Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge at your well run open show and to all exhibitors for their entries and good sportsmanship. Also thank you Karen Bright for stewarding for me all day, your help and organisation was very much appreciated.
AVNSC Hound
Puppy (1 entry)
1st. Giles-Wyatt’s Clarismore Crown Prince – Beagle. 10 months compact tri coloured dog. Appealing dark eye and correct head proportions showing slightly domed skull, good ear placement. Well off for bone and on good feet. Correct lay of shoulder, level topline. Well muscled rear and good turn of stifle. Moved very accurately and free with his tail held correctly up. Best Puppy and PHG1.

1st. Sawyer’s Boughton Back on Top – Greyhound. 13 month brindle dog. Typical head and good ear. Strong long neck into correct lay of shoulder. Good in forechest. Well ribbed back and with great depth. Good rear angles, moved out steady and true.
2nd. Ward-Blower’s Dajean Surely Keifer at Willowmist – (Min Wire Dachshund) 13 month Chocolate Dog. Nice outline with good head proportions and furnishings. Good ground clearance. Moved out true coming and going.
3rd. Lorenzo Rivers’ Prestigious How Will I Know – Afghan

1st. Boggia’s Back For More – Greyhound. 13 month Brindle Bitch showing balanced outline. Typical head and eye, correct ear. Strong neck into good shoulder. Well boned, tight feet. Well ribbed back. Strong rear quarters. Moved steady and true. Res Best AVNSC Hound
2nd. Mclean’s Switherland Gabriella At Stookewood – Basset Hound. Bitch of correct proportions, lovely head shape with correct “lozenge” shaped eye. Strong neck into good lay of shoulder. Movement was effortless and true.
3rd. Ward-Blower’s Whitewebbs Jonny Be good at Willowmist – Min Wire Dachshund.

1st. Holder & Boggia’s Boughton Back To The Future. I judged this 13 month old Brindle Bitch at her first show back in February and gave her PHG2. Delighted to see her having grown into a beautifully balanced example of the breed. Correct length of head with flat skull and with good chiselling. Strong and supple body of excellent proportions, good length of upper arm into excellent lay of shoulder. Deep chest, elbows well set under. Well ribbed back. Strong topline, great length to first and second thighs. Well let down hocks propelled her into her ground covering free movement, typical of this kennel. Pleased to award her Best AVNSC Hound and later in the day Hound Group 1.
2nd. Threadgold’s Ch Norvin Joyeux Noel – Norwegian Elkhound. A very nice compact outline on this bitch. Well boned and tight feet and straight pasterns. Correct wedged shape head with correctly placed pointed ears. Strong neck, well placed shoulder. Short loin, strong rear quarters. Moved very well.
3rd. Osbourne’s Derochaise Vincenzo Di Braego – Wire Haired Dachshund.
Basset Griffon Vendeen (Grand)

1st. Weymouth’s Soufriere Tourbillon at Woolybassets. Well covered with good coat texture. Good front angulation. Strong neck, good length to body. Moved well with very happy disposition. RBOB

1st. Marshall’s Soufriere One Vision JW. Good head proportions with typical expression and good eye shape. Good length to ears. Well ribbed back, level topline, nice accurate rear movement. BOB
2nd. Soufriere Paserelle Bateau Lovely head shape with domed skull, excellent eye. Nice front assembly with correct width. Just preferred movement on 1 in front.
Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit)
Special Yearling (3 entries 1 absent)
1st. Woods’ Beaujons Anton Du Beke. BP 8 month lemon and white dog with a merry disposition. Well boned and with good body length to height ratio. Good shoulder placement, elbows well under. Moved off well from low set hocks. Moved freely and accurately.
2nd. Osbourne’s Beaujons Wayne Sleep With Braego. Litter brother to 1 and most points above apply but he gave his handler a hard time! Well balanced front to rear. Nice head shape. His movement was free if a little erratic but a very nice puppy.

1st. Bishops Miss Skylar. Nicely balanced all through. Good head and eye with required furnishings. Correct tail insert, low set hocks. Moved out well. RBOB

1st. Skerrit & Betts Monkhams Memphis Belle. Attractive bitch just turned 5 years. Very nicely balanced, loved her outline, head and eye. Strong neck, good level topline. Strong rear quarters with low hock. Correct tail insert. Happy and outgoing, she is well schooled and moved bang on fore and aft with a lovely ground covering gait in profile BOB .
2nd. Woods’ Beaujons Leading Lady JW. Body of good proportions, good coat. Well ribbed. Correct tail set and carriage. Very nice mover with attitude.

1st. Thomas’ Bowdonia Sky Full Of Stars (Whippet) Very nice outline on this 17 month old bitch. Attractive head of good length and flat skull. Correct rose ears, strong neck into good shoulder placement. Deep chest. Firm topline with required arch over strong loin. Well muscled rear with well let down hocks enabling graceful yet powerful ground covering movement.
2nd. Searle’s Stonemartin Bron (Azawakh). Very attractive, elegant red fawn bitch. Her outline is correctly taller than long, with fine, tight skin and in beautiful condition with correct flat muscles. Good reach of well muscled neck into slightly slanting shoulder. Ribs correctly just above elbows. Level topline, short croup. Low set, lean and long tail with the preferred white tip. Movement was beautiful to watch with light and easy stride. Best AV Import Hound and Hound Group 3.

Moved effortlessly with graceful, long stride. Best AV Hound.

1st. Skerrit & Betts Beaujons Vagabond of Monkhams (PBGV) Well balanced Sable & White dog showing pleasing outline and well balanced front to rear. Pleasing head and eye, strong underjaw. Strong neck into good front assembly. Level topline. Rear quarters to compliment front with low hock. Moved very soundly and precisely.
2nd. Longhurst’s Abbeyhurst Dancing Queen JW (Whippet). Well proportioned bitch of 3 years showing lovely outline front to rear. Well muscled body. Deep chest with well set elbows. Well ribbed back, strong loin and good rear quarters with ample width to thighs. Moved out soundly.

1st. Shepherd’s CH Citycroft Sundae with Oxana JW ShCM ShCEx VW An extremely smart Whippet very worthy of all his titles and one I have judged before. He does not disappoint in his golden years either. He has a beautiful balanced outline with very good muscle tone and in great condition. Very nice head shape with required tapering muzzle. Flat skull, strong and long well muscled neck into well layed back shoulder. Good infil in front, well boned and on very good feet. Firm well muscled back with gentle arch over the loin. Good width to second thigh. Movement was accurate fore and aft and with excellent forehand in front. Lovely to see him gain Res Best Veteran in Show. Congratulations.
