Coalville & District Canine Society

Coalville and District Canine Society Open Show 13.01.2024 Thank you to the committee for my first judging appointment, the exhibitors for a lovely, quality entry and to my stewards for the smooth running of the ring; I thoroughly enjoyed my day. Judge: Lillie-Amber Peters - Shirlilah IRISH SETTERS Puppy Dog or Bitch 1 (2) 1. Alolfrana Whole Lotta Love With Redeshka (Mrs RA Webb) Very feminine girl, head long and lean, refined with pretty expression and attractive dark eye. Excels in front angulation, just enough forechest, straight front, and neat feet. Although, a little fine in bone. Gently arched neck flows cleanly over shoulders into gently sloping topline and correct tail set. Just enough rear quarters, this will all develop with time. Coat and feathers coming along nicely. A bit erratic on the move, but this may be due to the hall floor, ample rear extension, however, tail carriage a little high today. BP. Junior Dog or Bitch 0 Postgraduate Dog or Bitch 9 (3) A strong class full of quality dogs. 1. Riverbrue Ophelia Bobby (Mrs S Cole) Gorgeous, melting expression, with mischievous dark eyes and raised brow. Head striking a balance between masculinity and elegance, well-chiselled foreface with square finish and correct depth of muzzle. Muscular, arched neck leading into well-laid-back shoulders to gently sloping topline. Pleasing front assembly and depth to chest. Tight, neat feet. Correct width of quarters and excellent rear angulation, but not overdone. Moved with ample reach, complete with lashing tail but would like to see him at faster pace with more drive. Beautiful dark coat and featherings. BOB. 2. Gwendariff Yella Jumper (IKC) (Mrs J Walters) Very pretty, feminine girl. She holds a kind, inquisitive expression, complete with raised brow. Correct depth and finish to muzzle, with lovely chiselling. Distinct sternum with ample forechest, good spring of rib with plenty of lung room. Lovely flow from neck, over well-laid shoulders, into fabulous sloping topline, slightly steep over croup, and well-set tail. Well-bent stifle, lovely width to thigh and strong hocks. Feathers were lighter in colour and not as plentiful, but this did not detract from her overall qualities. Moved well with a great lashing action to tail, although I would like more rear extension. Just preferred the finish of 1 and his darker today. RBOB. 3. Quensha Thinking Out Loud With Bransett JW (Mrs D and Miss J Parsons) Another lovely young dog, well-made with a cheeky expression and sound movement, just a little heavy today and in tough competition. Open dog or bitch 8 (3) 1. Fofarian Flutt’r Yer Lashes At Bransett (Mrs D and Miss J Parsons) Balanced head with good stop and low-set ears, although being critical, a touch throaty. Clean flow from neck over laid-back shoulders into gently sloping topline with well-set tail. Fabulous forechest, deep chest, straight front, and tight feet. A shade short in upper arm. Lovely sweeping stifle, wide powerful quarters, and strong hocks which she used on the move. She won this class on her free-flowing movement, showing reach and drive, ample rear extension, and a lashing tail. Coat and featherings could be darker and more abundant but cannot deny her overall balance. Just preferred the finish of the dog and the head and expression of my RBOB in the line-up. 2. Gwendariff Tullys Red Arrows (Ms R A Richardson) Masculine head, just a tad strong for my preference. Arched muscular neck, although slightly heavy over well-laid-back shoulders as carrying a little too much weight today, gently sloping topline when stood correctly, but he tended to lean back which spoiled his topline at times. Plenty of forechest with good feel to the sternum, ample lung room with well-sprung ribs and correct length to loin. Strong angulation fore and aft. Wide quarters with well-bent stifle. Best quality and condition coat of the day. Moved with good reach and drive at front, and a happily wagging tail, just close behind and untidy at the rear today, perhaps due to the hall floor, hence second place. 3. Thendara Big Love (Mr J N Bott and Mrs D Milligan-Bott)
