Always a lovely show to judge at. Many thanks to the exhibitors and Committee for inviting me.

Rough Collies

Some super dogs here. A very pleasing entry to judge

Puppy Dog/Bitch (3,1)

1st Toogood’s Hanvale Ralph Lauren: Really lovely young puppy for make and shape. Developing along such nice lines. Nice and masculine with well-proportioned head, with scope to develop more on maturity. Very good parallel head planes. Eyes are medium in size and almond in shape with correct set. Ears are well set, and he was using them ok when he concentrated. Well arched neck leading to well laid shoulders. Good return of upper arm. Ok for bone. Deep chest. Steady enough in topline. Well angulated stifles and firm low set hocks. Well set and carried tail. Coat ok for age. Moves with great purpose and a lovely length of stride. Shows really great potential for the future. RBOB.

2nd: Well’s Gataj Little Miss Sassy at Terelimon. This was a very sweet puppy with a beautiful expression. Like 1st, good eyes for shape and set. Ears are well set. Neck shows some arch. She is nicely built but still needs to develop in chest as she is currently just a tad narrow all through. Needs to develop in substance. Level topline. Well set tail and sound mover. Well handled.

Post Grad Dog/Bitch (6,1)

1st: Rowlinson’s Hanvale Alexander McQueen. Another high-quality puppy and brother to 1st in previous class. Such a great masculine head without being overdone. Good strength of underjaw. Gorgeous eyes for shape and set and, and these, along with his typical parallel head planes and great ear set give him a most wonderful expression. Has enough length through the skull without being snipey and weedy. Really great front with excellent shoulders and upper arm. Deep chest of good width. Slightly more mature in body that 1st in previous class. Can stand just a little square in outline at present. Well bent stifles. Strong, firm hocks. Tail set and carriage is good. In great coat. Super sound mover with nice reach and drive. Another with great potential. Not much between him and his brother. Congratulations to the breeder. BOB

2nd: Toogood’s Hanvale Ralph Lauren

3rd: Margett’s Collingvale Campari

Open Dog/Bitch (4,1)

1st: Margett’s Collingvale Cava. This was a really classy bitch. I loved her head and expression. Eyes are almond in shape and set slightly obliquely. Well-proportioned skull to muzzle and parallel head planes. Good strength to underjaw. Ears are well set. Very feminine. Arched neck. Not quite as good in front as the BOB & RBOB. Upper arm could angle back just a tad more. Deep chest, ribs carried well back. Firm topline. Well bent stifles. Well set and carried tail which is also of correct length. Very sound, ground covering mover. Little in between coats. Not quite the verve of the youngsters.

2nd: Lyall’s Santaloly’s Sky Amidalas. Attractive bitch. Eyes are ok for set and shape. Not using her ears so well today and perhaps a tad large and low set. Slight arch to neck, but a little more length would be ideal. Moderate angulation fore and aft. Deep chest. Firm enough in topline. Nice proportions. Moves soundly, but not as clean as the winner.

German Shepherd

Open Dog/Bitch (4,3)

1st: Shaw’s Astradine Kornishman JW. This was a quite typical GSD. Good head with good expression. Well-proportioned in skull to muzzle. Good length to neck. Well laid shoulders and angulation of upper arm. Deep chest of good width. Topline is firm. Good strength in rear with well-turned stifles and well set, firm hocks. In great condition. Moved effortlessly in the heat. BOB

Smooth Collie

Post Grad Dog/Bitch (2,1)

1st: Riva’s Manordeifi Rock On. A big lad. Masculine throughout. Well-proportioned, but quite strong in head. Shows balance throughout. Strong in bone. Quite well proportioned. Firm topline. Moderate angulation. Tail set on correctly and carried well on the move. Sound mover but could be more precise. RBOB

Open Dog/Bitch (1,0)

1st: Warren & Lusty’s Coldelee Jupiter Rises with Blamorder JW. This one really appealed for overall make and shape. Well-proportioned head. Good parallel head planes. Enough strength to underjaw. Eyes are good for shape and set and dark in colour. Neck ok for length. Could have a tad more arch for my preference. Moderate shoulders. Upper arm could angle back a shade more. Deep chest of good width. Firm topline. Great outline. Moderate turn of stifle. Well set tail. Just a tad high stepping in front but covers the ground well. Won BOB here for overall type and conformation. BOB

Lancashire Heeler

Open Dog/Bitch (1,0)

1st: Gordon’s Ch Foxthyme Eleanor With Troutop. She may be nearly 12, but my notes just say ‘what a cracker’. I absolutely loved her type, make and shape. Stunning outline. Great head with the most charming expression. Good length to neck. Excellent front with great shoulders and upper arm. Good width and ideal depth of chest. Super ribbing. Firm topline. Excellent turn of stifles and well-set hocks. Super tail set. Superb mover – even for her age. I loved her. What a career she must have had! BOB

Schnauzer

Post Grad Dog/Bitch (2,1)

1st: Morgans’ Leebren Midnight Star Gazer at Hexenmeister. Very well-presented Schnauzer. Very keen expression with good dark eyes. Well set ears. Neck is moderate in length. Moderate angulation. Chest reaches to elbows. Firm topline. Excellent proportions. Moved soundly.

Open Dog/Bitch (2,0)

1st: Bawden & Brown’s Ch Amigris Ain’t Misbehavin at Khanate. Pepper & Salt. Stood out here for me. Great breed type. Excellent expression with well-proportioned skull to muzzle. Forehead and top of muzzle form great parallel line. Dark oval eyes. Moderate length of neck. Well angulated shoulders. Good breastbone which is well positioned. Square and strong in body. Strong topline. Firm loins. Good stifles and nice and muscular. Super mover with good reach and drive. Great wiry jacket. BOB

2nd: Daws, Toms & Toms. Minnienoom Navigator. Dark eyes. Keen expression. Ears are well set. Neck is of good length. Moderate angulation of shoulders. Good bone. Deep brisket and well sprung ribs. Firm topline. Stifles a little straighter than 1st, but well balanced with front. Harsh coat. Moved soundly. Well presented. RBOB

AV Special Beginners

1st: Ellis’ Tabanyaruu Borealis Bliz. A very sweet Finnish Lapphund that was so well handled and presented. Nice breed type and good to go over. Moved very well in profile. In super condition.

2nd: Grimshaw’s Malrich Hey Jude. Basset Hound. Very handsome. Masculine head and wonderful expression. Very nicely constructed and looked a picture in the sunshine. Firm all over and showed good strength, precision and ground coverage on the move.

3rd: Guernari & Dane’s Cynetkoy’s Tinker Tailor.
