2 day Premier Open Show

Sunday 7th January 2024

Judge – Mrs Jane Eyeington (Meadowdale)

I would like to thank the committee for their kind invitation to judge at this super show. A very well supported 2 day premier show. Most impressed with the organisation and smooth running of the show for the judges and exhibitors. I am sure they will go from strength to strength.

Thank you to the exhibitors for the pleasure of your lovely dogs, a real honour. A slightly larger ring would have been great to be able to show of the movement to advantage with these larger breeds

Deerhounds

Puppy (2,0)

1. Mr & Mrs Peach - Kilbourne Havana

11 month old bitch, with flowing lines, still needing to fill her frame but it is all there. Feminine head, of good length, flat skull, with a gentle rise and well shaped dark eye. Good length of neck, and enough depth for her age. Nice flat boned limbs onto well arched toes. Ribs carried well back. Flattened her topline a fraction on the move. Good length hip to hock, with wide quarters. Good harsh coat - BP

2. Mr & Mrs Peach - Talorpeche Allegro

Really liked this youngster, thought he was very smart, but at only 7 months old still very raw. He has lovely substance throughout, and quality flat bone. He has an appealing head, dark eye and pigmentation giving a soft and gentle expression. Still needing to fill his frame, ribs well back, and strong wide quarters. For his age moved well.

Junior (1,0)

1. Mr & Mrs Peach - Kilbourne Daniyal

Much to like about this 17 month old dog. He has a size, substance and masculinity. Having a lovely head, with a kind expression from his dark eyes. Strong neck flowing into a well held topline, deep in brisket. Well boned limbs. Nicely angulated fore and aft. Needing a bigger ring to get into his stride but still able to show his easy and effortless gait. Well presented and handled - RBOB

Post Graduate (2,1)

1. Mr & Mrs Peach - Kilbourne Devon

Another pleasing youngster, litter sister to Junior winner. Very much a feminine version of her brother. Presents an impressive outline, shapely and feminine. Nicely balanced head, with a flat skull, and nicely taping muzzle and gentle dark eyes. Enough depth for her age, holding the correct topline. Loved her side gait which has light and free strides, today not as tidy in front. Shown in a coat of good texture.

1. Mr & Mrs Wilce-Quinton - Kirjojax Harris

Mature dog who is coming up 4 years of age. Stood he presents a shapely outline showing strength but also elegance. Pleasing masculine head, with a flat skull, with neat ears and a kind dark eye. Good depth to brisket, well boned limbs onto well arched toes. Topline having the arched loin and with wide nicely angulated quarters, in good muscle tone. Presented with a good harsh jacket. Moving true and with an easy gait – BOB

Junior (1,0)

1. Mrs Hamilton - Camabaros La Revoltosa With Harrisclub (Imp Swe)

Lovely, elegant and shapely 17 month old bitch, presenting a pleasing outline when stood. Feminine head, long, and of good proportions, with large mobile ears. Her long clean neck adding to the elegance. Holding a firm and level topline both stood and on the move. Correct amount of depth to the brisket. A little lose in her front action, but showing a good side gait.

Post Graduate (2,0)

1. Mrs Hamilton - Hiedra La Princesa Rosa De Podi With Harrisclub (Imp Svk)

Very much liked this rough coated bitch, 18 months old and coming together nicely. Her body lines are typical, and she has the desired square outline, with unexaggerated symmetry. Well proportioned head, with large ears but she was not using them to advantage today. Good length of neck, firm topline. Straight and parallel forelegs with upright pasterns. Moving out true, but she was lacking the enthusiasm, shame liked her and considered for higher honours.

2. Mrs Nicholls - Sunset Breeze (Imp Esp)

21 month old rough bitch, lean and narrow all through. Unfortunately, providing her handler with a bit of a challenge today, so not showing herself off to advantage. Her outline shows her to be square, with a good firm topline. Would like a little more body condition on her. Coat of good texture. A little erratic on the move

Open (5,2)

1. Miss Woodcock - CH Abbotsoak Any Dream Will Do

Stylish and typey dog, who was full of himself today. 6 years old and looking a picture when stood, to give the desired silhouette. Liked his overall balance, masculine but refined head, well proportioned, with a flat skull, and large mobile ears, his clear amber eyes give an intelligent expression with a hint of mischief. He is narrow all through, with the right amount of depth, holds a firm level topline, with ribs carried well back. On the move, he holds his outline and shows good footfall with the desired slight hover. BOB, shortlisted in a large group and delighted to hear he won the Champion Stakes, congratulations.

2. Mrs Morris - Ch Jazz A Master Plan Baltas Vejas Anharbn (Imp Ltu)

Striking and upstanding 22 month old dog, who is predominantly white and presents an elegant and typey outline. He is of a different style to winner as he has a little more substance all through, but nothing is overdone. Long lean head, which is of equal proportions, clear amber almond shaped eye, and large thin ears. His slightly arched neck flows into a well held topline, right amount of depth to brisket and spring of rib. Moving out well, just not quite showing the hover today in his action - RBOB

3. Miss Woodcock - Abbotsoak Grease Lightnin
