Thank you to Lothian Canine Club  for inviting me to Judge, Working & Pastoral Breeds at your Open Show.

 I believe it is a new venue, plenty of room & a good set up. I hope you will be very happy at this lovely place.

Special thanks to my wonderful Steward Jill, who kept the ring flowing.

I’m very grateful to the exhibitors, who gave me a fantastic entry, you should be rightly proud of your dogs. It was lovely to hear applause around the ring; at some shows this is seldom heard.

1st Blackburn & Tait Knecht Mirelle (B) 13 m. Her head is beautifully proportioned, medium stop, dark eye, flat cheeks. Clean throat, strong neck. She has a very nice front with straight front legs. Medium bone, strong pasterns & hocks. She has lovely tight, well arched feet. Well balanced on the move, she has an easy free stride. Best of Breed. Group 3

1st Duff Titanbears Excommunicado JW IR JUN CH (D) 16 m. Masculine head, dark almond shaped eye. Strong level topline, which he held on the move. Well let down hocks, large round feet. A promising youngster, he has a gentle temperament. Best of Breed. Group 2

Great Dane PG 4/3

1st Ferguson Renescent Too Hot to Handle for Chateaudain (B) 14 m Balanced, feminine head, she has a kind gentle eye. Ears of medium size well set on. Not overdone in front & has a decent layback of shoulder. Good depth to chest. Covered the ground well, moved with purpose.

2nd McGill Tayhamblue from this Moment at Karanduke (B) 3 yrs Beautiful head, with a kind expression. Well ribbed back which gives strength to her topline. Forelegs straight with typical flat bone. Free movement, sound coming & going.

3rd Cooper & McGlynn Allours Brave Heart.

Great Dane O 4/3

1st Ferguson Elitedaimos Magik Mago at Chateaudain (D) 3yrs. He has an excellent head piece, strong & masculine, well, set ears, clean eyes, and strength of jaw. Good length, strength and cleanness of neck, which flows into well placed shoulders. He has well muscled loins and good development of first and second thigh. He filled my eye with his elegance, I loved his sound movement which was free & he covered the ground with ease with a spring in his step. Best of Breed, Group 1

2nd Young Roucandane Summer Breeze (B) 4 yrs. A beautiful feminine, elegant head, she has a lovely gentle expression. A strong muscular neck onto well laid shoulders. She has a balanced profile with good angulation front and rear. Strong loins, firm topline and correct tailset. Sound coming & going, moving with a free, easy gait. I was splitting hairs in this class, all 3 were lovely examples.

1st Bennett Jantavia Rebel Rebel (D) 2yrs All masculine head, dark eye, well set ears. He has a keen expression. Well ribbed with short, strong loin. Presented in well muscled, fit condition. Moved freely in profile, but a little untidy coming & going.

1st Wilson Inveralicia Benrinnes (B) 3yrs Feminine head, dark almond shaped eyes with a keen, mischievous expression. Shoulders laid back, front legs straight with sloping pasterns. Topline of medium length, strong and well muscled. Moved with purpose & drive. Best of Breed.

Boxer O 2/1

1st Rutherford Ben Nevis at Braemarbox (D) 7 months. What a happy boy, full of nonsense as a puppy should be. Masculine head, dark eye, mischievous expression. Topline, short with plenty of muscle, short in loin. Good hind angulation. Moved well once settled, but again he is just a youngster. Best of Breed.

1st McArthur Amical Naxxar (D) (almost 12 months) Nicely developed head, of medium size. Ears set high, strong and used well. Keen, but friendly expression. Strong jaw, lips tight. Straight, strong, level topline. Well muscled thighs, well bent stifles strong hocks. Moved soundly, good forward reach & strong drive from behind. Moved effortlessly and covered the ground well.

2nd Wynne Mydisa Hielan Wee Haiver (B) 17 months Very pretty, foxy feminine head. Good depth of chest and well laid shoulders. Good length of loin, correct tail set giving a lovely sickle curl to her well covered tail. Moved soundly, but not as confidently as 1.

1st McArthur Blizzardsun’s Chase for Mersothis JW (D) 5yrs Masculine head with intelligent expression. He’s nicely angulated all through, with a sound top line which is well muscled. Good tail set & croup. Moved with a free & easy action, covering the ground easily. Best of Breed.

