Litchfield Canine Society -Whippet Critique 

My thanks to the officers and committee for inviting me to judge whippets at their very well-run 2-day premier open show. As always, thank you to my 2 stewards Mike and Doug who were very efficient and above all thank you to all exhibitors for bringing their dogs for my evaluation.

Puppy, (6,1)

1st) Glithero & Philo, Mr PR, Mrs S & Ms SR, Palmik Against All Odds For Coppershell- Upstanding brindle dog, good head, oval eye and rose shaped ears and correct scissor bite, clean through the neck, well developed front. Pasterns strong with slight spring, gentle rise over the loin and good turn of stifle, hocks well let down. Moved well from all directions.

2nd) Jones, Mrs KJ & Mr JD, Jothryn Manhattan Blondie- Feminine brindle bitch, not as settled as 1. Lovely feminine head, rose ears, and correct scissor bite front assembly developed enough for age, gentle rise to loin and well angulated behind. Once she settled she moved well from all angles.

3rd Lloyd Ms JM- Penwincoed Amazing Grace

Junior (5,4)

1st) Jones, Mrs KJ & Mr JD, Jothryn Johny Be Good- Brindle litter brother to 2nd in puppy. Ideal for size, he has a lovely head, oval eye, fine rose shape ears and correct scissor bite. Slightly arched neck and lovely front assembly with shoulders well laid, strong pasterns, slight rise to his loin, well-turned stifle and hocks well let down. Moved soundly from all angles with drive and purpose. BPIB and pleased to see him go Puppy Group 2.

Postgraduate (5,2)

1st) Lloyd, Ms J M, Jothryn Beyond Blonde Avec Penwincoed- Pretty fawn and white bitch, well balanced bitch, good head, correct rose shape ears and correct scissor bite, neck slightly arched, well balanced front assembly, slight rise to her loin, well angulated behind which was put to use on the move. Pushed hard for RBOB just felt she could have used herself a bit more in the challenge.

2nd) Lockley, Miss F- Crosscop Show me- Fawn dog, lovely head, rose shaped ears and correct scissor bite. Clean through the neck and shoulders well placed. Well-muscled back and hind quarters well angulated. Moved soundly just preferred the outline of 1 stacked.

3rd)Disney, Miss A- Falconcrag Headover Heels for Snowleana

Limit (5)

1st) Wayman, Miss H- Ranveli Beach Boy at Scrarletfair- Brindle and white dog, shown in good condition, pleasing outline, well-proportioned head, oval eye, rose ears and correct scissor bite, neck elegantly arch into well placed shoulders, good depth of brisket. Back strong and gentle rise to loin, well angulated behind with hocks well let down. Moved soundly pleased to award him RBOB.

2nd) Rawlinson & Searle, MS M & Miss N, Reffton Tibalt At Whipsearle JW (IMP ESP) -a dog I have judged as a youngster and is now fully mature, red fawn dog of different type to first, he wasn’t as settled as he could have been today. attractive head, neck elegantly arched, well placed shoulder, strong pasterns, strong through his back, well-muscled hind quarters and well let down hocks. Moved well.

3rd) Vaughan-Wall, Mrs A- Shirotae Paws For Song

Open (5,2)

1st)Mcnally Mr J & Mrs L- Ramta’s Lady of Slumber at Conekesheved a balanced, brindle and white bitch who is ideal for size. Lovely feminine head, oval eye, correct rose shaped ears and correct scissor bite, well placed front assembly with shoulders well laid and legs falling beneath her, strong pastern with slight spring, bladed bone .Good depth of brisket with good fill to fore chest and ribbing carried well back. well-muscled back, gentle rise to loin. Well angulated behind hocks well let down. Moved well, shown in lovely condition. BOB

2nd) Lloyd, Ms J M- Sail on Sailor to Penwincoed- A well made fawn dog good head and rose shape ears, correct scissor bite, good length of neck, well constructed front deep brisket, strong in back and gentle rise to his loin. Well angulated behind and hocks well let down. Moved well, I just preferred the overall shape of 1st.

3rd) Wayman, Miss H- Collooney Charlie Brown at Scrarletfair JW
