What a privilege it was to judge at this prestigious open show at the start of the new showing season with, what I gather, was a bumper entry, the hardworking diligent committee who were on their feet all day worked nonstop to ensure a timely pre 5pm finish. It was an honour to judge amongst established names and new faces, all who received a warm welcome, I wish the Society well for the future, our wonderful hobby, which provides weekend respite for us all and important socialization and training opportunities for our dogs is dependent on these shows and its lovely to see them go from strength to strength under the stewardship of an innovative, passionate and enthusiastic committee.
DALMATIAN

1. Healey/Wheaton/Gardinor’s Hebemor Careless Whisper from Dakata. 8 month old bitch, lovely size, excellent in shape and outline, oh so sound and collected on the move, held her top-line, nice tight feet and excellent neck into well made shoulders, her head appealed and was complimented with a kind eye, BP.
2. Claesen’s Dalstorm Just Jiving. Upstanding male in superb condition with excellent muscle, there was much to like although I just preferred the balance of 1, particularly in the fore, his spots are profuse and well-formed and he showed very well, on the move he was active and covered the ground well.

1. Barnett’s Salvadorada Happy Go Lucky. I preferred the body on this one, it had the depth and breadth others lacked complemented with good angles and a bubbly personality, which, whilst a little too exuberant at times, when it all came together she looked quite the picture, she had elegance and style and was very sound, shown in very good condition.
2. Healey/Wheaton/Gardinor’s Hebemor Careless Whisper from Dakata. Repeat.
3. Pace’s Sadiedel’s Arab Girl.
PG 4(1)
1. Barnett’s Salvadorada Happy Go Lucky. Repeat.
2. French’s Tamilanda Instant Sass. Much to like, more moderate than one but also good in body albeit sadly a little disguised by her weight today which caused distraction, particularly on the move, lovely tight feet, excellent spots, on the move she excelled but tail carriage was a little high for my taste.
3. Pace’s Sadiedel’s Arab Girl.
O 4(0)
1. Healey/Wheaton’s Hebemor Ruby Tiger from Acinonyx JW. Balanced bitch in excellent condition, well off for spots, she had depth and a good amount of bone, pleasing head and expression, did just enough to top the class but would prefer a little more upper arm, won the class on movement and was by some margin the soundness and cleanest coming and going, BOB.
2. Tysterman’s Carodal Jacobs Ladder. My winner on the stack and was a joy to watch her, ever wagging tail as she stood, tended to relax a little too much which ruined her top-line, loved her body and liked her proportions, more moderate than some, scores in feet and neck, lovely shoulders, super personality, RBOB.
3. Collier’s Kallierbelle Bluebelle.
IRISH TERRIER
O 1(0)
1. Ruffles’ Holbam Midsummer Knight at Ruffmar (AI) JW. 21 month old, presented in first class order with lovely dense jacket, alert chap with substance, good temperament and great cheeky attitude, head long and with a flat skull, on the move he was active, reliable and foot perfect, he was clean, and his legs were oh so straight, he was a pleasure to assess, BOB.
JACK RUSSELL TERRIER
P 1(0)
1. Rees’ Bowstones Piccolo. Lovely balanced pup with great dense harsh jacket, super condition, bright eye, excellent bone, wonderful to see her enjoying her day, moved with joy and determination and held her top-line, just needs a touch more confidence to complete an otherwise promising picture, BP.
J 1(0)
1. Witmond’s Tiltser Tuscany Tan. 12 month chap full of chat and opinion, showed like a veteran, great coat and body in super condition, lovely bone and moved very well, liked his eye and head, particularly liked his neck leading into well placed shoulders, he really scores in top-line, full of promise and one to watch RBOB.
PG 2(0)
1. Thornley/Smith’s Dancing In The Dark at Robythorn. Smart terrier of good proportions and on good leg, his jacket is correct, he has a lovely head and expression, his rib is long and loin short, his bone is correct and on the move he is powerful, turned out extremely well.
2. Rees’ Blazingjacks Top Gun with Eremos. A different type to 1 but sound, happy and healthy, shorter on the leg and more substantial in body, head very much appealed, coat was harsh and profuse, went very well despite the challenge surface.
O 2(0)
1. Jones’ Kaszavolgyi-Furge Milton Laserna. Striking 21 month old, shown in perfect condition with excellent jacket, melting expression, bright cheeky eye and super proportions, balanced to the fore and rear in terms of angles, beautiful neck into well made shoulders, real quality, a pleasure to handle really filled your hands. BOB.
2. Thornley/Smith’s Fast Love with Locheil ShCEx. 4 year old exhibit who knows his job and does it well, less coat than 1 but correct nonetheless, moderate in angles but balanced, lovely facial furnishings, shown in excellent condition, on the move he is sound and correct, would just prefer a little more for ultimate showmanship.
ENGLISH SETTER