1st Durrant Prideofelsa Double Whisky (B) 3yrs Beautiful, feminine head, kind, gentle expression. An elegant outline in profile, balanced throughout. Chest deep and broad. Back was firm, well muscled, and straight with broad loin. Moderately sloping croup to well set tail. Her movement was excellent, extending very well in front with good drive from the rear. Side gait was superb. Best of Breed.

2nd MacDougal Prideofelsa Bruichladdich (B) 5yrs Another pretty, very feminine head. Neck well arched leading onto a balanced front. Stands straight in front, mature in body with strong top line onto a well moulded croup. Moved soundly in all directions.

1st Dunn Mullacaboo Abitibi Dream Great Swiss Mountain Dog (B) 15 months Strong, but feminine head, she has a kind expression. Legs are well boned and straight with a nice angle to pastern. Rib cage is good, with a nice width to chest. Firm topline & good tailset. Moved soundly, reaching out well & good drive from behind. Best AVNSC. Group 4

2nd Outram Noralu Bite the Bullet St. Bernard (D) 3yrs Large, well developed head, defined stop. Large nose with well developed nostrils. Strong bone, straight legs with good length. Strong hocks, moderate turn of stifle. Coat of correct texture. Moved well, sound in all directions.

1st Mandelson Prideofelsa Poinsetta in Honrukai Leonberger (B) 8 months. What a pretty baby, very feminine. Head of good proportions, kind gentle expression. Confident and well grown. Back is firm and straight with broad loins, strong and well muscled. Moderately sloping croup with correct tail set. Very much a baby, but she moved confidently for her young handler.

2nd Wilunat McGlashan & Fleming Springhaze Young Spirit Great Swiss Mountain Dog (B) 6 months Pretty, feminine head, gentle expression. Back strong and level, well muscled loins. Croup long, broad and gently sloping. Moderate bend of stifle. Hocks broad & strong. Moved soundly.

1st KEMPTON Borderbrook Lucky in Love (B) 11 months. Beautiful feminine head, balanced. Well defined stop, she has an intelligent & keen expression. In lovely condition, well presented. She has good shoulder placement, ribs well sprung, correct length of back. Ample bone, onto lovely feet. Moved with purpose & drive around the ring.

2nd WALKER Ravenskirk Pretty in Pink (B) 3yrs. Another lovely feminine head, keen expression. Good outline, nice size, level topline which was held on the move. Moved soundly coming & going, effortlessly in profile.

1ST KEMPTON Gorgeous Gia Borders Kingdom via Borderbrook JW (Imp MNE) (B) Pretty girl, nicely balanced head & keen expression. Neck of good length, strong and muscular, leading onto well placed shoulders. Level topline, which was held on the move, her movement was effortless & caught my eye. She has excellent hind angulation short, strong hocks. Best of Breed Group 3

2nd HEGGIE Locheil a Good Heart IR JUN CH CJW23 (D) 2yrs Gorgeous masculine head, a keen & alert expression. Lovely temperament, eager to please. Well laid shoulder, good depth of brisket well sprung ribs. Firm level topline, moulded croup, muscular hindquarters. He has economical smooth movement, with good reach and minimal lift, just unfortunate to meet 1 today who could not be ignored.

1ST BURDEN Sunlions Imparatorice (B) 2yrs Beautiful head, kind gentle expression. Triangular ears, medium in size. Neck of good length and width, muscular and slightly arched, leading into well laid back shoulders. Her movement was relaxed & covered the ground well. Best of Breed

1ST BABIAK Upside Down De Remember Our Love at Eaglefalls (IMP FRA) (D) 12 months A lovely headpiece, all masculine with a typical flat skull, rounded foreface, correct stop, strong underjaw. Ears well set pleasing expression. He has a long arched neck, good depth and spring of rib. Well laid shoulder placement, moderate hind angulation. Sound on the move, showing decent reach & drive.

2nd BARR Roughrigg Ragnfrid (B) 21 months A beautiful head, typical wedge shape & balanced. Sweet, kind expression. She has a good front, with excellent ribbing and good rear angles. She moved well in the challenge, but wasn’t as confident as 1 on the move, it may have been the texture of the floor. A sweet girl.

1ST MACDONALD Brilyn Look at Me (B) 2yrs Another beautiful feminine head & sweet expression, ears well set & used to her advantage. She has a lovely front and correct topline, good rear angulation and moved as her construction would suggest. Lovely feet, moderate bone, strong hocks.

