BAKEWELL OPEN SHOW

SATURDAY 14th JULY 2024

Thank you to the obviously very hard working committee for the invitation to judge this lovely and very well run show, set in beautiful countryside.

BASSET FAUVE DE BRETAGNE

JUNIOR (1)

1. Jones’ BLEVWIL HELTER SKELTER. 14 month old dog, very nice head, domed skull and arch to muzzle with a kind expression from well shaped dark eyes, strong neck. Slightly unbalanced standing, upper arm and shoulder angulation not quite matching his muscular hindquarters so tending to roach his topline when standing correctly. Well ribbed back and coat of harsh texture, stands on neat, tight feet. Moved very soundly and actively with correct tail carriage. A shame he was alone. Best of Breed.

WHIPPETS

POST GRADUATE (3)

1. Ryan’s SYLLEKA FIREBIRD AT RIOCIFE. Beautiful brindle/white bitch, classy and shapely with everything in the right place, harmoniously constructed and with a very elegant and balanced outline. Gentle outlook, head well shaped with a strong jaw, expressive dark eyes, small ears. Long neck into well laid shoulders, good forechest, deep brisket, strong loin, wide strong thighs and strong straight limbs. Elegance and power. Moves so easily, without effort, fluidly and smoothly with perfect footfall. Best of Breed & delighted to see her win the Hound Group.

2. Buchwald’s DAPPERDIVA FOUR ROSES. Very feminine fawn/white, shapely with good tuck up. Preferred the head shape of 1, finer boned, standing over a lot of ground, presenting a typical outline with a good tuck up and standing n well arched feet, looks built to run. Moved very freely and truly with drive from her strong sweeping hindquarters.

3. Dobson’s KAYMARK KAPTAIN

OPEN (3, 1 Abs)

1. Ryan’s SYLLEKA SASHAY AWAY AT RIOCIFE. Mature bitch, presenting a good outline, standing over a lot of ground and in hard muscular condition. Feminine head of good proportions, long neck, deep through the heart and with a good tuck up, straight front and rear, moved with freedom and drive. Reserve Best of Breed.

2. Cottrell’s BLACKSTEM BE TRUE TO ME. Mature fawn/brindle dog, carrying a little too much weight. Pleasing head and expression, masculine but gentle, long neck well placed into shoulders, deep brisket and well filled in front, preferred him to 1 in this respect, straight front and rear, strong bone and feet, overall a well made dog with a good topline, moved steadily and truly.
