Gundog Breeds Association of Scotland Open Show

I would like to thank the secretary Nicola Sturrock and her hard-working Committee for inviting me to judge. I had a lovely day and a quality entry, especially in Cocker Spaniels. Thank you to all exhibitors for a quality entry.

Cocker Spaniel Puppy (6)

1.Miss J. Maclean, Lynwater Moon Flower eight months old orange bitch, very nice head and tight dark eye, good length of neck and well-placed shoulders. Well boned legs and tight feet. Balanced throughout with well-muscled quarters. Beautifully presented. Moved soundly with confidence, keeping a level topline, promising puppy BPIS

2.Mr R. Kennedy, Kenward Sorrento, Ten months old black bitch, very feminine with a melting expression. Deep well sprung rib, tight elbow, short coupled. She moved soundly but was a little under confident today, lacking tail action. However, a lovely bitch that should do well with maturity.

3.Mr M. Lawrie, Inverella Tiny Toes

Cocker Spaniel Special Yearling (6) 2 absent

1.Mr M. Lawrie, Inverella Mistletoe Kiss, Black bitch, gorgeous head and tight eye, good neck and forehand, Cobby, cockery and balanced throughout. Strong, well-muscled hindquarters and well let down hocks. Moved true when she settled, displaying a lovely bustling action and balanced outline, well presented, liked her a lot.

2. Mr&Mrs J&D Neatham, Shoogsea Heir, attractive twelve months old Blue Roan dog, masculine head and balanced square muzzle, dark eye, but would prefer a tighter eye rim. Well presented in gleaming coat, wide well-muscled quarters and nice round bum. He moved well and held a nice outline but was moving a little narrow in front.

3. Mrs. G. Clelland, Lochellan Miami Blue Cocker Spaniel Post Graduate (10) 4 absent

1.Miss. K. Torbett, Kirlinjis Fast n Furious, Dark Blue Roan dog with Masculine head, dark tight eye, good forechest and width in front, he has a deep well sprung rib, compact body and well angulated hindquarters. He moved soundly with drive keeping a level topline.

2. Miss L. Davidson, Annilann Mister Boo, very nice dog, well developed masculine head with dark eye and gentle expression, moderate length of neck, deep well ribbed body, well angulated and muscled hindquarters. He moved soundly with good width behind and in front.

3. Mr. M. Lawrie, Totenkopf Dutch Dark Fairy

Cocker Spaniel Open (15) 5 absent

1.Miss K. Torbett, Kirlinjis Made You Wait, Gorgeous Blue roan bitch shown in gleaming coat, feminine throughout, every part of her fitting seamlessly together, a lot of Cocker in a small space. Well boned legs, tight catlike feet, well-muscled and well angulated quarters, so balanced standing and on the move. Bustling and cockery, moved soundly with drive keeping a level topline, loved her, BOB and BIS4

2.Mr&MrsB&B Sinclair, Chataway Dress Tartan at Duclaurus, I judged this bitch as a puppy and liked her then too, unlucky to meet first today. Very feminine black, with a lovely head and melting expression, good neck and well-placed shoulder, well sprung, deep rib. Good width throughout. Presented a balanced profile standing and on the move. Very well presented in gleaming coat and condition.

3. Miss K. Scotland, Lynnwater Hamilton. American Cocker Spaniel open (1)

1.Mr C. Stokes & Alison Stokes & Robert Stokes, Jaclee Broadway Madam at Twizeltree, fifteen months Black bitch, she has a feminine nicely shaped head and balanced muzzle, lovely eye, shape and pigment. Well placed shoulders and good spring of rib, lovely outline stacked. She moved with good reach in front and drive from behind. BOB

English Springer Spaniel Post Graduate (2)

1.Ms.Elaine Stevenson, Peasblossom Brogan at Goalachcara, liver and white, well balanced young dog, lovely head type. He has a well sprung deep rib, good front and well boned legs and tight feet. Strong muscular hindquarters. Moved ok.

2 .Mrs Jill Richie, Kittlegairy Still Game liver and white bitch, feminine head, nice outline standing, not the spring of rib or front of first.

Open (2)

1.Mrs.Sheila Graham, Peasblosson Valentino, Mature liver and white dog, masculine head, square muzzle, good front and well boned legs, tight feet. Deep well sprung rib, balanced profile and on the move. Moved very well from nicely muscled well angulated hindquarters, keeping a level topline. Carrying a little too much weight, but a very nice dog. BOB.

2. Mrs Edith Rose, Pinereoch Amethest of Rosannoch, liver and white bitch. Feminine and balanced in profile, a little narrow throughout, moved well behind and well-muscled quarters, but needs to tighten in front movement.


Sussex Spaniel Open (2)

1.Sue Mowbray, Crumbledor Ruebus Hagrid, very nice Sussex dog, masculine head with good width of Skull, lovely eye, good neck and forehand, well boned legs, round feet. Deep and firm body that was well-muscled throughout. He was in lovely condition and moved true in front and behind with typical rolling movement, holding a firm topline BOB.

2.Mrs P Mcgeachie & Mr B Mcgeachie, Malbecmogs Lady of the Lake at Klahallion. First show for this six-month-old baby, lovely head and eye, good width throughout with well boned legs and nice round feet. Lovely coat texture and condition. Moved soundly, promising puppy.

Clumber Spaniel

Open (4)

1.Mrs J. Nicolson, Clumbus Jolly Jumper of Taranstigh Mature dog, broad head with good stop, good length of neck and shoulder placement. Well boned legs and large round feet. He is well balanced throughout, with well sprung deep ribcage. Strong well angulated hindquarters. In excellent coat and condition and moved true in front and behind BOB

2.Mrs J. Nicolson, Knockhalon Spooktacular of Taranstigh eight months old baby and thought she was lovely, feminine head, good eye, good lengh of neck, leading to well placed shoulders. She has well boned legs and nice feet. Balanced in profile, she was in lovely coat and condition. When settled she moved soundly, BP

3. Miss C. Nicolson, Stonielea Williams Charm Irish Water Spaniel.

Open (2)

1.Mr & Mrs F & J Mccallum, Weemaes All About Eve, Feminine, with nice head shape, she was in good coat and condition, good width in front and well boned legs. Barrel ribcage, moved well in front, would have preferred a little more hind angulation, BOB

2.A. Weaving, Kandalin Golden Storm, preferred head of first. Well-constructed front and hindquarters. Carrying far too much weight, which made it di`icult to access her properly, this also a`ected her movement and outline.