2nd CRAWFORD Stregato Foolish Guy (D) 2yrs Masculine head, slightly longer in profile, gentle expression. Firm topline, ribs well sprung. Well bent stifle, hocks well let down. In between coats, which distracted from the overall presentation. A little untidy on the move, but he was enjoying his day out, as he was enthusiastic & happy which is not a bad thing.

1ST JOPSON Lillyway Lattimer at Nithview (D) 7yrs Well proportioned masculine head, with super ear set, he used his ears well, he has a kind expression. Well angulated front and rear & has a strong topline, which was held on the move. Presented in beautiful condition. He moved with the required smooth gait, with good reach and drive in all directions. Covering the ground well. Best of Breed

1ST SIMPSON Lamintone For The Drive at Applecreek (D) 2yrs Lovely head with strength to skull, moderate stop. Muscular neck of medium length. Well developed chest. Firm topline which he held on the move. Strong, short loins. Balanced fore & aft which showed in his movement, which was easy & fluent.

2nd HEGGIE Talard It Wasn’t Me (B) 7 months. What a pretty baby, lovely head of good proportions. Good eye shape with keen expression. Medium neck onto well placed shoulders. Excellent angles front and back. Presented in lovely condition. I will watch her progression with interest.

1ST HEGGIE Winstead a Brave New World IR JUN CH (IMP RUM) (D) 2yrs No denying such a masculine head, correct stop with strength to muzzle and skull. Correct almond eye shape. Lovely ear set, which he used to full advantage. Medium reach of neck, with some arch. Good lay of shoulder & return of upper arm. Strong, but not too heavy bone, on tight oval feet. Super topline, which he holds on the move. His movement was sound coming & going, he had a free easy flow. Best of Breed

2nd LOW Jopium Dressed in Red (B) 9 months Pretty feminine head, a happy girl with a kind expression. Medium neck, well muscled. Moderate angles front and back, level topine. Her movement on the day was a bit erratic; some Ringcraft training would be to her advantage.

1ST BAINES Santaviga Endo Cardova (D) 18 months Scored well in head, masculine, wedge shaped with broad flat skull. Slanted almond shaped eyes, he has an alert expression. Strong jaws, black lips, giving typical smiley expression. Good pigmentation and dentition. He is well balanced & correctly angulated. Very well balanced, he moved well with both drive and reach.

2nd SCOTT-MAY Croftdouglas Dileas Anam (B) 7 months A beautiful baby, she has a balanced head. Ears set well apart, used to great advantage giving her an appealing expression. Front legs straight onto longish, flat well covered feet. Back of medium length, topped with a beautiful well carried tail. Moved elegantly with good reach & drive.

1ST MILNE Lumistar Love Me For Life (B) 4yrs Lovely head, well set ears & kind expressive eyes. Presented in beautiful coat, of pleasing length & texture. A quality exhibit both in conformation & appearance with ideal proportions & balance of outline. She is elegant whichever way you look at her, free moving with a powerful action & having positive drive behind. Best of Breed

2nd MILNE Lumistar This Is How We Do It (D) 3yrs Masculine head, alert expression. Ears well set & well used. Sound in front and forequarters, stands on good feet; strong neck, firm top line. Moved soundly with purpose & confidence.

1st JAWORSKA Shellamoyed Mr Moonlight ((D) 3yrs Handsome head, gentle expressive eyes. In beautiful coat of correct texture. Well arched muscular neck onto well laid back shoulders. Level topline, balanced angles all round. Moved with drive, covering the ground effortlessly.

2nd SHAW Bluequarry The One And Only (B) 3yrs Pretty head, sweet expression. Well set ears, which she used well to give a pleasing expression. Balanced all through, level topline which she held on the move.

1ST MELVIN & JOPSON Katiedale The Piper (D) 2yrs He has a correct length of head that compliments his well balanced body, expressive dark eyes & correctly set ears that completed the soft expression. He has well laid shoulders & good spring of ribs, correct length of back. Shown in beautiful condition, coat of good length & of correct texture. He is balanced from the tip of his nose, to the tip of his tail. He provides a lovely profile to the eye. His movement is confident, with good drive from behind. Best of Breed Group 2

2nd SHAW Bramblecroft Reeba (B) 6yrs Pretty head with a kind eye and well-rounded foreface. Elegant outline with medium well arched neck and good length of level back. Short hocks, good bone and neat feet. Moved soundly with reach and drive.

