ABERYSTWYTH & DISTRICT CANINE SOCIETY – 06.10.24 Judge Mrs Karen Bambrook (Ravoakar)

Thank you to the secretary and committee for the kind invitation to judge Labradors at your show. Nice to see it well attended and as a committee you had thought of everything for the exhibitors, stewards and judges.

Absolutely thrilled that my Best of Breed won the Gundog group and later Best In Show, thank you to the two other judges for liking what I put through. My Best puppy also got recognised in group achieving second place.

Thanks also to the exhibitors who brought their dogs under me, truly humbled.

Puppy (2,0A)

1 Jones’ Serengoch’s Calistoga (6m B) Chocolate very much a baby as it should be. Feminine head, good eye colour and well set on ears. Well constructed, good width at chest with plenty of bone and had a balanced outline when stood and on the move. In good harsh coat with more to come on the tail, moved out well. BP

2 Evans & Mckee’s Eastdew Frankfurter (7m D) Yellow much bigger in size than 1, but still had a balanced outline. Good pigmentation, masculine head, good reach of neck and good forechest. In good coat, good thigh muscle and well let down hocks. Moved out well.

Junior (1,0A)

1 Jones’ Serengoch’s Knockin Boots (17m B) Chocolate with nice head shape, strong neck into a level topline. Better angulation in back than front. Plenty of bone, standing on neat feet. Overall a nice balanced shape with good otter tail, moved out well.

Graduate (2,1A)

1 Philips’ Brynlluan Ballerina at Sheenaron (2.5 yr B) Black with a feminine head and good eye colour, good reach of neck into a level topline. Enough bone but longer cast than I would like. Good turn of stifle and moved ok.

Limit (2,0A)

1 Rochevale Gypsy at Sheenaron (2 yr B) Yellow I have admired from outside the ring. Oozes femininity, kind head and soft expression with good eye colour. Good reach of neck leading to a level topline, outline flowed from head to tail. Good angulations and stands foresquare on neat feet, in good coat with correct otter tail. Moved steady fore and aft. 2 Essenhigh & Bishops Brynlluan Midnight Star (2.5 yr D) Black looking all male. Strong head but with a kind expression, with a strong neck leading to a level topline. Well balanced with good thigh muscle, good bone and wearing a thick harsh coat. Moved out well.

Open Bitch (2,0A)

1 Evans’ R CH Eminala Star Struck Farnfield (3 yr B) Yellow with a lovely feminine head and kind expression. Good reach of neck into a level topline. Enough bone but stands on nice neat feet. Good forechest and correct angulations. In good coat today which also covered the tail well. Good proportions creating a balanced outline stood and on the move. Moved the best today with ease and at one with owner. BOB

2 Evans’ Brynlluan Black Diamond at Bowsian (2.5 yr B) Black taller than 1 but still looks balanced. Broad in head with nice expression and good eye colour. Strong neck into a level topline. In good harsh coat today, moved well.
