The Vanessa Rogers Memorial Special Event

It was a great pleasure to judge the Special Event Classes at this very well run and friendly show and I’d like to thank the club for the invitation.

Puppies

Puppy dog (8 – 10 months)

1: Johnson & Pynegar’s SASHBOB NEVER WOULD I EVER FROM BERWYNFA, exciting 9-month-old and full of quality. His head properties are very good, but he doesn’t need any more wrinkle. Square in outline, he has a good neck, well crested into string firm topline and tail set bang on top. Enough angulation in front. He has depth of chest and a good underline. Strong in quarters and well muscled for his age, he really impresses on the move. A future title holder I have no doubt. BP

2: Merritt’s DICEULON TOP HAT AND TAILS AT MERQUIN, decent for type and he has lots to like. Pleasing head with good eye shape and decent expression. Would prefer a little more in front angulation but he is well ribbed and has depth to chest. Firm topline with slight slope. Balanced angulation behind, he is a tad loose on the move at present, but time is on his side.

3: O’Neil’s DICEULON BOW TIE AND TUX

Puppy Bitch (8-10 months)

1: Johnson & Pynegar’s SASHBOB MADDASAN HATTER, 9-month-old brindle obviously enjoying her day. Her outline is quite eye-catching, and she is square. Her head pleases for expression but could possibly have just a tad more length of muzzle. Decent neck in shoulder. She is well boned and ribbed, with depth. Feet need to tighten. Has a super underline and a well-set tail. Excellent in hind angulation and well muscled, on the move she is a little erratic but at least she was having fun.

Puppy Bitch (10-12months)

1: Longley’s LIMKYNS MOONLIGHT TANGO WITH ATTOMIC, 10-month red bitch who has a very feminine outlook. Head has decent proportions but would prefer a better eye shape. She is excellent for front assembly and has depth to her chest leading to a decent underline. Bone is in balance with her, and she is well muscled. Held her outline in profile, just a tad narrow on the out and back. In super condition.

Junior dog (12-15 months)

1: Hare’s JIMBREN THE IRISHMAN, 14-month brindle, all male and top end for size but screams type. His head proportions are spot on with the most in quizzical expression. Strong neck, well crested into firm topline with slight slope. Excellent forehand with good bone and the most wonderful feet. He has depth to chest but just needs to fill out slightly in front. Super underline and in the most fantastic condition. On the move he moved on the right track, and I can imagine that in an outdoor ring he could really motor. B Junior

Junior Bitch (12-15 months)

1: Godwin & Cherry’s JUMBREN DESTINED FOR LOVE WITH SULTASH. 12 month brindle of quality and femininity, her head proportions are super and she is totally square in outline. Decent neck into slightly sloping topline and well-set tail. She has enough in front but could possibly have a little more layback of shoulder. Good depth to chest and a super underline. Her muscle tone was exceptional, and she was balanced in angulation behind. On the move she used herself to advantage and this is where she clinched the class.

2: Hare’s JIMBREN QUEEN OF TARTS, 12-month brindle, again of super type, if not a smidge bigger. I liked her head and expression, and she was perhaps slightly better in forehand that the winner. She too had depth to her chest, but I would just prefer her ribbed back just a tad more. Super topline and well-set tail, she was in excellent condition. On the move she was precise going away but in profile was just a tad over enthusiastic and tending to overreach slightly. But youthful exuberance is not a failing.

3: Cherry’s CHERRYFORGE HINT OF RUSSIAN.

Junior Bitch (15-18 months)

1: Harvey & Bole’s HARVLIN MYSTIFICATION. 16 months brindle, who presents a pleasing outline, being square and balanced. Head and expression are good. She has depth to chest but just needs to fill a little in front. Decent for bone and feet. She has a slightly sloping topline and tailset well on top. Well-muscled, her hind quarter is balanced, and she is short from hock to heel. Moved ok, she was slightly erratic coming towards me, but in profile, she kept an outline.

Yearling Dog

1; Brown & Hutchings’ WINUWUK WALK IT TALK IT AI, all male brindle, in superb condition, pleasing head proportions, but perhaps would prefer a slightly better eye shape. Decent forehand and pleasing topline with well set tail. He had depth to chest, super underline leading to balanced hindquarter with dog behind the tail. On the move he is decent in profile and comes towards you well. He just needs to strengthen going away.

Yearling bitch

1: Brown & Hutchings’ WINUWUK WALKING ON SUNSHINE, On initial glance this red bitch does not instantly catch your eye as her colouring could be considered a little plain and does not have the flashiness of some. However, once you look into her, you cannot help but be impressed. She is a superb shape and is totally balanced in outline. Her forehand is exceptional, she has depth to chest, superb underline and excellent angulation behind, without being exaggerated. In superb muscle condition. Her head proportions are super, although for perfection, I would perhaps prefer a slightly better shape to her eye. On the move she is precise and sound and carries herself so well in profile. She should title but if not, her outstanding breed points will be invaluable in the whelping box. BY and Best Overall.

2: Jones & Charles’ CHARLONS VIV LA DIVA, another top-class bitch, this brindle is also champion quality. Her head and expression were divine, and I actually preferred her eye shape to the winner. She too is super to go over, being totally balanced and with excellent forehand, well ribbed and strong slightly sloping topline. On the move she takes the eye in profile, she was just a tad erractic on the final out and back and this is what tipped the scales. Will title I’m sure and I certainly won’t disagree when she does.

3: Humphries’ CHRIBANNA GOOD TIMIN. Completed a trio of excellent bitches.
