French Bulldog Critique

Liesel Thorner (Naracoopa)

Thank you to the officers and committee for inviting me to judge today. I have been looking forward to this appointment. Thank you to my steward who kept the ring in order and to the exhibitors who brought their lovely dogs under me I had some difficult decisions to make on a couple of occasions.

Puppy (3, 0)

A nice class of puppies.

1st Membury’s Membully Razzle Dazzle

This puppy impressed with his mature attitude to the show ring. He really showed off his attributes.

A seven month old fawn sporting a beautiful black mask. Lovely head, with visible muzzle and defined stop. Dark round eye well set and good pigmentation to eye rims, nose and lips. Ears correctly set and carried well. Had just the right amount of wrinkling on his forehead when he gave me his alert “look at me” expression.

So well balanced all through, with good bone. Correct front assembly leading through well sprung ribs with a strong back and gentle roach to a strong well-muscled rear.

This young man used his construction to his advantage when he moved around the ring and was nicely balanced on the out and back. He really stood out in the challenge and so couldn’t deny him BOB despite his age. Will watch him with interest. BOB, BPIB, PG4

2nd French’s Bincomefarm Serpensortia

Rising one year old Brindle Pied bitch, another nice puppy with good head proportions, visible muzzle and defined stop. Dark eye with correct pigmentation to rims, nose and lips. Nicely constructed front, well sprung ribs and good tuck up leads to a strong muscular rear. Gaited the ring well. Just preferred overall balance and showmanship of the first place pup today.

Junior (2, 0)

Another nice class of two youngsters with not much between them other than maturity.

1st Suhareva and Cruttenden’s Castrum Osinium Roller Coaster (Imp Cro)

Well balanced brindle male rising 16 months. Correct in muzzle and stop, domed forehead with enough wrinkling and nice ear set and carriage. Cobby body with well sprung ribs and correct tuck up. Well boned with good muscling. Moved freely gaiting the ring and correct out and back.

2nd French’s Bincomefarm Morsemordre

Rising one year old light brindle male, another that is well put together. Square head of good proportions, visible muzzle and defined stop. Ears well placed and carried and correct wrinkling to forehead. Dark eye and pigment all through. Strong arched neck leading to a deep cobby body with good tuck up. Nicely muscled throughout. Gaited the run nicely, but his hind action was a little untidy today.

Graduate (5, 1)

A class of mixed type and maturity.

1st Membury’s Membully Maybe My Time

Almost 2 year old well balanced brindle bitch built on a smaller frame. Dark round eye and correct pigmentation, visible set back muzzle, defined stop and correct wrinkling to forehead. Ear set ok and carried upright. Nicely rounded body with broad shoulders, spring to ribs and tuck up. Correct roach. Moved around the ring well and good on the out and back.

2nd Suhareva and Cruttenden’s Castrum Osinium Roller Coaster (Imp Cro)

As per 1st in Junior.

Open (2, 0)

1st Barret’s Thomas The Steam Tank

One I have judged before as a two year old. Brindle pied male now 3 and a half. Balanced head of good proportions, good muzzle set back and defined stop. Well place and carried ears. Moderate length of neck into broach shoulders and good spring of rib. Nice bone and good feet. Moved ok.
