Terrier Group

I would sincerely like to thank the society for hosting such a wonderful show and the exhibitors for allowing me the pleasure of judging their dogs.

There were for me a couple of concerns with regards to some breeds within the terrier group today. Firstly, where the breed standard recommends or stipulates a height/size we must take notice of this, on more than one occasion dogs were in my opinion oversized.

Secondly Terriers should not be presented in an over groomed condition. A coat where the standard calls for a wiry texture should be just that. It also does not mean that a coat should be dirty or smelly. Two ends of the scale which I found today.

I found temperaments on the whole to be good with excellent handling skills throughout.

Border Terrier

1st Regan’s Digmoor Bright Sparkle

Lovely expression, with a good otter shaped head, lovely dark pigment and well placed neat ears and good mouth. Ample length in neck with good shoulders and straight front. Good depth of chest and holding a good topline on the move and in good coat

2nd Masefield Fevstone Rosie Posie

Slightly lighter in frame to the first, nice feminine head with neat ear and dark pigment and good mouth. Good depth of chest and topline. Moved well.

1st Gwilliam’s Ragatam Isla At Louajak

Very feminine in expression with a lovely dark eye with a good mouth. Ampe length in neck into well-placed shoulders, good straight front. Nice, neat feet, decent fore chest and good depth of chest. Good rear angulation and moved well and good coat.

2nd Regan’s Digmoor Turn The Page

Heavier set dog who has the bests of heads, it was a close decision between these two however this chap today was a little reluctant to show himself to his best advantage. Excellent expression with dark pigment, good mouth, well bodied with super rear angulation and muscle tone.

1st Gwilliam’s Fisherbloom Don’t Stop Me Now at Louajak BOB

Balanced dog with a lovely otter head and super expression. Good mouth, neat well-set ears. Good length in neck into well placed shoulders, straight front and good depth of chest, and ample length in back. Neat feet, good tail set which was held on the move.

1st Bubb’s Wandris Please Yourself JW BOB

Very balanced bitch, excellent head with a super expression and lovely dark eye. Neat ears and good mouth. Lovely muscular body, with good front, and great depth of chest, correct harsh coat. Good correct rear angulation moved well and good tail set which was held on the move.

2nd Keeves Seveek Peaches N Dream

Not quite the body of the first, however she is very feminine looking lady with a super attitude and expression. Good mouth and ear set, ample fore chest and correct length in back. Moved okay once settled.

Beautiful bitch who has a super head and expression, excellent mouth, well set ears with dark eyes. Lovely fore chest, correct front, ample rib and length in back. Well muscled, a good tail set and good coat.

2nd Bingham’s Carradine Bumbling Boris

Handsome dog who has a lovely expression, good mouth and dark eye. Not quite the front of the first, good chest and length in back. A Good coat, good tail set and moved well

1st Burrage’s Komidion Sontata For Sametova

Neat young man, good head with enough stop, with dark eyes and well-placed triangular ears and good mouth. Good length in neck, ample chest, would have preferred slightly more forearm. Well-muscled and good coat and moved okay once settled.

1st Burrage’s Komidion Prima Donna Of Sametova BOB

A lovely quality veteran! Which you would not have known as she carried her age extremely well. Super head with good length and stop, dark eye and good mouth. Neat well placed triangular ears. Good length in neck, ample spring of rib and length in forearm, good coat and neat feet. Excellent body shape, super fit and moved with ease holding a good topline and tail set.

2nd Burrage’s Sametova Bacary

Not quite the presence of the first or outline, good head with well-placed ears and lovely dark eye, good mouth. Well bodied, nice length in neck and depth of chest. Moved okay

Well balanced puppy with a lovely head with lovely expression, neat well-placed ears, lovely dark eye and good mouth. Good front with developing fore chest, correct front and great depth of chest. Good topline, neat feet and good rear angulation moved well.

2nd Davies & Brown’s Wystry Agony and Ecstasy

Slightly larger case than the first but another balanced puppy, great head with a dark eyes, good mouth. Ample reach of neck into well placed shoulders and good front. Developing chest and good topline which was held on the move.

3rd Walker’s Wystry Depths of Glory For Sizlin

Beautiful outline with a super head, and great expression. Neat well placed ears, good mouth and lovely dark eyes. Correct front into well placed shoulders and fore chest. Lovely neat feet. Ample depth of chest and tuck up, correct topline, with good rear muscled hindquarters. Moved well, holding a good tail set and super Terrier spirit.

2nd Davies and Brown’s Ch. Digelsa Dark Indulgence at Wystry JW

This beautiful bitch unfortunately didn’t appear to be enjoying her day today. She has breed standards in spades, with a super typical outline with a lovely head, expression with the neatest of ears and good mouth. Lovely, muscled body throughout moved okay.

