Coventry & District Gundog Society

COVENTRY AND DISTRICT GUNDOG SOCIETY 01 DEC 24 SPANIEL (SUSSEX) A superb entry in terms of numbers, a real treat to get your hands on so many of this delightful breed, some real quality to be found too, however I did find this entry challenging, with mixed type and various leg lengths. P 2(0) Parkes’ Cassiford Northern Star. BP. Promising youngster, not my immediate winner but put on a good show, balanced to the fore and aft, good coat of correct color and texture emerging, will settle in due course with a little more practice and time. Wyton’s Willowswalk Miss Sunshine over Belbroughton. Caught my eye at the start, lovely headpiece with that typical wide skull and just enough frowning brow, good feet and moved well. J 3(1) Clarke’s Florry’s Boy Big Phil. A promising youngster full of personality and keen to engage, showed in superb condition, lovely eye and correct ear set, moved well with purpose and covered the ground, good coat of correct colour. Clark’s Skye’s The Limit. Longer than 1 not helped today by a lack of coat moved well and was sound coming and going, liked her head too, thought her quite typical, would like to see her in full coat in due course. PG 4(1) Allen-Line’s Deckham Amber Sunrise. A mature chap a little moderate in the rear but has good angulation to the fore, good head with much to like and great appeal, another who appeared to be between coats today but honest and good to handle. Clarke’s Meggamooch Whisperer. In super coat and condition, would prefer a more classic leg to body ratio, lovely feet and good bone, colour and coat texture, moved well a lovely head. Clark’s Skye’s The Limit. O 5(1) Short/Bull’s Bakerscroft Beckley Belle. BOB. Pushed all the way to head this class in the end won on move and correct tail carriage, thought she was typy, scores in body and rib, and of good size and was eager and alert. Bradbury/Preston’s Sh Ch. Harasteorra Aphrodite. RBOB. A classic bitch free from exaggeration, would prefer a more strength in pasterns no sign of waistlines but her topline was not as firm as others which let her down today, very well presented and showed beautifully, pushed hard. Bradbury/Preston’s Harasteorra Big Bear JW. SPANIEL (CLUMBER) A fabulous entry both in quality and quantity, with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere ringside, thank you to the exhibits for making it such an enjoyable experience. P 5(1) Benge’s Wahnahnish St Gilles (imp NLD). BP. A youngster full of promise, he struck me as a very honest with nothing to hide, full of type and soundness in abundance, headed the class with his happy but laid-back personality, his body is long well-muscled and with a firm loin for one so young, ribs are well spring and has lovely tight round feet, a pleasure to assess. Wareham’s Suelynda Dream On. Another one with promise and there is more to come here I am sure, adores his rear quarters which were well bent and muscular, would like more upper arm to match the angles at the rear, well present and a good coat emerging. Please to see her enjoying her day. Crittenden’s Malbecmogs Tiger Eyes. J 1(0) Wareham’s Tweedsmuir Moonflower. A lovely bitch who was handled to full advantage and mot empathetically, she has an effortless stride and coped well on the challenging floor. Her outline is typical and in silhouette there is no mistaking her breed., fabulous coat which is abundant and silky. She could go all day of that I am convinced. PG 2(1) Boden’s Suelynda Boom Bang A Bang. It struck that his might just be starting to get it all together, really appreciated this length of leg, lovely clean head with correct eye and ear shape, well down hocks and he was in super condition, he held his topline and transferred that typical outline from the stack to the move, I am sure there is more to come from this young chap. O 5(1) A fabulous class – the highlight of my day. Whitehouse’s Sh Ch. Maursett Mallachie at Molvonia. BOB. It was a pleasure to judge this chap, clearly on fabulous form, fully mature and thoroughly enjoying his job. He is balanced and stands so well and moves just the same with a merry attitude and is full of confidence. Strong in head, so there is no mistaking his sex, neck long enough, super rib and exhibited in the best of order, a lovely rapport with his handler too. Boden’s Sh Ch. Suelynda Kreme Della Kreme. RBOB. I am sure that for some the head on this bitch is a little plain, but for me, I could look at her all day, she’s clean in eye and has the most melting expression, her body handles beautifully, high enough on leg and long enough in body, there is nothing overdone, she was shown in immaculate condition. Today she just gave away on the move where she wasn’t as confident and purposeful as the dog. Whitehouse’s Sh Ch. Maursett Muttley at Molvonia. JENNIFER MILLARD
