JUNIOR HANDLING :
All the young handlers did a very good job with their dogs, showing calmly and effectively. My words of advice is be watchful of your dog on the table and ensure they are always stood correctly, especially when a judge moves a leg. Also when showing teeth, lift the mouth up towards the judge so I can see the teeth and not have to bend down to see them.
Class A : 6 – 11 years
1st Libby Rycroft – Lovely young handler handling a dachshund. Kept a calm demeanour at all times. The dog was stood correctly at all times, the lead was kept neat and not hanging loose. When moving listened to what I asked and moved in neat tight lines, always aware of where I was standing. A very clean performance.
2nd Anastasia Voutsis – this young lady was showing a Chihuahua who was very fidgety however the handler kept her cool and with very gentle handling and talking to the dog had the dog paying total attention to her and showed so very well. Moved in straight lines as asked and at the correct pace for the dog.
3rd Luke Saunders – This young man was handling a Dalmation who wanted to have far too much fun in the ring. Luke stayed calm throughout and kept control. Had the dog stading 4 square, but just remember when he moves to check his legs again. Moved the dog at the correct speed, not been obtrusive to the dog, kept clean lines on the move.
Class B : 12 – 16 years
1st Harriet Bruford – Very sympathetic handler showing a Mini Wire Dachshund. Showed the teeth well, had the dog stood perfectly on the table and was aware of the moved leg, however the dog repositioned itself, but glad the move had been noticed. The lead was never in the way, or hanging loose from the hand. Moved just as I asked and correct for the breed.
2nd Thomas Taylor – This young man with a terrier put in a lovely performance. On the floor he was aware of where I was standing, just be mindful of watching if the judge moves the dog on the table. Moved the dog nicely and effectively listening to what I asked.
3rd Lisa-Rose Saunders – This young lady showed the Dalmation who was delighted to be back in the ring. She had to work hard to keep the dog focused on her but she did it very well. Just needs to neaten the lines when moving, but moved at the correct pace for the dog and showed his teeth really well.
ADULT HANDLING :
1st Julie Williams – Showing a Corgi and showed to perfection. The handler was always aware of where I was standing whether on the move or walking down the line between the dogs. Had the dog stood perfect on the table and reset once I moved the legs. Moved the dog so it was only the dog I was watching and not the handler, clean lines, on standing back to the judge kept the correct distance.
2nd Ann-Marie Taylor – Showing a Border Collie. Had the dog stood very well, however just when the dog would fidget be mindful to set the dogs legs again so always correct for the judge looking. Very sympathetic handler who showed her dog to its advantage. Correct pace moving the dog and kept the lead out the way.
3rd Chloe Clarke – Showed an Irish Setter. Had the dog stood perfectly, good clean lines when moving, aware as I would walk between the dogs to ensure dog always on show, just needs to soften the handling and not stare too much to the judge.
