Carlisle & District Canine Society Open Show 20.04.24

Thank you to the Officers and Committee for the kind invitation, and to the exhibitors for the fantastic entry I was afforded – it was a privilege to judge your lovely dogs. Thank you to my excellent Stewards, Honey and Rachel who ran the ring with expertise! I was delighted with the quality of Hounds entered under me, the Whippet quality was very strong in particular.

Class 503 Whippet Puppy (7) What a super class!

1. 555 Crosscop Tiny Dancer - This baby girl caught my eye for her shapely outline and elegant, flowing lines. At just 6 months she is raw, but she has so much promise. Loved her overall balance, she has a beautiful head, perfectly straight limbs of lovely bone and well knuckled feet. Long, arched neck into well laid shoulders, nicely placed elbows and lovely shaped ribcage which extends well back. Excellent length of body, lovely underline with good tuck-up, short strong loin, good topline with graceful curve. Well balanced rear with excellent width of firth and second thigh, strong low hocks which she put to good use on the move, moving straight and true in all directions and covering the ground in profile, with a long, low stride. Best Puppy in Breed. Delighted to hear she later went Puppy Group 1 and RBPIS, Congratulations!

2. 566 Falconcrag Match Maker at Crosscop – another lovely specimen from the same kennel as 1 I see, and sharing many of the same qualities. Male of 8 months, who has a lovely elegant outline, long clean neck, nice front assembly, lovely bone and feet. Nicely shaped ribbing of good length, and well-balanced rear angulation with excellent strength throughout. He also moved very well, I just preferred the head on 1.

Class 504 Whippet Yearling (8,2)

1. 565 Hologem You Were Made For Me – 19 months old shapely female with a shapely and balanced outline. Nice feminine head, dark eyes, long clean neck. Lovely well-laid shoulder and return of upper arm and nice elbow placement. Good depth of chesh and nice shape to her body, lovely top and underlines, strong well-angled rear with good width and strong hocks. She won this class with her lovely movement, true and ground covering with good drive.

2. 546 Nevedith Gold Blend 19 months old larger cast male of nice make and shape, nice head with correct eye and intelligent expression. Long arched neck, lovely shoulder and good return of upper arm, strong bone and well knuckled feet. Good shape of ribbing, good top and underlines, balanced rear angulation with good width of thigh. Moved well. Covering the ground.

1. 564 Groomsville Hologem Heavens Dream – 3 year old bitch who I see has the same parents as the previous class winner and shares the same type and qualities. I loved her shapely outline, she is well balanced without exaggeration and has power and strength while still remaining feminine. Long head, bright, dark eyes with intelligent expression, long arched neck. Lovely shoulders, well laid with good return of upper arm, lovely bone, perfectly parallel forelegs and good feet. Ideal elbow placement close to body, deep check, good tuck-up and strong loin. Good width across her rear which is well angled and muscled. Excellent low hocks, she moved very well in all directions.

2. 548 Crosscop Let’s Dance With Sweetaurora - Close up to 1 - Lovely shaped 4 year old female, so well balanced with everything in the right place. Pretty head of good length and proportions, correct eye and good ears. Lovely bone, parallel forelegs, excellent feet. Lovely front assembly, good length and depth of body, nice topline and tuck-up, well balanced rear angulation with strong hocks. Moved very well on a loose lead, showing her long, low easy stride.

1. 573 Crosscop Proud Mary – Almost 4 year old female who has such a beautiful shapely outline, a perfect blend of grace and power. Excellent head of good proportions, good eye and ears and strong muzzle. Long, clean arched neck into well placed shoulders, lovely bone, parallel forelegs well under her and good feet. Well-filled forechest, excellent muscled condition throughout. Good length to height proportions, good depth of chest and spring of rib, strong loin with gracefully curved topline and good tuck-up. Well balanced rear with excellent strength and width of first and second thigh, well turned stifle and low hocks. Excellent mover as her construction would suggest. Loved her!

2. 569 Crosscop A Dream Come True for Dalerafenn - another lovely girl of 3 years and of good type. Feminine head with dark eye. Beautiful outline, she excels in front assembly. Beautiful clean, arched neck into the best of fronts, well filled forechest, prosternum visible in profile, ideal elbow position. Well shaped body with good depth and width, good top and underlines, well balanced rear angles with excellent turn of stifle and strong low hock. Moved well in all directions.

