Merseyside Gundog Club

Thank you The Merseyside Gundog Club for inviting me to judge at your show and to my kind and efficient stewards. Thank you to the exhibitors who entered their dogs; sadly there were a few absentees. I very much enjoyed my day in good company.

Breed: Large Munsterlander

Puppy (1)

1st: Darby’s Crumpsbrook Anneke to Incadar

10 month old bitch puppy. She has a lovely feminine, alert expression with dark eyes, correct bite and ear placement. Strong, slightly arched neck and well laid back shoulders. Good angulation fore and aft, would prefer more bone and less length in body. Straight front, strong pasterns with very nice, tight, slightly rounded feet. Not so confident stood in the ring but moved soundly and handled very well. RBOB and BPIB

Limit (1)

1st: Webb’s Albadhu Counting Stars

A 3.5 year old male presented in lovely condition with a smooth, dense coat. Kind, happy expression, dark eye, a slightly broader skull with well set ears. Perfect scissor bite and well formed, strong jaw. Nice, slightly arched, muscular neck, leading to well placed shoulders; sloping to a good, strong topline. Adequate depth of chest though would prefer more forechest and his elbows were a little out. Short coupled, well angulated, muscular loin and hind quarters. Good amount of bone, strong pasterns and correct feet. Moved well in profile. BOB

Breed: Bracco Italiano

Post Graduate (2)

1st: Warburton’s Owlspoint Loads of Trouble at Heberhouse JW

22 month old male. Nice head and correct oval eyes with a gentle expression, well set ears though I would prefer them longer. Strong, moderately short neck leading to well placed shoulders. Straight front and good angulation, elbows in line with withers. Adequate forechest and good depth of chest and correct underline. Well balanced outline. Good bone, leading to strong, tight, well arched feet. Good profile movement RBOB

2nd: Fazenfield and Smith’s Owlspoint Askin For Trouble

22 month old dog. Heavier head than his litter brother, in this class, and again would prefer longer ears though they are set correctly. A taller dog, longer in body, good depth and width of chest though would like more forechest. Lighter built in the hind quarters; his outline not as square as 1st. He moved well and was presented in very good condition.

Limit (3, 1 abs)

1st: Warburton’s Withamfriary Lush Blossom at Heberhouse

A 2.5 year old bitch with a lovely well balanced outline. Nice head, very feminine expression and correct length of ear. Correct scissor bite. Strong rounded neck smoothly leading to well positioned shoulders. Well angled front, adequate forechest and good depth of chest; reaching the elbows. Well muscled throughout. Correct topline, short coupled with a good tail set. Good bend of stifle, plenty of bone and the best feet. Handled well to move with drive. Pleased to award her BOB.

2nd: Bell’s Whitgun Renegade Master at Owlspoint JW

A 2.5 year old male presented in lovely condition. A kind expression, correct angles on head; complete scissor bite and large spongy nose. Good depth of chest but would prefer a little more forechest. His profile is square and balanced; with a good bend of stifle and well muscled rear. Moved well in profile; viewing from the front, his feet turned in slightly, which affected his front movement.

Limit (1)

1st: Pilatova’s Sabsky Svratka JW

3.5 year old bitch. I liked her kind expression, feminine head of correct proportions. Smooth, strong neck leading to well placed shoulders. Good front angulation, strong pasterns and well arched, tight feet. Her ribcage extends well back to a firm loin, holding a level topline. Good bend of stifle and well muscled hind quarters. Saw enough that she moved well though the floor surface and size of the ring made it difficult for these dogs to get into a good stride. RBOB

Open (4)

1st: Longbottom and Milby’s Gunalt Curtain Call JW

A 2.5 year old bitch. Well muscled and balanced outline; this girl was presented in the best condition. Aristocratic head of correct proportions; she has a pleasing intelligent expression. Correct scissor bite. Straight front, good amount of forechest, well developed chest, though I would prefer a little less tuck up. Good rear angulation with well turned stifles. Very nice arched and tight feet. Moved well, front and hind feet parallel, maintaining a level topline. BOB

2nd: Pilatova’s Sabsky Sasanka

A 6.5 year old bitch presented in immaculate condition. A feminine head, scissor bite, nice ear length. Smooth, long neck leading to strong forequarters. Good forechest, front straight though her front pasterns could be stronger and feet a little tighter. Well sprung ribs and depth of chest, longer in body, firm loin and well angulated rear. Moved well though her topline was not as strong as 1st.

3rd: Isherwood’s Sh Ch Gunalt Shweppes at Caleydene JW
