Dukeries (Notts)Gundog Club Saturday 20th July 2024 I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge Golden Retrievers at their Premier Open Show Saturday 20th July 2024. Thank you for your kind hospitality at The Oakridge Arena a lovely venue, the weather was perfect for the outdoors. Thank you to my two stewards who kept things running and last but certainly not least, to the exhibitors who brought their beautiful dogs along for me to judge, it was a privilege to be able to judge such beautiful examples of the breed. Puppy Dog or Bitch (4 ent 2 abs) 1st Brekswood Gentleman Jack A beautifully presented young boy, pale coated with gentle waves, only two days away from his first birthday. He has a lovely head with the most gentle of expressions, excellent pigment with soft dark eyes. Good reach of neck to a level topline, short coupled and compact. Well balanced throughout well off for bone and a good length of leg with symmetrical angles. He moved out with good reach and strong rear drive. Pleased to award him Best Puppy in Breed and delighted he went on to win Best Puppy in show, a great finish to his puppy journey. 2nd Ambersun Head Over Heels At only 7 months of age what a sweet little girl she is, she stood well in the class and perfectly for the examination attentive to her handler at all times. She’s a mid-coated girl with a sweet feminine head and gentle expression and excellent pigment. A very nice reach of neck and well developed forchest for her age, short coupled with a level topline correct tailset. She moved out with confidence holding her topline with a happy disposition enjoying her day. Definitely one to watch. Junior Dog or Bitch (2 ent) 1st Ambersun Summer Son A beautiful young dog at just over a year old, shown in a gleaming mid gold coat, excellent male head melting expression, keen and attentive to his handler. Strong muscular neck set onto well laid-back shoulders, level topline and tight elbows, nice deep brisket, well ribbed and short coupled, good length of leg portraying a well-balanced body viewed from any angle moved out with precision and drive. 2nd Brekswood Gentleman Jack Special Yearling Dog or Bitch (3 ent) 1st Maltqudos Enchanted JW A well-presented mid gold girl who stood out today for her beautifully balanced outline. She was presented in a gleaming mid gold coat with ample blonde feathering. She has a very feminine head with the prettiest expression and soft melting dark eyes. Straight front, good length of leg, shoulders are well laid back placing her legs well under her body, a deep brisket, a level topline and well-developed rear quarters. She moved out today completely at one with her handler, her movement was free flowing and effortless. I was delighted to award her Best of Breed Today and pleased to hear she was shortlisted in a large Gundog group. 2nd Brekswood Gentleman Jack 3rd Ambersun Paper Plane Post Graduate Dog or Bitch ( 2 ent 0 abs ) 1st FairwindsSky Full Of Stars Over Flaxengold A well-presented mid gold coated girl, one I have judged before, at 2 years old she is maturing lovely. She was shown today in profuse mid gold coat with ample feathering. This girl never puts a foot wrong always looks at one with her handler. She has a lovely sweet female head with a gentle expression, good reach of neck into well laid-back shoulders, short coupled with a correct tailset. She is well angled fore and aft with good bone and neat feet. She stood out for me today on the move, her movement is free flowing with excellent rear driving action. 2nd Sansue Love Flame (Re import) A lovely pale coated dog well presented today, he has a lovely male head with a gentle expression with good pigment, a lovely length of neck into a well laid-back shoulder placement and excellent return of upper arm. He is well ribbed and short coupled with lovely rear angulation with firm muscled second thighs. He moved out happily with enthusiasm and good driving action. Limit Dog or Bitch (3 ent 2 abs) 1st Ashbyglen Enchantee A beautiful pale coated bitch that caught my eye as she entered the ring, she stood alone in this class but that didn’t distract from her performance. She is so balanced. Her head is feminine and of correct shape she had good pigment and the sweetest expression. A good depth of forchest, a strong level topline and correct tailset. She is well angled fore and aft with straight legs placed well under her body. Shown today in the prettiest pale wavy coat with ample feathering. Moved out displaying good reach and drive. I was pleased to award her RBoB. Open Dog or Bitch (2 ent 1 abs) 1st Ambersun Alive And Kicking A beautifully presented mid coated boy shown in profuse coat, he has the most appealing head, male in construction but also soft with the most melting expression, excellent pigment, a deep muzzle and well-defined stop. A good reach of neck into a well laid-back shoulder placement with corresponding upper arm. He is short coupled with a good bend of stifle well developed second thighs and let down hocks.
