Thank you to the club for the invitation to judge at your show. My first gundog group and I was thrilled with the quality of the best in show competition. Sadly on the day one judge was unable to attend due to a family emergency, I was therefore asked to take over the Field Spaniel and Nova Scotia classes.

Johnston's SH CH GLENQUIN ATHENA (GWP)

Absolutely stunning bitch in peak condition. She is so well balanced throughout with excellent angulation. Her outline when stacked just kept drawing me back to her and on the move she floated with such a long free easy stride and plenty of drive and with such precision. It was my honour to award her Best in Show.

Upstanding masculine dog with a kind well moulded head. Clean well set neck, straight forelimbs with good quality bone. Neat foot with well arched toes. Moved out with a clean flowing stride. RBOB

2nd Broadbent's GEMSWIN I AM SAILING

Larger dog with a kind well moulded head, good forechest and well ribbed up body. Overall preferred the length of stride of 1st.

Lovely well-moulded head and kind expression. Overall good angulation in front and rear, Well laid back shoulders and deep chest. Holds a strong topline and good tailset. Moderate bend of stifle with well let down hocks. Moves cleanly.

Upstanding dog with well moulded head, correctly sized well-placed neat ears, good layback of shoulder but I would prefer more forechest and cleaner front action, moved neater behind and with efficient profile movement.

1st Bellamy's MOONTORN BETTER HALF OF ME JW

Pretty head with a dark eye, well set-on ears of good length, clean in neck. Beautifully angulated forequarters having correct shoulder placement and length and return of upperarm, stands on nice tight feet. Good overall balance with correct height to length ratio. Good bend of stifle, moved well with a free stride. Presented to advantage. BOB

2nd Strudwick's BURPHAM LOTTIES FIRST LOVE JW

Another pretty headed bitch with a well moulded head. Clean in neck with well made forequarters , level topline, well bodied and with short strong loin.

Took my eye straight away with his most gorgeous head, well defined stop, kind and intelligent expression. Overall well balanced fore and aft with clean strong bone on great feet. Shoulders long and well laid back, good forechest and well sprung barrel ribs. Well conditioned without excessive body weight. Strong otter tail that was carried well. Moved out cleanly with drive. Handled advantageously to display his confident easy going temperament. BOB, BP and ultimately BPIS

Well defined head with a kind eye. Strong bone and good feet. Overall well balanced outline, moved out well.

6 month old baby with a very sweet head. Good forehand construction and rear angulation, moves out cleanly in all directions. Just needing to firm in topline at the moment.

2nd Jury's HANDIALLA LADY IN RED AT BALLAREMUERA

Well defined in head with a good eye, clean neck with ok layback of shoulder, would prefer more forechest. Good rear angulation, moved ok in profile could be neater in front action.

Good head shape and masculine expression. Clean reach of neck in to well placed shoulders and a good upperarm. Well ribbed with strong couplings. Good strong quarters and second thigh, hocks well let down. Movement was sound and efficient, just a little proud of his tail today.

Masculine headed dog with a good muzzle, decent shoulder layback with strong set neck. Well sprung barrel ribs, short strong couplings. Strong rear allowing him to move out with power.

Upstanding dog with a kind masculine intelligent expression. Broad in muzzle with strong jaws. Strong clean neck in to decent shoulders, strong topline. Well boned straight forelimbs, standing on good feet. Moved with drive and cleanly. RBOB

2nd Mount's BUCKHOLT IMBER COURT JESTER

Very kind headed dog with a masculine head without coarseness. Overall well bodied with good clean neck flowing to good shoulder layback. Good stifle and width of thigh, moved with clean strides would like to see more confidence.

Attractive overall strongly built outline. Feminine expression, well defined stop, good neck and forehand. Well bodied and moved cleanly front good hindquarters, maintaining good carriage.

2nd Aldis' BUCKHOLT HIGH SOCIETY

Exuberant personality, similar in type to the winner but preferred the topline of 1st. Moved cleanly.

Well balanced masculine head with friendly alert expression. Well placed ears of good triangular shape. Front angulation is balanced with good shoulder and upperarm. Good tight feet. Moved with reach and drive while maintaining his outline.

2nd Strevens TOLLISTY SHINCHA

Litter sister to the winner with overall similar balanced construction but felt the winner had the edge on forward reach due to better shoulder layback. Ultra feminine, firm topline, short loin and balanced rear angulation.

Very pleasing type. Loved his masculine, wedge-shaped head with well-developed skull. Friendly alert expression. Nicely made forehand assembly overall with good bone & feet. Well sprung ribs, level topline and strong loin. Good rear angulation with well let down hocks. His overall balanced construction allowed him to move out well with an effortless jaunty action and strong rear drive. BOB

Lovely overall balance and breed type. Well angulated both ends and shown in good condition. Chest of good depth and ribcage is well sprung. Moved well with drive and a clean action. Close decision with the winner.

Very promising youngster who impresses with her overall balanced well angulated construction. Impressed with her long and easy strides. Shoulders long and sloping and well laid back with good return of upperarm. Feminine pretty head , correct skull to muzzle proportions with correctly shaped eyes. RBOB & BP

2nd Tye's IRISBEL THE GREATEST SHOWMAN AT TYMORA

Litter brother to the winner as feminine as she is, he is all male. For me his head was a little strong. Good length of neck with straight, well-boned limbs. Well bodied and strong in topline. Not as together as his sister on the move.

2nd Wallington's INT/MULTI CH NICAEL BLUE DIAMOND AMONG OHANAVA (Visla)

Shapely bitch presented a very good outline, which she maintained on the move. Presented in lean and muscular condition. Strode out well with plenty of reach and drive.

Another B/W bitch presented in good condition for her age and moved out with a clean and active stride.