Nice youngster who has a good head with well placed, dark eyes and good mouth. Developing fore chest and depth of chest. Nice coat with good texture, good topline moved better moving away.

Balanced and compact with a good head, neat ear set and good mouth. Good length in neck leading into well placed shoulders and good front with neat feet. Good topline which was held on the move.

Not quite the balance of the first, typical expression with neat ears, dark and good mouth. Good coat, and muscular body. Moved well

Handsome dog with a super head and cracking expression, good mouth, neat ears and dark eyes with good pigment. Compact outline with a good front, fore chest and neat feet. Moved freely with drive holding a level topline on the move with correct tail set.

2nd Kay’s Jackopeaks This is Me

Typical terrier type with a great attitude to match, lovely body shape with a super topline. Well muscled and great angulation, moved well.

Just 6 months old and boy didn’t she sparkle. Super head with a beautiful expression, good mouth and neat well-placed ears. Lovely front, and developing body, good rear angulation and correct tail set. In good coat. Moved around the ring like a pro holding a good topline.

2nd Davis Watercroft Cosmic Dust

Another smart young dog who has a great head and lovely dark eyes, neat well placed ears and good mouth. Compact body with good depth of chest and good tail set. Moved well

Fabulous young dog, who has a super outline and strength in head. Good mouth, strong under jaw and neat ears. Good length in neck into well placed shoulders and developing fore chest. Correct body shape which is balanced and well-muscled. Good tail set and moved freely with drive.

2nd Howle’s Dinglebrooke I Can

Not quite the outline of the first, very typical head and expression with a correct mouth, dark eyes and well-placed ears. Good front with ample depth of chest and maturing body. Moved okay

1st Curtis Jolihem Lene Joe Badger

A very close call between these two there were many points to consider about in this class however I preferred the overall breed type and size of the first.

Typical outline which is easily recognisable, good strong head with good mouth, neat eats and lovely dark eye. Correct length in neck, good shoulders and correct front. Ample depth and breath of chest, moved with ease around the ring.

2nd Bettis Ch. Nunneley Hopstotch Over Ornella JW

Another lovely dog who was groomed to perfection, larger cast than the first, with a powerful head, good mouth, lovely dark eyes and neat ears. Correct length in neck, leading into a balanced and well-muscled body. Good rear angulation and tails set moved well.

What a class of super quality puppies, I was spoilt for choice and without doubt these youngsters will be swopping placing in the future.

1st Thompson’s Oakfayre’s Whiplash Weasel BP

Beautiful white Miniature Bull Terrier, of correct size a super head with the correct amount of curve and fill. Correct mouth and a piercing dark eye, neat well-placed ears. Good length of neck into well placed shoulders and straight front and neat feet. Developing fore chest and depth of chest, balanced and well-muscled in body with good rear angulation. Moving with a typical and correct jaunty movement and good tail set.

2nd Heron’s Dilirystaff Mateo

Just six months old but a super puppy for his age, well balanced and developing in the right direction. Good head with super round dark eyes, correct mouth and handsome expression. Good length in neck, well placed shoulders, ample fore chest and depth of chest for his age. Compact in body and good well went down hocks, moved well.

Good outline, with a feminine head, super large teeth and sell set ears. Straight front, lovely deep chest and balanced body with a well angulated rear. In super coat and moved well.

2nd William’s Tillbach Apollo, top sized young man, egg shaped head with curve would have preferred a little more fill. Well placed ears and moved well holding a goof topline.

Beautifully compact bitch with a lovely feminine expression, good mouth, dark eye and neat ears. Ample length in neck, lovely forechest, depth of chest and tuck up. Good covering of muscle without being overdone, super rear angulation and moved with drive holding a level topline.

2nd Cox’s Silverbriar Imogen Of Petitpaws

A head which is very typical of the breed with strength but remaining feminine throughout, good mouth and great expression. Good length in neck and deep chest with straight front. Balanced in body and in good coat, moved with ease around the ring.

1st Atkin’s Holbam Celtic Rose JW

Lovely Irish who has a super balanced outline, lovely head with super neat ears and good mouth and strong underjaw. Arched neck leading into well placed shoulders and straight front and neat feet. Good depth of chest and tuck up, moved out with drive and held a good topline and tail set.

2nd Atkin’s Ch. Holbam Celtic Summer ShCM

Close call between these veterans who are an absolute credit to the Terrier Group. Excellent balanced outline, with super head and good reach of neck. Moved well with little effort holding a good topline.
