Judge – Kath Holt (Bethryn)

I would like to thank the society for their kind invitation to judge at this well run and very friendly show. The whole atmosphere was so pleasant and it was a pleasure to be able to judge some lovely dogs. Of course a huge thank you to the exhibitors who entered their dogs under me for my opinion. It was an honour to have such quality exhibits.

American Cockers

Post Graduate (2,1)

1, Lintons Afterglow Bambam with Ludzska – Stood alone but they say it is quality not quantity and this girl is certainly quality. 23m old buff bitch. Beautiful feminine balanced head with lovely chiselling, correct eye shape and colour making a beautiful expression. Lovely strong arched neck into well laid shoulder. Deep well sprung ribs, sufficient bone. Strong hindquarters. Moved beautifully around the ring using those powerful rear quarters. BOB

Field Spaniels

Puppy (1,1)

Junior (4,1)

1, Jones Sonnetend You Belong with me at Pennybeck Just 12m old bitch. Lovely head of correct shape, well chiselled, hazel eye, making for a feminine kind expression. She certainly had the best front construction in the class with well laid shoulder, sufficient forechest and width in front. Moved well with drive.

2, McVitty Sonnetend Eternal Flame Litter sister to 1 and a lot of the same applies to her. In profile I thought she would be my winner but just preferred the front on 1 and so she was pipped to the post by her sister. Beautiful feminine head with lovely strong neck.

2 Penniman and Wakefield Norris Northern Detective Totally different type to 1 14 month old dog and so much of him. Very strong and masculine, well off for bone. Was beaten by 1 she was more settled on the stack and move.

Post Graduate (3,1)

1 Hipgrave Lord of Glittering Caves at Ternspringer 19m dog. Super masculine head with lovely Sussex frown. Lovely expression, tight eyes of good colour. So well off for bone and stood on good round, well padded feet. Superb forechest. Strong slightly arched neck. Good lay back of shoulder. Lovely depth of body. Was having a great day out but when settled, had the perfect Sussex movement. He is maturing nicely and can’t wait to watch him grow. I just loved him! He could not be denied BOB today in good company.

2 Penneman & Wakefield Norris Northern Detective (as above)

Open (6,2)

1 Ashcroft Varya Velikolepnaya Iz Valley Wins at Torscha (Imp BLR) Lovely feminine head on this bitch with a typical Sussex expression. Good eye colour and shape. Lovely bone on her and a super front with excellent forechest. Deep body, a little shorter on the leg for me but moved beautifully with that recognised Sussex roll

2 Bradbury & Preston Harasteorra Big Bear JW a dog I judged as a puppy and loved him then. He is maturing well and I am sure he is going to trouble the best. Unlucky to meet 1 today. So masculine with lovely depth of body and such strength in his hindquarters. Powerful mover just didn’t feel he gave it his all today. I will watch him with interest