1st MANSON Calwinii’s Aqua Bloom (B) 16 months Beautiful feminine head, with good ear set. She has a good front, good depth to chest. She stands on correct bone, with lovely oval shaped feet. She is nicely angulated all through with strong top-line. Moved freely with purpose.

2nd FRANCHI Saniaquinto That’s Amore (D) 13 months Attractive masculine head & gentle expression. He has an attractive profile shape with pleasing conformation. Firm well angulated, hindquarters with good width and parallel hocks. Moved with determination & purpose.

1st BROWN Calwinii’s Valentina Rose JW (B) 3yrs Attractive feminine head, foxy in shape with moderate stop. She has a wise expression, which is also kind & alert. I liked her overall proportions and outline. Strong, fairly long neck. An excellent front, with a deep chest & well sprung ribs. She has a well bent stifle with low hocks, she stands on tidy feet. She moves freely, & accurately with a lengthy stride. Best of Breed

1ST MOIR Winaria Wellington JW (D) 2yrs Beautiful, masculine head and expression, dark eye, strong neck leading onto good layback of shoulder. Clean front assembly with good depth of chest. He has good bone, lovely feet. He has a level; strong top-line & correct shape and depth of rib, strong loin. He is balanced throughout. I could watch his effortless movement all day, he moves as smooth as silk. Best of Breed Group 1

 2nd RYAN Dychix Invictus For Razkal SHCEX (D) 4yrs Another Handsome head piece, gentle eye. Good topline and strong forequarters well muscled rear. Lovely depth of chest, correct rib & short loin. Moved soundly coming & going, gaited around with purpose & drive.

1st HANDLEY Bargemon Brigadoon At Barkenbear JW (D) 3yrs Masculine head, nice length of neck leading into well-placed shoulder. Lovely depth of chest and good overall proportions and well-muscled. Nicely presented with good harsh jacket. Correct angulation both fore & aft. His movement in all directions caught my eye in order to win the class.

2nd SAVAGE & MCLEAN Talraz Comic Relief At Canaich JW (D) 7yrs Broad flat square head with nicely proportioned muzzle with moderate stop. Moderate length of neck, which is well muscled, onto good lay of shoulder. He has a level topline & good spring to rib, good tail carriage and well angled rear end. He moved soundly unfortunate to meet 1 today, I’m sure places change on a regular basis as they were both lovely exhibits.

1st RICHARDSON Niedersachens Pride Over Night Sensation (D) 18 months Old English Sheepdog Clearly male head of good proportions. Well constructed youngster with good balanced angulation throughout, stands square in profile and fills your eye. Forelegs straight with ample bone onto small round tight feet. He is quite a Showman and full of character; his movement is very good, with effortless extension & strong rear action. BAVNSC Group 4

2nd GIBSON Droyales Forever Proper at Echosands (D) 8 months German Shepherd Dog A handsome head, oozing character. Ears well set & used to his advantage. Fairly long neck, well muscled even for a youngster. Forearms straight & strong, lovely tight feet. Correct topline, loin broad, strong & well muscled. Well angulated fore & aft. Once fully on the move he moved with soundness & purpose. Best AV Minor Pastoral Puppy

What a lovely class, you should all be very proud of your Veterans as they all did you proud. They are a credit to you all. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to go over them.

1st PRITCHARD, HILL & HALL Ch. Right One For Mezen Yoshi And Us (Imp SVK) (B) 11 yrs young Samoyed Beautiful feminine, elegant head, typical happy expression. Neat well furred ears, constantly in tune with all around her. It is hard to believe this girl is 11 years old, presented in firm fit condition, with a beautiful dense coat of correct texture. Correct amount of bone, firm pasterns & lovely feet. She is a fluent easy mover, powering from the rear on strong well let down hocks. She took my attention as she entered the ring & she didn’t disappoint. So proud to see her win Reserve Best Special Veteran in Show

2nd GIBB Ch.Snikkles Bluebeard At Pirateer JW SHCM SHCEX VW (D) 9 yrs Bearded Collie another fabulous dog, a super handsome head. Well developed front, strong neck onto well placed shoulders,. Good overall body proportions, correct ribbing. Firm, level topline which he held on the move. Movement was so free and easy, covering the ground & belying his advancing age.
