LABRADORS – Judge Mrs Karen Bambrook (Ravoakar)

Thank you to the secretary and committee for the kind invitation to judge at the show and to my two stewards for their help in keeping the ring flowing.

Thanks also to the exhibitors who entered to allow me to assess their precious dogs.

Puppy (2,0A)

1 Bordacs’ Bellamar Heartbreaker – (8m B) Black with good bone, stands foursquare and steady for a youngster. Has the best double coat, feeling coarse to the touch with a good shaped otter tail. A feminine head with nice eye colour and well set on ears. Good forechest and correct angulations front and back. Neat feet with hocks well let down and has a beautiful balanced outline which is kept on the move, moving out well fore and aft. A shame it didn’t stop for group. BP

2 Head’s Quinstone Sapphire Storm – (7m B) Black slightly taller than 1 with good bone and neat tight feet. Double coat which felt soft to the touch today. Unsteady whilst standing which I don’t mind of a youngster but moved round the ring well. Lovely head with a gentle expression and good length of neck. Looking a little unbalanced in outline but shows promise for the future.

Junior (4,2A)

1 Young’s Potterspiney Ahsoka Tano – (14m B) Yellow with a feminine head, dark eye and good pigmentation. Good reach of neck into a level topline on the move. Good forechest and good front angulation. Has a balanced outline and good thigh muscle, moved out well.

2 Smiths’ Ravenous Meatball Ragnor – (16m D) Chocolate with a masculine head and good eye colour. Good reach of neck leading into a level topline. Enough forechest and plenty of bone and leg length. A good double coat with an otter shaped tail. Movement not as smooth as 1.

Post Graduate (3,0A)

1 Davis’ Rochevale Palm Reader JW – (2yr B) Black with a feminine head and good eye colour. Good reach of neck into a good lay of shoulder. Good forechest and spring of rib. Strong level topline which is kept on the move. Moved out well using strong rear muscles. Losing coat a little today but still plenty on the tail. Overall shape is balanced and stands four square always attentive to her handler. RBOB

2 Glaister, Bordacs & Bordacs – Bellamar Love Me Do JW – (23m B) Black with a good shaped head and nice eye colour. Good forechest and correct angulations. Muscular hindquarters helping with rear movement and keeping a level topline on the move. Overall shape and size is similar to 1, just preferred tail carriage on the move of winner.

Open (3,1A)

1 Neachell’s Suttonpark Consuela - (5 yr B) Yellow who oozes femininity. Lovely shaped head with a gentle expression and good eye colour. Strong neck leading to a level topline, her outline just flows from the head to the tail. Good bone and stands on neat feet. Good forechest and front and rear angulations help give this girl her balanced outline. Good turn of stifle and ample muscle helped her sound movement round the ring. BOB Showed well in group but sadly not placed.

2 Young’s Potterspiney Optimist Vision – (3yr D) Yellow with a masculine head but not overdone. Strong neck into good shoulders with good angulation. Plenty of bone and neat feet. In good double coat and nice tail used well on the move, straight and true.
