Ashbourne & District Canine Society

Thank you for the society to judge the Working Group.  This is always a lovely show to attend with a great atmosphere.  Huge thanks to my two stewards who were in the ring from the start and stayed with me until the final placings in the group.  They both did a fantastic job keeping the ring ticking along.

Canadian Eskimo Dog

Puppy (2,0abs)

1st Hooley’s Akan Palmatum (BOB) (BP) (D) 6-month male of nice shape and balance. Still quite raw. Nice head shape with typical wedge. Clean bite and good pigment. Front angulation was ok. Still quite narrow in front now but should improve in maturity. Clean topline. Enough rear angulation, slightly light in bone throughout. Moved ok on up and down, and once settled had effortless strides. Slightly hindered by the small ring. Coat was coming through of correct texture. BOB and BP.

2nd Hooley’s Snoqualmie Fairy Firefly. (RBOB) (B) 6 month bitch. Another raw youngster who was being a challenge for her young owner today. Of good size and build. Head shape coming along nicely. Dark brown eye. Head is nice for age. Strong medium neck. Front slightly short in upper arm. Good in topline. Enough spring to rib. Strong rear and tight feet. Presented in a good but slightly soft coat. A challenge on the move. She is put together nicely but unfortunately ran away from handler on the move so hard to fully appreciate her. RBOB.

Dobermann

Puppy (6,4bs)

1st Moore’s Elmorell Ready for It. (B) What a beautiful youngster she is. Presents such a lovely shape at her tender 6 months and plenty of potential. Pretty head. Typical blunt wedge. Ears of good shape and set tight to head. Dark almond eye. Good pigment. Enough length of neck. Correct in body length with good topline. Chest going in right direction with plenty of breathing space. Balanced angulation throughout with good length of upper arm at front and enough turn of stifle and strong hock. Beautiful condition throughout. On the move she is clean in all directions bar the odd puppy skip. Presented in excellent condition. Loved to watch her. She demands your attention and shows real character. Pleased to award her Best Puppy and Puppy Group 3. Will have a promising future I’m sure. BP, PG3.

2nd Timm’s Aritaur Return to Play with Olijah (B) (BP) Another nice youngster. Larger cast than my winner and at this stage not as well balanced and going through the leggy stage. Head has nice proportions. Clean neck. Longer in body than first but good spring of rib. Well boned and good muscling to rear. Presented in good coat and condition. Slightly untidy on the move going through the growing stage. Front had clean paces but had tendency to crab at the rear.

Special Yearling (3,2abs)

1st Webb’s BIH GCH/BIH/FED/BIH.SLO CH Protocol’s The Midals Touch (IMP USA) JW (D) (RBOB) 23 months male. He presents a really lovely shape on first inspection from all angles. Masculine head with good length of muzzle and typical blunt wedge shape. Almond brown eye with nice pigmentation. Good width to skull with correct flatness to top. Strong neck of good length. Chest at correct level. Just needs to finish filling out. Strong bone throughout. Nice front with good lay of shoulder and enough upper arm. Toned body with moderate rib. Well muscled to rear. Ok on rear angulation. Tight feet. On the move he held his topline well. Again, slightly untidy on rear movement, the small ring not helping. RBOB.

Post Graduate (2,1abs)

1st Moore’s Tuwos National Hero of Elmorell JW (IKC) 2 year old male. Lots to like about this boy. Strong head with typical blunt shape wedge. Brown eye. Lovely expression. Ears slightly larger but set well to check. Ample neck onto a strong shoulder. Front ok, would prefer a shade more upper arm. Again, a little untidy on the move in the rear. Would like to see him move in a larger ring as struggled to get in his stride. Presented in lovely condition and his rich tan markings really stood out.

Open (4,2abs)

1st Lafford’s Lateagain Wild Heart Avec Sariandobes JW ShCEx OSW. Attractive 3 year old brown female. Has a lovely shape on first inspection in the ring. Showing balance throughout. Pretty head with good dimensions. Brown eye. Lovely alert expression. Excellent reach of neck onto a strong shoulder. Enough upper arm. Straight pastern. Tight, clean feet. Slightly longer in body with good tuck up. Well made rear with good turn to stifle and great muscle tone. Coat in excellent condition. Moved cleanly in all directions, showing excellent topline and balance. Presented in excellent condition. Pleased to award her Best of Breed and Working Group 4.

2nd Webb’s SWISS/ROM/BIH/FED BIH CH/ROM/BIH GR CH Shalissa’s Perfect Blend Three year old female. Slightly finer than my winner but a lot of same attributes. Good shape to head. Clean angles overall. Would like a touch more upper arm. Clean coat. Nice paces on the move keeping good topline. Presented again in good coat and presentation throughout.

Leonberger

Puppy (2,0abs)

1st Moulsdale’s Kalizmar The Aviator of Berglowe 8 months. Well built and has a good shape about him. Head, skull is broadening well. A touch long in muzzle which currently unbalances with skull. Enough cheek and padding to muzzle. Ok for stop. Dark mask. Ears set correctly but a touch heavy at this stage. Needs to mature and grow on. Enough neck. Front angulations are ok with enough upper arm. Needs to broaden and drop in chest. Slightly narrow at the moment being a youngster. Good length of back. Powerful rear with strong bone throughout. Coat of nice length and texture. Currently carrying a little too much weight over shoulder and throughout rib which affected his movement. Appeared quite heavy with little lift on the move. Sure this will improve as he grows into himself. BP.

