Toy Dog Society Of Wales

Breed: King Charles Spaniel

KCS 1st December 2024 Toy Dog Society of Wales

Thank you to Toy Dog Society of Wales for the invitation to judge and to the King Charles Spaniel Association for the sponsored entry. What a lovely show and central venue for toy dog enthusiasts of the south west! I really enjoyed getting my hands on some lovely examples of this dear breed and thank the exhibitors for their support . Whilst I appreciate this is a ‘head breed’ I tried my best to judge the whole dog. Thank you also to Trevor and Rodney my lovely stewards.

Class 7 puppy

1st Austins Baldragon French Kisses – Although he stood alone ,I was impressed with the performance this 11 month old tri male puppy gave. He has good head qualities, domed skull , wide set dark eyes and well developed nostrils with good pigment . He was turned out well and he moved around the ring showing off his good front action, a level topline and great drive from the rear too. He was compact ,cobby with good bone. I will watch his career with interest. BP

Class 8 Junior

1st Jackson’s Amantra Somerset Gold – Quality ruby male with good dome to the skull from all angles, dark eyes and well developed nostrils, I observed his delightful reserved temperament, he moved well and had a good front. He has a lovely silky coat that was well turned out and quality bone. I would of liked him to have a bit more weight on him.

2nd Jackson & Champion’s Amantra King’s Oak a tri male with a wide blaze, lovely wide set dark eyes, a happy showman albeit not the front or width of the winner.

Class 9 Graduate - A really close up competition between these two lovely dogs

1st Austin’s Tess Des Trois Maillets Baldragon (Imp Fra) A very nice outline on this beautiful compact Blenheim. Well domed skull, lovely dark wide set eyes and well feathered low set ears. Great ribs and very good front action. A lovely silky well broken coat to finish the picture. RBOB

2nd Jackson’s Amantra Queens Gambit - Well domed skull and very nice angles fore and aft on this exhibit, good nostrils and pigment. Good ribs although a little erratic on the move today

Class 10 Post Graduate

1st Jackson’s Amantra Perla -A super pretty Blenheim with memorising head qualities: domed skull with good rise, lovely dark well-spaced eyes and low ear set , another I could of taken home with me . She has a lovely feminine outline and a crested neck and well broken silky Blenheim coat.

2nd Austin’s Baldragon Gots Hattitude a well broken tri that was well bodied with good bone. Good head qualities and another from this exhibitors that shows themselves off to advantage.

Class 11 Open- A really nice class

1st Austin’s Baldragon Blinkin Hell – Well domed skull, well-spaced dark eyes, good angle fore and aft with great bone and compact with really good ribs and depth to chest . Moved well with excellent front action showing off his qualities to advantage. BOB

2nd Jackson’s Amantra Summer Regina A quality head on this lovely tri girl who is full of look at me mischief. On the table she is good to go over , she has good angles and ribs and great width to her upper thighs. I could of scooped her up and took her home and at first I thought she was easily my class winner but just wouldn’t show the best of herself today, which was very disappointing.
