Waverly Gundog Association - Saturday, the 2nd of March 2024 - Gundog Open Show

Thank you to the society for the kind invitation to judge at your show and the exhibitors who gave me the opportunity to judge your beautiful dogs. You truly have a lovely breed! Temperaments were excellent and the dogs coped really well in very chilly conditions. I thoroughly enjoyed the appointment and thank you for taking my decisions well. Thanks also to my excellent stewards, Di and Lynne for keeping the ring running smoothly.

Cl. 28 Weimaraner puppy - no entries

Cl. 29 Weimaraner Junior (3,1)

1st. 80 Gunalt the hangover JW medium sized balanced male of 14 months with good outline and proportions. Nice length to body with good bone and tight feet. He has an attractive head with good width and length of skull, good strength of muzzle, correct eye shape and colour long ears frame his handsome face. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, parallel forelegs and elbows close to body, good depth of chest, ribs extending well back into strong loin. Good tailset, excellent width of thigh good turn of stifle strong, low hock. Moved true with both reach and drive. Lovely coat colour and muscular condition. Pleased to award him Best dog.

2nd. 82 Silberstern First Edition, 17 months old female with a pretty head, good eye, correct ears, shown in lovely coat and condition. Slightly shorter cast than 1 she has balanced angulation front and back, would like a slightly deeper chest which should hopefully come with maturity. Nice bone for size, strong parallel forelegs, strong topline, good tailset, she moved well.

Cl. 30 Weimaraner graduate (4,0)

A mixed class of differing types.

1st. 86 Silverkevin Callisto female,

19 months old at the lower end of the height range. Won this class on her angulation and balance, I would like a longer ribcage to give more length to her body. She has a pretty head, good eye colour, strong muzzle with correct dentition, long ears. She scores in chest with legs well underneath her and elbow close to body, good bone. Her feet and pasterns need to tighten. Strong topline, good width of thigh, moved true when she got into her stride.

2nd. 83 Lamarg Silver Huntsman larger cast 17month old male with a shapely outline, good bone, excellent muscular condition, lovely coat colour. Stronger in head but not cheeky, good eye colour, good strength of muzzle, good bone, feet could be tighter. Chest is broad, I’d like his elbows underneath him more. Lovely reach of neck nice shoulder replacement strong topline, deep chest lovely shape to his ribcage, strong short loin. I'd like a little more length of body, lovely rear angulation with good width of thigh and low strong hocks, moved true.

3rd. Harelferg Cookson

Cl. 31 Weimaraner postgraduate 4,0)

1st. 87 Harelferg Wise, 19 months old male, I liked his profile and balance good length of body to heigh proportions, lovely coat colour and condition. Good length of skull and depth of muzzle, median line extending over forehead. I would prefer a better ear shape. Strong neck of good length into a lovely shoulder placement with good return of our upper arm. Good bone for size and compact feet. Good depth of chest, ribs carried well back blended into his short, strong loin, good width of thigh and turn of stifle. Moved true holding a firm and level topline.

2nd. Greyspirit Mystique JW CJW22 JW Two-year-old female attractive head of excellent proportions, correct eye and excellent ears, clean through the cheeks, good depth of muzzle and kind expression. She gave her handler a hard time today, but when cooperative she had a lovely balanced profile outline, good reach of neck, good shoulders, excellent length of body, good bone and feet long, ribcage, strong loin, good turn of stifle, strong low hocks, moved very well.

Cl. 32. Weimaraner Limit (3)

1st. 90 Greyspirit Wait’s Over at Silverkevin shapely 2 year old male, who was feeling the cold today. He has a lovely balanced profile outline, and won this class and his long low stride. He’s not overdone, a medium size with nice bone. Good head proportions, round eyes of good colour, excellent ears and strong muzzle. He scores in front assembly with a well-filled forechest, excellent bone, parallel forelegs, strong patterns and feet, elbows well placed under him with good return of upper arm. Strong neck of good length, level topline, good depth of body strong loin. I would prefer a slightly longer rib cage to add a touch more length of body, balanced rear angulation, with a low hock, moved very well.

2nd. Lamarg Silver Showoff, Attractive two-year-old female presenting a lovely outline, good head of nice proportions, I would prefer less flews but she has a good strong muzzle, nice eye shape and colour. Strong neck of good length, nice shoulder placement, good return of upper arm, good length to body, good depth of ribcage, strong topline, short loin, well ribbed back. Balanced rear angulation, with good turn of stifle, moved well once she got into her stride.

3rd Greyspirit Kept me Waiting

Cl. 33 Weimaraner Open Dog (3,1)

Two very different types.

1st. 91 Greyspirit Rock Star from Hantzburg JW 6 year old male, Balanced with good proportions won this class on his movement. Typical head with round eye, good proportions, excellent ears strong muzzle of good depth, good length of neck into clean, shoulders good return of upper arm, parallel forelegs, elbows close to body, good bone and feet. Good length of body, strong loin. Balanced rear angulation. Moved with a ground covering stride, straight and true.

2nd. 92 Ir Sh Ch Silverkelvin Jupiter Over Magdala CW22, 6 year old male of smaller and stockier build than 1. He presents a shapely profile outline but his movement was difficult to assess today as he was super excitable. Good head with lovely proportions round eye, strong muzzle, excellent ears carried well. Strong neck, sloping shoulders well filled forechest. Good depth and shape to ribcage, strong loin, balanced rear angulation with good width of thigh.

Cl. 34 Weimaraner Open Bitch

A lovely class!

1st. Braefell Bumblebee, 4 year old female who is so well balanced and won this lovely class on her excellent movement. She has a pretty head with correct eye shape and colour, strong muzzle with good depth, clean cheeks, long ears, median line over forehead, would prefer a touch more stop to finish the picture. Strong neck into the best of front assemblies, well laid shoulder, equal return of upper arm, well filled forechest, beautiful bone on her parallel forelegs and compact feet, elbows close to body putting her legs underneath her supporting her frame. Excellent length of body with good depth of ribbing, strong topline, short strong loin, good tailset, good turn of stifle, excellent width of thigh and low strong hocks. She moves with an accurate and true ground covering easy stride. Pleased to award her best of breed.

2nd. Sh Ch Sireva Surfer to Silberstern 4 year old female, Another lovely girl with a different head type to 1 but otherwise sharing many of the same qualities. Finer head type, good length of skull, correct eye and ears, median line over forehead, moderate stop. Crested neck into excellent shoulder with good return of upper arm, lovely bone and feet. Excellent length of body with ribcage extending well back, firm topline and strong loin. Well angled rear with lovely width and strength throughout. Excellent low hocks that she put a good use on the move.

3rd. Greyspirit Hopes N Dreams JW SHCEX OSW
