SUNDAY 14th APRIL 2024

What a super friendly and well run show this was, my thanks to the hardworking committee and all of the exhibitors for a lovely entry on a very busy show calendar Sunday. The puppies in particular were very impressive.

AVNSC IMPORTED REGSITER PUPPY (1)

1. Slack’s GRANDE MISTERIO INCANTO HEAVEN EVERSBABES. Russian Toy Terrier, B/T long hair dog 8 months, very lovely example all breed attributes present, sweet temperament, pleasing head with well carried large ears, typical topline, good length of leg compared to body depth, elegant, moved very positively and soundly, must have a bright future. Best AVNSC Import & Best AVNSC Import Puppy.

AVNSC GUNDOG PUPPY (5, 3 Abs)

1. Cook’s EXELBY EMRYS. Labrador Retriever, yellow dog, 6 months on the day and showing so much promise, lovely head with kind expression beautifully made and well-proportioned, short coupled and compact with very good double coat. Straight front and rear and correctly angled, moved so very truly and soundly tribute to his construction.

2. Radcliffe’s SNIPERAY SUITE NOTE. Beautiful 6 month old Pointer bitch, standing looks an absolute picture, but today not so positive on the move in a small ring, close coming and going, just needs to fill out and tighten, though profile movement was good. A feminine well proportioned and defined head, chiselled with a kind expression, body proportions very pleasing symmetrical and short coupled, well boned and standing on well arched feet.

AVNSC GUNDOG POST GRADUATE (5, 2 Abs)

1. Cook’s EXELBY NORMAN. 11 month old well grown Labrador Retriever, black male, strongly made and built, active and enthusiastic, a little longer cast, but so typical of his breed. Masculine head, intelligent expression, excellent angles all through, thick double coat in lovely condition, well muscled, moved powerfully, truly and levelly in all directions. Pressed hard by his baby kennel companion, Best AVNSC Gundog & Gundog Puppy.

2. Radcliffe’s SNIPERAY MATTIBOO KILLER QUEEN. Lemon/W Pointer bitch, another with a very pleasing outline, very well made with a beautiful head, good angulation throughout, strong bone and well arched feet, moves freely with extension and drive in profile, but not so positive coming and going, needed a bigger ring to stride out fully.

AVNSC GUNDOG OPEN (2)

1. Fajardo’s GLOWHILL SPICKS AND SPECKS AT SANMATAYO. Blue roan Cocker Spaniel dog, carrying too much weight especially over the shoulders, but overall so well constructed, good angulation all through, well ribbed and short coupled, strong back, straight front and rear, moved very soundly if not a little sluggishly. Would like to see him again in harder condition, he has a pleasing head with good skull to muzzle ratio and an appealing expression from dark eyes.

2. Mair’s HIGHPOWLEY ROYAL ROSE. Black Labrador bitch, very feminine and every inch a worker, overall well constructed, sweet head and kind expression, excellent neck and shoulders, good forechest and upper arm, straight front, good topline, not quite the same strength in the rear, but moves so very soundly and freely.

Black Flat Coated Retriever dog, presenting a lovely balanced outline standing, so typical, moderate with everything in the right place. Lovely kind masculine head, not overdone, neck well placed into good shoulders, straight front and balanced rear angulation good topline and upper arm placing forelegs well under. 2. Wilson’s NICOLAS DREAM. Very pretty Whippet bitch, 8 years, lovely feminine head, good neck, upper arm and hind angulation. AVNSC PASTORAL PUPPY (1)

1. Melvin & Jopson’s PRINCE OF SUNLIGHT ZENDAYA NITHVIEW. Absolutely stunning 6 month old Shetland Sheepdog, unfortunately very unsettled, but has a most beautiful head and expression, well placed ears and obliquely set almond eyes, strong bone and feet, elegance without coarseness, very well proportioned all through with a straight front and rear. Moved actively with vigour. I hope he settles as he has that star quality to have a great future. BAVNSC Pastoral Puppy.

AVNSC PASTORAL POST GRADUATE (3)

1. Richardson’s NIEDERSACHENS PRIDE OVER NIGHT SENSATION AT STORINBLU. 13 month old Old English Sheepdog, underneath a correct harsh coat is a most beautifully and strongly made male, so correct all through, lovely masculine head well balanced with a kind eye, well defined stop, strong jaw and black nose, super neck and shoulders, good topline, excellent angulation. Like so many of the bigger dogs, could not quite get into his stride in a ring which favoured the smaller breeds, pacing, but there were moments of brilliance, showing reach and drive. A very impressive young dog, will watch his future with interest. BAVNSC Pastoral & Reserve Best In Show.

2. Barnes’ HIGHBROOK ISLE OF DREAMS. Shetland Sheepdog bitch, lovely feminine head and sweet expression from dark eyes, good forechest and hindquarter angulation, fine yet strong bone and good feet.
