Walsall & District Kennel Association Open Show – 10th August 2024

Beagles

Judge: Jane Whitton (Haggatty)

Thank you to the committee of Walsall & District for inviting me to judge. I had an entry of quality hounds, and it was a pleasure to be able to go over them. Thank you to those who entered under me and to my stewards who had everything running very efficiently.

JUNIOR (4,1)

1st – Blunderhall Saucy Sally

Just gone 12mth old tri colour female who is a powerhouse in a small package. Compact, with everything where it should be, she has lovely dark eyes that draw you in with her melting expression. Very balanced all over she has excellent depth of chest and ribcage, good proportionate bone and tight feet. Level topline and correct tail carriage, both of which she keeps on the move, and this is where she comes alive as she is a true show off. One with a big future I feel. BOB and I was pleased to hear she was shortlisted in a very big hound group which is fab for only 12 mths.

2nd – Clarismore Winter Luxury

8mth old broken tricolour female of a bigger package to the first. She presents with a beautifully feminine head and kind, dark eyes. This flows int a very good length of neck and strong level topline which she holds on the move. She has a good forechest and rib coverage with tight feet and excellent shoulder angles. At this stage of development I would say she just needs a bit more angulation behind. Movement was sound all around. Pleased to have her as BP and I am told she went on to take HPG3.

POST GRADUATE (2,1)

1st – Madika High Flyer at Bonwillan

2yr old broken tricolour for whom there is no doubt she is female with her lovely feminine head and expression. Compact in her proportions she has a nice length of neck which flows into a level topline and good depth of chest and ribs. In an ideal world I would like to see a touch more length to her lower leg to completely balance the picture however she has fabulous rear angulation and is supremely well muscled. Uses herself completely when she moves and is a consummate professional in her manner. RBOB.

OPEN (2,1)

1st – Clarismore Twist and Shout

4yr old tan and white female who paints a striking picture when stood. She is of a different mould to others seen today. Nice head with lovely long leathers going into a very nice length of neck and well laid shoulders. She has a very good depth of chest and length of rib with well-muscled and rounded hindquarters. She could do with some more angulation behind however she uses herself well in general on the move. She was just a bit on the downhill side when moving today, being a bit flat in her movement at times which led to her leaning forward and appearing bum high when moving