1. 547 Collooney Was Meant To Be at Sulamara JW ShCEx OSW 2 year old male of excellent type and clean lines. He presents a beautiful outline, so well balanced. Excellent head of good length and proportions, dark eye and strong muzzle and rose shaped ears. Long, arched, muscular neck into a lovely front assembly of sloping shoulders, good return of upper arm, well placed elbows and filled forechest. Good bone for size, legs well under him and knuckled feet. Excellent body proportions with good depth, width and length. Good top and underlines with gentle curve over loin and well balanced rear with low hocks. He moves very well in all directions, straight and true and low to the ground. Pleased to award him Best Of Breed and I believe he also went Hound Group 1, congratulations!

2. 556 Crosscop You Are My Destiny at Ardencote – another lovely exhibit, a beautiful female of 3 years. Close up to 1, she is shapely and so well balanced. Feminine head of good length and type. Correct eye and ears, strong under jaw. Lovely clean neck, super front with everything in the right place, well filled forechest, excellent bone and feet. Elbows close to body, excellent depth and shape of ribcage. Strong loin, with gentle curved topline and excellent underline. Powerful rear construction with well turned stifle and low hock. Moved well.

Class 508 Beagle Puppy (4,2)

1. 589 Boskenna’s Wicked Witch – Compact female of good breed type. She is sturdy and well boned, with a well-balanced profile outline. Lovely head, with good planes and proportions, kind dark eye and strong muzzle with good dentition. Crested reach of neck. Lovely shoulders, good depth and length of body, good topline and gradual underline, nice tailset and carriage. Strong well balanced rear angulation, low strong hocks. She moved well in all directions with good reach and drive. Pleased to award her Best Puppy In Breed.

2. 588 Ivanhoe Cernunnos Mawr (IMP CZE) – Sturdy 10 month old male of different type to 1 but still lots to like about him. Beautiful head and expression, long ears well set, strong muzzle and kind dark eye. Well filled forechest, strong bone and compact feet. Strong neck, sloping shoulders with good return of upper arm, deep chest and good tailset. Balanced rear angulation with strong hocks. Moved true.

Class 509 Beagle Yearling (2,1)

1. 587 Bayard Bee Good – 14 months old male with nice breed type. Good head of nice proportions, strong muzzle, good ears. Strong neck of good length, lovely sloping shoulder with good return of upper arm. Lovely bone and feet and elbows close to body. Well sprung ribs and strong topline, good tailset and carriage. Well angled, strong rear with strong low hocks. Moved very well with good reach and drive.

1. 590 Kellitcreed Danger Digits – pretty 2 year old female who is well balanced and not overdone. Lovely head, dark eyes and long ears, strong muzzle with ideal flews – could be slightly longer for ideal proportions. Good bone and feet, parallel forelegs, filled forechest. Strong neck, nicely laid shoulders with good return of upper arm. Good length and depth of body, ribs extending well back, short strong loins, level topline, good tailset and carriage. Lovely rear construction with good width of thigh and turn of stifle, low strong hocks. Moved very well, with both reach and drive.

Class 512 Beagle Open (1)

1. 591 Kellitcreed Frozen Assets lovely litter sister to previous class winner, and lots of similar qualities. Impressive profile outline with good balance. Good head, good muzzle proportions and depth, long ears and dark eye with soft expression. Strong, arched neck into lovely sloping shoulders, good elbow placement with legs well under her, filled chest. Lovely bone and feet. Excellent length of body and well-shaped ribcage of good depth, strong short loin. Balanced rear angulation, low hocks. She excels on the move with a free, easy stride – straight and true and covering the ground. Best Of Breed.

Class 517 Basenji Open (3,1) a lovely pair!

1. 592 Ch Tadrose North Star – 5 year old red/white female who is well balanced with the required aristocratic look. Lovely head, alert intelligent expression, good shaped ears – could be a touch higher set and closer together for ideal. Strong reach of neck into sloping shoulders, well laid with a filled forechest. Fine bone and good length of leg, good pasterns and feet. Well shaped ribcage, extending well back and firm topline. Goot tail set and curl. Strong, moderately angled rear, with excellent posterior curve of buttock and low hocks. She excels on the move, which won her this nice class.

2. 594 Ch Bushwacker Dragon Tattoo at Sarawana JW – Smaller cast than 1, this 3 year old red/white female is full of quality, loved her head, excellent ears and expression. She is well balanced, and moderately angled front and rear. Firm, level topline, nicely shaped ribbing, fine boned and good length of forearms. She has a lovely profile gait, moving with a swift ground covering stride.
