Guildford & District Canine Society

Guildford and District Canine Society

30th November 2024

Thank you to the officers and committee for inviting me to judge. Guildford is my hometown, so this appointment was incredibly meaningful to me as it was the first show I went to as a child in the early 80s. When I walked into the venue and saw the sea of exhibitors, it was a joyous sight and reminded me of how shows used to be. Thank you to my wonderful steward, always so grateful to those who give up their time to volunteer.

Lagotto Romagnolo

Junior (5,1)

1st Made Chianti for Timtaurn JW (Mrs A Stephenson). Pleasing feminine bitch of 16 months of age. Presented an excellent squarely built outline. Good head correct proportions with strong muzzle. Short, muscular and slightly arched neck into shoulders that are moderately laid back. Well ribbed back leading to short loin. Strong well-muscled hindquarters. excelled in movement, holding topline on move. Very good coat texture, however presented in a shorter coat today. BOB

2nd Bedeslea Prada Paradoxe (Mr J & Mrs S Cuddy) Sweet male of just 6 months. Slightly square outline, Head proportions correct, short neck, shoulders moderately laid back. Deep chest with close elbows. Correct forehand angulation. Well ribbed, short loin. Well off for Puppy coat with good texture. Moved out well obviously enjoyed his day out. BP & RBOB

Post Graduate (3,1)

1st Clamerkin Meadow Brown (Miss A Cassin) pleasing young bitch. Good head proportions, short neck, well laid-back shoulders. Holds topline well on move however, would benefit from time to improve in front and have more drive from behind.

2nd Clamerkin Brown Onyx (Mr C S James) Litter brother to 1st similar stamp to sister, pleasing head proportions, short neck and well laid shoulders, well ribbed back and good bend of stifle. Wooley texture to coat. Comments on movement of 1st apply here also.

Irish Red and White Setter

Junior (1,0)

1st Roanjora Cremant D’Alsace JW (Mr R G, Mrs A D & Miss R McDonald) This young lady beat her Mum for BOB, for me she excelled in movement showing beautiful drive. Strong skull but all feminine, kind eye and soft expression. Muscular arched neck flowing into strong forehand, this was seen as she moved out. Well ribbed back, good stifles and hocks strong. Beautiful flowing coat to finish the picture. A bright future. BOB

Open (1,0)

1st Roanjora Rioja Crianza (Mr R G, Mrs A D & Miss R McDonald). I learn this lovely girl was made up to champion last week. She has obviously put her stamp on her daughter. Many attributes apply to this lovely 4 year old girl. Gentle expression, good head. Muscular arched neck flowing into clean shoulders, good return of upper arm, straight front and good feet. Well ribbed back, preferred the rear angulation of her daughter. Moved out well but had to settle for RBOB today.
