NORTHUMBERLAND AND DURHAM COLLIE CLUB

Many thanks to the committee for asking me to judge at their show. It was a friendly show and I really enjoyed my day. I would like to thank all the exhibitors for entering under me and accepting my decisions graciously. Just one plea, please check what your dog is doing at the rear it’s not just about the head.

1 Dodsworth’s LIBANEL EVERLASTING CHARM. 21 mths tri d. Good length to height ratio. Rich tan markings against the jet black coat and white collar. Attentive to handler. Good underjaw, correct bite, rounded muzzle and well placed dark eyes. Masculine expression, ears slightly light and a bit deep in stop. Strong neck and straight front into correct lay back of shoulder. Good depth of chest and level topline. Best mover in the class.

2 Gelder’s LIBANEL EREBUS ETERNAL LOVE. 21 mths tri d. Brother to 1. This young man was very excited and his handler was struggling to keep his attention. Jet black fitted coat and large white collar. Preferred his overall shape to 1 as he has that touch extra length in back. Good underjaw and correct bite. A little round in eye and would prefer tighter ear carriage. Good length of neck and correct shoulder. Would prefer a bit more length to tail and he needs to control it on the move.

3 Penachio’s MALOUINE’S NEVER ENDING STORY (imp NLD). 21 mths s/w d. Another who was a challenge for his handler. Rounded muzzle, correct dentition and nice dark eye. A touch deep in stop. Would prefer tighter ear set. Good bone. Good length to height ratio. Mats weren’t helping his movement.

1 Dix’s BARRENCLOUGH DIAMOND SKIES. 4 yrs s/w d. Shaded sable with nice fitted jacket. Showing well for his handler but a bit unsure on the floor. Correct bite, good underjaw, dark eye and slight stop. Would prefer tighter ear carriage. Strong neck, well sprung ribs and good overall shape. Good bend of stifle and tight feet.

1 Fox’s ALANITA AFRICAN JAZZ. Almost 5 yrs tri d. Flashy tricolour with jet black fitted coat, rich tan markings and white collar. Showing well for his handler. Masculine expression, correct bite, good underjaw, dark eye but with one ear flying. Strong neck in to good lay of shoulder and straight front. Good spring of rib, level topline in to rise over loin. Would prefer more bend of stifle and a longer tail. Best mover in the males. BD/BOSIS.

2 Mellish’s DEMELEWIS TRUTH OR DARE. 5 yrs b/m d. Love this boy’s size and shape but not enjoying it on the floor today. Good underjaw and bite, correct dark eye and neat ears. Strong neck in to correct shoulder. Well sprung ribs, good depth of chest. Good bend of stifle and long tail but needs to tighten up on rear. Movement improved in the challenge. RBD.

1 Quince’s OAKLEY ICE QUEEN FOR KARAFAYE (imp CHE). 11 mths b/m b. Well presented, beautiful blue merle bitch. Still in her full puppy coat but with the correct harsh texture and a glorious long tail. Good head properties. Good bite and underjaw. Well placed correctly tipped ears and obliquely set dark eyes with correct slight stop giving feminine expression. Good length of neck leading in to sloping shoulders and a good length of back into rise over the loin. Good forward reach. Good bend of stifle. Thought she would be my RBB but needs to tighten up on rear movement. However, no denying her BPB/BPIS.

1 Whitaker’s SILUTO BLUEBERRY MIST. 14 mths b/m b. Lovely shaped and well marked bitch in between coats. Showing for handler none stop. Balanced head with correct bite and good underjaw. Correctly placed dark eyes and good ear set giving sweet expression. Arched neck in to good lay of shoulder, firm topline and tight oval feet. Good length to height. Lovely long tail which she was slightly fond of, but it could have been the flooring.

1 Dodsworth’s LIBANEL EVERLASTING DEZIRE. 22 mths b/m b. Feminine bitch of good colour. Wedge shaped head with good underjaw and well placed, dark eyes. Ears slightly heavy and could be a tad closer set to enhance expression. Long arched neck leading in to good shoulders and level topline. Fitted coat showing off good body. Well angulated front and rear. Showed and moved with exuberance. Pushed for RBB.

2 Whitaker’s SILUTO SILVARY BLUE MOON. 14 mths b/m b. Sister to JB winner. Another with good head qualities. Good underjaw and correct bite. Dark well placed eyes and correct stop. Would prefer tighter ears. Good body shape, long neck and good depth of chest. A bit straight in front. Level topline and good tail length. Not as confident on move as 1.

1 Jones & Blackburn’s ERJON EVOLVING BEAUTY. 21 mths s/w b. Well balanced bitch in full coat. Well set dark eyes, clean cheeks and correct bite. Would prefer a touch more underjaw. Good earset. Strong neck leading in to an excellent shoulder and well sprung ribs. Good length to back with rise over loin in to long tail. Well constructed which showed in her sound movement. RBB/RBIS.

1 Mellish’s DEMELEWIS DOUBLE TAKE. 3 yrs tri b. Really liked this elegant tricolour. A real show girl. Lovely head planes. Correct bite with good underjaw. Beautiful dark expressive eyes, hard to get in a tricolour, with correct stop and neatly tipped ears giving sweet expression. Fitted jacket showing off her long neck leading in to well set shoulders and good length of back. Neat feet and well let down hocks. Good forward reach and strong rear drive. Very sound bitch who scores in effortless, graceful movement. She just floated round the ring. BB/BIS.

1 Quince’s THISTLEWING CELTIC SOUL FOR KARAFAYE. 3.5 yrs s/w b. Nice size and shape to this shaded sable who was in full, but fitted coat. Good underjaw and clean dentition. Neat ears, eye fuller than I prefer which spoiled her expression. Well arched neck in to good shoulder and level topline. Well sprung ribs, neat feet, well let down hocks and good length to tail. Good overall confirmation giving sound movement, just spoiled by tail carriage.

1 Brand and Reid’s RONANSPREY RUMOUR HAS IT ShCM. 10.5 yrs b/m b. This girl is not showing her age and was really on her toes putting her handler through her paces. Balanced head with good underjaw and dark eye. Well placed ears and constantly alert. Good length to neck and well placed shoulders. Feminine outline with good length to height ratio and fitted coat. Strong thighs and good turn of stifle. Well constructed. BVB/BVIS.

2 Mellish’s CORYDON VICTORIANA FOR DEMELEWIS. Almost 10 yrs tri b. Bigger girl but with super overall shape. Good underjaw, but teeth not at their best. Nice dark eye, small, well used ears but expression not at feminine as 1. Super long neck and back, deep rib cage and muscular hindquarters giving powerful movement.

3 Whitaker’s ANIESH MISTY BLUE MOON OF SILUTO. 10 yrs b/m b. Slightly deeper in head than I prefer. Good underjaw and the whitest of teeth. Correctly placed dark eye. Ears need to be tighter which spoils her expression, but she was giving it her all for her handler. Enough neck in to well placed shoulder. Overall shape was a little square. Sound mover.
