SHROPSHIRE GUNDOG SOCIETY – 26TH MAY 2024

GOLDEN RETRIEVERS

Thank you to the society for my kind invitation to judge this breed and to the Midland Golden Retriever Club for their support of the classes.

Thank you also to the exhibitors for their entries especially when the show was the day before a General championship show and to my 2 stewards Penny & Cheryl for their help in keeping the ring on the move.

Junior Dog (3,1a)

1 Williams’ Grassyards Harbour Lights Over Cesarka – 13 month old mid golden. Nice head with good pigmentation and nice expression. Good reach of neck into well placed shoulders, good bone. Short coupled and moved well once settled.

2 Parry’s Mitcharron Seren’s Legacy – 13 month old, pale in colour and up to height. Mature head, nice eyes and well set ears. Nice feet and good bone. Moved well.

Post Graduate Dog (4,0a)

1 Millington’s Golmas Guard of Honour at Jarabees JW – 2.5 year old golden, masculine head without being overdone, nice pigmentation. Nice neat feet, good front and balanced outline. Muscled up and moved well. Res Best Dog

2 Phillips’ Shebelta Sweet Soul Music JW – 2 year old lighter in coat than 1. Nice head shape, good pigmentation. Balanced outline, moved out well keeping a level topline.

Open Dog (6,2a)

1 Morriss-Garget & Morriss’ Goldmarker Coming Home to Garvin (AI) JW – 2.5 year old. Nice head with good pigment and expressive eyes. Good lay of shoulder with level topline which was kept on the move. Enough bone with lovely neat feet. Good feathering, well muscled and showed a balanced outline. Calm and steady mover. Best Dog and Best of Breed

2 Loverock’s Putjade Peaky Blinder at Lovissa – 6 yr old mid golden with a nice head and enough pigment. Straight front with tight feet, level topline and correct tail set. Moved well, preferred coat of 1.

1 List’s Haydengold Moment In Time – 13 month old mid golden with feminine head and lovely expression. Good pigmentation, good length of neck and good front. Neat feet with good bone, nice turn of stifle and presented a balanced outline. Best mover in the class. Best Bitch and Reserve Best of Breed

2 Taylor & Tenn’s Strettonhill Custom Made – 14 month old lighter than 1. Feminine head, nice reach of neck into good shoulders. Short coupled and moved well on good feet.

Novice Bitch (5,0a)

2 Falconer’s Cheek to cheek unbridled dreams for Siatham (IMP FRA) – 12 month old, cream. Feminine head with dark eyes. Strong neck, good front and neat feet. Well-muscled and moved out well – close call between 1 and 2

Post Graduate Bitch (4,1a)

1 Nelson’s Willowlawn Devon Belle at Cadwst – 6 year old cream. Lovely head and expression, good pigmentation. Good neck leading to a level topline. Bodied up, nice turn of stifle and moved out well.

2 Taylor & Tenn’s Strettonhill Carolina – 14 month old pale. Feminine head, good pigmentation. Good feet and angulation, bodied up well for age but lacking in feathering apart from on tail.

Open Bitch (4,1a)

1 Bufton & Riley’s Phoslas Polly Flinders – 4 year old cream. Feminine head showing enough pigmentation. Good reach of neck leading to a level topline. Enough bone, good angulation and moved out well – best in class. Res Best Bitch

2 Nelson’s Cadwst Eternal Flame – 4 year old mid golden. Up to size which lost out on movement today. Good pigmentation, balanced outline, good feathering and nice turn of stifle.
