Irish Water Spaniels (7 entered 2 absent)

Puppy 1 entry -1st  Mrs F Mr P Proudlove, Cuboglach Toadflax Brocade. Happy puppy but sadly did not show well on the day paced in movement, on giving him a chance to settle & be handled correctly I had glimpses of him moving well, he then carried his head and tail correctly but sadly tended to pull away from his handler, needs time to mature and settle in the ring, slightly leggy & rangy time may see him fill into his frame and a drop in chest to complete the outline. Head not as refined as I would like, correct length of neck, good bone, a little steep in upper arm, Coat good in colour and crisp in texture. BP

Graduate 2 Entries - 1st Prof Stoddart, Cambridgcurl Aileen Fox. Feminine bitch, pretty head with alert expression, eye still to darken, correct muzzle a good overall impression of fineness, Strong neck set into shoulders well, needs more body & rib still to spring, good bone & feet, lovely dark, natural coat.  Moved well with drive and confidence, fit for purpose, one to watch for the future. RBOB

2nd Mrs J & Mr BK Williamson, Finchsmill Secret Surprise. Sweet bitch not the head or style of 1, light in bone but full of muscle, moved with drive away from me but not so clean in front movement, light in frame and build, good top-line, coat soft still to develop.

Open 2 entries 1 absent - 1st Ms L Latheron, Fynder Reacher. Fine looking, upstanding dog in proportion, good strong head and expression would prefer slightly less round eye. Excellent coat, natural and oily, best coat of the day by far. Great bone and feet, a little weak & close behind. He did not show well today a little reserved in character & lacked the drive I would have liked to have seen, he sat back on his haunches in standing today causing him to lose his top-line.

Veteran 2 entries 1 absent - Ist Blades, McNaught & Andrew’s Eldarrah Dream of Spring. This bitch stood out as soon as she entered the ring, she has presence, quality a good example of true breed type. Lovely outline, free standing with no adjustment required from the handler, this bitch shows herself, beautiful head finer in muzzle than I prefer, very kind expression and almond shaped brown eye. Excellent neck strongly set into  shoulders complete with pronounced fore -chest, barrel rib, compact in body and strong loin. Good quarters with well angulated stifle and low set hocks. Coat a little soft and pale. Moved with drive and style covering plenty of ground with her happy demeanour. BOB & BV. Went on to win Best in Show & Best Veteran in Show