2nd Bodle’s Debbollinby Time Lord by Lionsridge (D) Lovely youngster with the most eager, friendly temperament. Preferred his overall head shape to my winner. Although more immature, had better proportions and balance of muzzle to skull. Good ear set. Clean bite and good pigmentation through. Friendly, brown oval eye. Ears of good shape and covering, and where I would expect at this age. Strong neck. His body proportions although a youngster are excellent. Still needs to mature on in chest but his lay of shoulder and front angulation were correct. Nice length of back. Again, rear angulations were there. Enough bone at this stage. Clean puppy coat. Sadly, the ring size wasn’t his friend today, so hard for him to settle into stride. Would like to see him in a larger ring to see his full potential.

Special Yearling (1,0abs)

1st Moulsdale’s Cookie Bombs Leo form the Old Oaks to Berglowe JW (IMP DUE). Sweet 15 month male. Overall, he has a nice shape to him when viewed from the side. From the front and rear he stands well and four square. Lovely temperament. Head has good shape with balance to muzzle and skull. Would like a bit more width to muzzle but sure that will come, as still a youngster. Front assembly overall was good with nice lay back of shoulder, enough upper arm, and straight leg. Slightly shallow in chest but should come on as he matures. Nice topline and enough spring of rib. To the rear he was well muscled with enough turn of stifle onto strong hock. Well off for bone throughout. Clean paces on the move. He does have a tendency of moving close behind at times. But again, probably not helped by small ring. RBOB

Open (2,0abs)

1st Bodle’s CH Fairy Clocks Bonus Catch the World into Lionsridge (IMP NOR) ShCEx (D) 4 year old and certainly all male. He really is a striking boy that draws you in from all directions. Beautiful strong head with complete balance all round and enough stop. Excellent skull proportions with good width. His dark brown oval eyes draw you in. Such a lovely, gentle expression. Strong neck covered in the most profuse mane. His front assembly is spot on with strong neck and withers. Plenty of upper arm, standing strongly on well boned leg which were parallel from all angles. Body presented in top condition with enough spring of ring with slight tuck up. Rear angles couldn’t be faulted either. Clean sweep of stifle onto strong hock. Feet arched and well covered. Excellent bone throughout. On the move his paces were clean in all directions with a good extension on the move. (BOB). Opening up the ring in the group. I was able to watch him extend out on the move even more. Couldn’t deny him the top honours on the day. Beautiful example of the breed. BOB, WG1.

AVSNSC

Puppy (2,0abs)

1st Franklin & Hucker’s Bevanray Carlos. (Rottweiler)10 month old male. What a super pup he is. Growing on beautifully. Head is quite pleasing at this young age and so much more to come. Dark brown eye of correct shape giving a very alert expression to his handler. Nice width to skull. Muzzle of correct length with enough padding. Strong neck and withers. Still growing out and down on chest but good space between front legs. Has a good body length. Looks a little tall on the leg at the moment as still needs to mature on and fill into himself. But strong leg and tight feet. Well toned in rear, standing on strong hock and enough turn of stifle. On the move he was just fluid and clean in all directions. Presented in tip top condition. I was pleased to award him BP and the working puppy group. Well handled. BAVNSCP, PWG1

2nd Pinky & Mullhall’s Darkarmar Von Pia (B) Rottweiler 6 months. What a stunning youngster this little girl is. Her first show I believe but it didn’t phase her. Still very raw but so well put together and balanced even at this young age. Pleasing head with enough width to skull at this stage. Clean scissor bite. Dark oval eye. Lovely ear shape and set. All contributing to a beautiful expression. Plenty of neck onto a good lay of shoulder. Straight and parallel at the front. Just needs more strength in pastern as she grows. Excellent length of back with enough spring to rib. Slight tuck up. Clean lines in rear and enough bone throughout. She has exact clean paces going round the ring. A touch close at the rear but still growing on leg so to be expected. Again, a very promising puppy to watch for the future.

Special Yearling (3,1abs)

Two lovely youngers in this class. My winner was just better settled in the ring on the day.

1st Manix and English’ Walkdershelf Bjorn to Be King. (Bernese) 16 month male. Lots to like including his wonderful happy character. Nicely built and of good shape. Pleasing head. Straight muzzle with enough padding. Defined stop. Brown almond eye. Ear of nice shape set on high. Medium neck. Front assembly strong and straight with slightly flexing pastern. Chest to just below elbow. Shot back, well filled and firm loin. Muscled rear with a good turn of stifle onto strong hock. Round compact feet. Tail with excellent furnishings reaching to the hock. Lovely soft coat of ample length. Moved freely round the ring, extending well at front and clean follow through by rear. BOB

2nd Greens and English’ Devael Mi Amigo at Waldershelf (IMP ESP) Bernese. 12 months. A lot of the same comments apply as to my winner. Head just needs to broaden out a bit more. Nicely made and compact with clean angulation throughout. Was little more unsettled on the move so rear movement wasn’t as clean as my winner. Just needs more time and a larger ring to settle. Another who had a fabulous temperament and beautifully turned out on the day. RBOB.
