Golden Retrievers

Judge: Miss L A Harper (Glynerva)

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge at their Christmas open show, the hot refreshments and mince pies were very welcome. Thanks also to Southern Golden Retriever Society for the supported entry. To my very efficient stewards thank you for keeping everything running smoothly. My sincere thanks to the exhibitions who braved the cold and wind in the outdoor ring I think we were all grateful it stayed dry, however it did unsettle a few of the dogs.

Minor Dog (1)

1. Riley’s Wylloh Paddington Bear – A 10 month old boy shown in good coat and conditions. Masculine but soft expression with lovely dark pigment. He has balance front construction, leading to a level topline and he is short coupled. Nice short hocks and lovely neat feet. The windy weather put him off slightly on the move. He stood alone in this class but a worthy winner.

Puppy Birch (2/1)

1. Healey’s Marsabit Celtic Harp - 9 month old girl with a very pretty head and gentle expression. She has a good layback of shoulder and matching return of upper arm, dead level topline and good tailset, which she held level on the move. Good length of leg, well bent stifle and nice tight feet. She just pipped the dog puppy for BPIB with her lovely free flowing movement.

Junior (8/3)

1.Russell-Bond’s Rosinante Here We Go Again - One I have judged before and awarded best puppy. Only 13 months old and shown in pale cream coat she has a beautiful soft melting expression and the most pleasing balanced outline with no exaggeration, good spring of rib, short coupled and level topline. Moved out true forward and back and stood four square on the neatest of feet. I am sure she has a bright future ahead. Delighted to award her BOB

2. Russell-Bond’s Rosinante Guinevere – Sister to the winner and another quality girl with a slightly larger flame, but similar comments apply, I liked her very much. She just lost out on movement in this class as she was a little unsettled but moved much better in the next class to win it in good company.

3. Jayakumar & Rajendran’s Zenevieva Bolder Than Brass

Graduate (10/4)

1. Russell-Bond’s Rosinante Guinevere – 2nd Junior

2. Williams Berrymeade Kilternan of Busheyhall – Handsome young man at 3 years old show in lovely mid gold coat, good bone and in super hard condition. Nice layback of shoulder, level topline, good tailset and tail carriage. Moved ok.

3. Todd’s Van Gough of Sunshine's Valley with Toddrosa (IMP BEL) JW

Post Graduate (6/3)

1. Russell-Bond’s Rosinante Here We Go Again 1st Junior

2. Pound-Longhurst’s Mossburn Golly Miss Molly JW – 4 year old girl in a lovely rich gold coat. She has the prettiest of heads and good reach of neck. Well sprung ribs, level topline, good turn of stifle, nice neat hocks, and lovely cat like feet. Moved out well.

3. Tubb’s Pauternapaws by the Sea with Alsutu

Open Dog (4/3)

1. Pound-Longhurst’s Mossburn Galloping Major JW – Brother to my 2nd in PG. Very handsome well-proportioned head, with nice dark eye. Good reach of neck and layback of shoulder with equal return of upper arm, good depth of chest, level topline and tailset. Lovely turn of stifle with the neatest of hocks and feet. Moved well once settled. He stood alone in this class but pleased to award him BOS

Open Bitch (6/1)

1. Russell-Bond’s Rosinante Here We Go Again 1st Junior & PG

2. Pett’s Rumwood Three Times a Lady - 5 year old girl in pale gold coat. Lovely dark pigment and a very pretty head. Good reach of neck and level topline, good strong loin, lovely turn of stifle and good width of thigh, neat hocks and good feet. Sound mover.

Veteran (4/2)

1. Pett’s Lady in Red De Ambersclan of Rumwood VW – An elegant lady at 9 years young and mother of 2nd in Open B. She certainly does not look her age and one of the best movers on the day. Soft gentle expression with lovely dark eye. She excels in front angulation with good depth of chest and well sprung rigs. Level topline which she held on the move. Good turn of stifle allowing her to move round the ring with ease. Not quite in best coat today but no denying her RBOB

2. Williams Catcombe Christingle of Busheyhall – Handsome 7 year old enjoying his day out. In good condition and a lovely wavey coat. He moved our very well with good reach and drive.
