Yorkshire Gundog Club Open Show 25th February 2024

York Auction Centre. York

Thankyou to all exhibitors for your lovely entry. Some tricky decisions, but I was pleased with my, very similar in type, final lineup for BOB. I would say, I think the chilly hall had a slightly adverse affect on quite a few of the dogs feeling the cold, when standing or moving. Pointer P(3) 1 Oddie's Sharnphilly Solitaire for Riowood. Almost 8 months old elegant o/w youngster with handsome moulded head developing nicely. Soft expression. Great balance to his outline with his long neck springing from a well laid shoulder leading to good length & return of upperarm, then to beautifully angulated hindquarters. Right amount of spring and depth of rib, not overdone in any way. Firm level topline leading to good set-on of tail. Which he used on the move. 2 Gordon's Hawkfield Happy Times. Just 6 months old o/w baby. Well proportioned head with defined concave muzzle and attractive expression. Balanced outline, short-coupled and curvy. Well sprung ribs with good depth. Good expanse of thigh and well let down hocks. Moved soundly enough for her age, using her tail. 3 Gordon's Hawkfield Chuffed to Nutz. J (6,1)1 &BOB Smith's Raigmore Act of Faith by Fydal. O/w bitch of excellent type. Unexaggerated, shapely, and balanced throughout with stylish lissom appearance. Lovely sculpted head and sweet eye. Reachy neck set into sloping shoulders. Good return of upper arm, enough width and depth of rib, short-coupled, well angulated behind. Neat feet. Moved with drive, keeping a firm outline on the move. 2 Gordon's Hawkfield Witch Doctor. Heavier built liv/w 16 months dog with lovely shape, angulation and proportions in profile. Good length of neck and lay of shoulder, deep and wide in rib, short coupled, strong muscular loin. Drove round the ring. 3 Mason's Heartbury Tormenta over Nosam. G (9,2) 1 Smith's Isla Rose by Fydal. Honest, typy b/w bitch with feminine, clean well-chiselled head. Moderate spring of rib leading well back to short couplings. All angulation in balance. Correct shaped feet. Happy, positive mover. 2 Hawkfield Witch Doctor 3 Mason's Heartbury Tormenta over Nosam. PG (3,1) 1 Booth's Lundgarth Everest JW. Elegant type o/w bitch. Attractive, well proportioned, shapely head. Has reachy neck, moderate lay of shoulder, short in couplings and hind angulation in balance. Good bone and well arched toes. Could tighten up in elbow but moved out with reach and drive. 2 Wilkinson's Stocksfell Shockwave. B/w bitch has lovely head, with good skull and muzzle proportions. Moderate length of neck and sloping shoulder, deep and wide in rib, arched loins, good expanse of second thigh and well let down hocks. Moved covering the ground. O (7,3) 1 & RBOB Blower's Fowington Lar Ti Dar at Deadaway. Very typy, o/w bitch with pretty moulded head, soft expression. Well placed shoulder, reachy neck, deep chest, short in couplings, well angulated. Good bone, arched toes Moved out freely. 2 Pearson's Millpoint Jolly Good Show at Ladyhawke . O/w bitch with attractive head just needs a little more working, but has appealing expression, Moderate angulation in balance, fore and aft. Deep in rib short bodied. Kept a firm outline when moved and handled well. 3 Booth's Sharnphilly Ginger Fizz at Lundgarth.