1. Bennet’s Wansleydale Busy As A Bee at Caprow. 2. Wynne-Evans’ Walshaw Let’s Dance for Droveborough. Another raw baby who appeared younger than 1 so has more to come no doubt, much to like particularly in head and was oh so sound, top-line lacked a little strength but that will come in time, another promising prospect that coped very well on the difficult surface.
3. Whittington’s Culverwell Magic Touch.
PG 1(0)
1. Deering’s Pettifox of Rosetimber. Lovely size and shape to this bitch, beautiful neck into great shoulder, she has depth, presented in the most wonderful coat and condition, on the move she had soundness and style in abundance, she oozed type but had nothing overdone, stood alone but was a worthy winner.
O 5(0)
1. Loakes’ Goldbirch Heart’s Desire JW. Striking bitch of good size in profuse coat, superb top-line, nice head, good neck into well made shoulders, would prefer more angle of upper arm, liked her bone and depth of body, she was shown in excellent order and handled to full advantage, BOB.
2. Deering’s Skylark of Rosetimber. 10 year old bitch who was so sound and had type in abundance, her coat was not the best but I was more than willing to forgive this, I loved her outline and proportions with good angles which many lacked both in the fore and rear, she had personality to add too, RBOB.
3. Beasley’s Wansleydale Mayflower at Latjeata.
RETRIEVER (FLAT COATED)

A difficult class to judge.
1. Bellamy’s Bochilbarley My Girl. A petite bitch of real quality, lovely outline, scores in soundless, liked her for soundness and she was particularly good in the forequarters, just preferred her in head compared to the dog today, she was balanced and very stylish, really liked her for size, will watch her with interest, RBOB.
2. Woodhams’ Kulawand Casanova. Upstanding male with much to like, just at a difficult age, he is extremely striking and shows very well, he was unlucky to meet the bitch as he is full to the brim of promise, scores in depth and proportions and top-line, loved his bone and feet, he showed so well. One another day they could swop places and will no doubt as time progresses.
O 1(0)
1. Bellamy’s Moontorn Better Half Of Me JW. 3 year old mature bitch, not in the best of coats today but showed very well, lovely classic outline, nice size, strong top-line and moves so very well, well off for angles and scores in head and eye, has a wonderful rapport with her handler, BOB.
DEERHOUND
J 1(0)
1. Lucas/Dargonne’s Packway The Enigma. 15 month bitch, lovely jacket with great beard and bone, loved her outline, not as settled on the move but she had the kindest expression, I liked her fore and rear, scores in neck and body, will be interested to see her when she fully matures, BP.
PG 3(0)

2. Harman’s Rumhill Black Knight. Young male of some significant substance and build, very happy, of good proportions and scores in body, would prefer more neck, had a lovely tail and body, for me he was carrying too much weight and condition.
PG 2(0)
1. Newman’s Creamwood Silver Hawthorn. Mature male who stood to best advantage, I liked his balance and body, he had a good coat and neck, he moved very well on this surface and was shown in fit and hard order, his top-line was firm and well held on the move, his outline was classic, BOB.
