Lichfield Canine Society Premier Open Show Held at Stafford County Show Ground

Day 2 - 7th January 2024

Bavarian Mountain Hound

I was very pleased to be asked to judge this lovely natural breed and being supported by the club was an honour. These are sent hounds and very used to working, so this venue had lots of lovely smells an were not the typical stand show exhibits like other breeds.

P 1. Hill’s – Russdales Adonis - very smart young man and loved the scent in the halls at Stafford Show Ground. Appealing head with broad skull darkest of eyes that are oval in shape, and very alert. Ample length of neck into very good shoulders and length of upper arm strong straight bone to oval feet. He had enough depth of chest, although need to fill out and mature to spring his ribs. Lovely short loin and clean underline. His top line was finished with a correctly high set tail of moderate length. On the move at 9 months, he was full of himself. He has great potential to develop into something special BP O1. Borsuk - Boartracker Bill - Appealing masculine head with correct ratios finished with a good size black nose and wide-open nostrils. Framing his head were good sized broad ears which he held closed to his head and reached well forward. He had ample bone and frame with a well-developed chest and oval ribs which extended well back to a short loin. His top line rose slightly from his withers and finished with a high set tail of good length. He was in firm condition throughout. RBOB V1. Clymer & Newton - Cornistor Woody - At almost 8 yrs he was in super condition although carrying a little post-Christmas. Excellent head with super black mask his dark oval shaped eyes were bright and alert. Ample neck length with well laid shoulders, his chest was full and ribs oval, extending well back to his muscular short loin. His coat was dense and weather proof in a deep red deer colour. On the move he was strong and driving with an action that was light and springy. BoB Judge Janet Kay
