I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge at this friendly and well run show. Also, to my very efficient stewards, thank you. I was delighted with the lovely dogs I had the pleasure of judging, with some very close decisions. Thank you to all the exhibitors for bringing your lovely dogs for my appraisal, a very enjoyable day.

Golden Retrievers

Puppy Dog (5,1)

1. Ms Holmes - Ashbyglen Excalibur

Very smart, loved the overall size, balance and masculinity of this 10 month old mid gold dog. For one so young , he displays such poise to show himself off with confidence. Well proportioned head, with lovely dark eyes and pigmentation. A good length of neck, flowing seamlessly into a firm and well held topline, with a well set on and carried tail. Well developed through the body and stands on well boned limbs with tight feet. On the move retains his outline with a clean and true action. Delighted to award him BD & BPIB, lovely to watch him later go onto win Best In Show Puppy 4

2. Miss Moore - Tenfield Klipsringer With Auryngra

Very much a babe, this 9 month old mid golden dog, has much to like. He is a little more compact in his outline, with lovely substance and bone. A little bum high at present. He is well developed through the body with good depth and forechest. A happy chap on the move just needing to tighten up a little.

2. Middleton-Collins - Berrymeade A Fool In Love Of Jasperleigh JW

Another nice dog, with lots to admire. He presents a very pleasing outline when stood, showing balance and being well proportioned. Masculine head, neck of good length, firm topline, well ribbed and nicely angulated, tending to carry his tail a fraction higher today. Shown in lovely coat and condition.

1. Mr & Mrs 0’Gorman - Berrymeade Billy Summers (AI) JW

Very much liked this dark golden boy, workmanlike with a shapely silhouette. He has a love of life and showed himself off with verve. He has a pleasing head and expression, with a clean flow to his topline. Deep in brisket with a good forechest. Standing on well boned limbs and tight feet. Muscular hindquarters with a nice width to the thighs. A sound mover when he settles - RBD.

Graduate Dog (4,1)

1. Mr Henson - Cinderbank Move It JW

Pleasing outline on this 2 year old mid gold dog. He is so balanced and unexaggerated, with a nice flow from nose to tail. He has a lovely soft and gentle expression. Good depth and ribbing which are carried well back. Holding a firm topline. He has a lovely profile movement, just a little proud of his tail and a fraction lose in front today.

2. Mr & Mrs Mears - Ambersun Paper Plane

2 year old pale gold dog. A fraction longer than winner in outline, but still showing to be nicely balanced. Masculine head, with a lovely soft and gentle expression, from his dark eyes. Well developed through the body, and holding a firm topline both stood and on the move. He has a good width of thigh and nicely angulated hindquarters. Moving steadily

1. Miss Archer - Haydengold Just A Rumour At Sunandair JW

Lovely shape to this 2 year old mid gold dog, very stylish with a balanced outline. Most attractive head piece, showing good proportions with strength to the foreface and a kind dark eye. He has a clean flow to his topline. Chest is well let down with a nice fill in of forechest. Stands on well boned limbs and neat feet. His footfall was accurate, was up there for top honours, but today preferred the front extension on the move in the challenge of the winners. Well presented and handled.

1. Mrs Webb - Fletlanders Billy Flynn At Hectson

Wow, this cream boy looks at picture at 10½ years old and showing himself off. Liked his overall balance and proportions. Pleasing head shape, with a good length to the foreface, and those dark eyes. He has good depth and well sprung ribcage. With nicely boned limbs. Hindquarters show a wide thigh and good bend of stifle. A tidy mover

2. Mr Wallington - Wynrita School Daze

Darker gold 7 year old dog, built on a slightly heavier frame, but presents a lovely outline when stood. Masculine head with a kind expression. Strong neck of good length. Super depth and well developed in forechest. Well boned limbs and tight feet. Holding a firm topline and good tail carriage. A happy mover true both fore and aft, but tending to roll. Shown with heavy well presented coat.

3. Miss Humphrey - Sequotia Anywhere

1. Wheeldon & Hurry - Dewmist Dolce Vita With Catnnels (IMP SWE)

Delightful 8 month old cream bitch. She has a lovely silhouette when stood, to present a picture of balance and femininity. She is just needing time to mature into her frame. Pretty head, with a gentle but alert expression. Good length of neck flowing into a firm well held topline. Good depth and spring of rib for her age. Harmonious in her angles fore and aft. Showing herself off well and at one with her handler. - BPB

2. Mrs Mason - Wheatcroft China Girl At Nosam

Promising cream bitch just 6 month old, with everything in the right place. Well proportioned head, with a good width to the back skull and length to the foreface, dark eyes and pigmentation all giving a lovely expression. Liked her spring of rib, nicely developed for her age, well boned limbs and neat feet. Showing herself to advantage, a little lose in front at present, but keeping her outline.

3. Ms Ryan - Souvenir Full Of Joy

1. Mrs Smithies - Hayengold Echo Thru Time To Alfiro

16 month old, full of beans mid gold bitch. Showing her confident and outgoing nature. When stood she presents a picture of balance with good substance, and nothing is overdone. Her head is feminine with a good dark eye and pigmentation, width to the backskull and strength to the muzzle. Clean neck of good length, lovely depth and development of forechest, ribs are well sprung and carried well back. Holds a firm and level topline both stood and on the move with a good tail carriage. Strong wide quarters which she used to drive around the ring. RBB

2. Ms List - Hayengold Moment In Time

Litter sister to winner, and I thought she would be my winner initially, but today seemed to lack the enthusiasm and not quite as together on the move. She has a lovely outline, so very feminine and balanced. Standing poses a balanced and pleasing silhouette. She has a pretty head and a gentle expression. Flowing from nose to tail, with depth to the brisket and a firm topline.

1. Mr & Mrs O’Gorman - Berrymeade Kinvara JW SGWC

Outgoing 3 year old workmanlike darker gold bitch. She has the desired substance but also athletic fitness. Liked her overall balance, with a good length of leg. Proportionate head with balanced ratios, and a kind dark eye. Good length of neck, firm level topline and good tail set and carriage. Her ribs are well sprung and reaching down to the elbow. Strode out nicely on the move.

2. Mrs Smithies - Haydengold Whisper Secrets With Alfiro

2 year old mid gold bitch, liked her overall size and shape, but today tending to lose her topline a fraction. Lovely head, nicely chiselled, and with a dark eye. Clean neck of good length, brisket is down to the elbow, a little longer in loin. Showing a good turn of stifle and standing on well boned limbs and neat tight feet. Moved out positively.

Post Graduate (3,1)

1. Miss & Mrs Ives - Balsamina Bellini JW

Very smart 3 year old cream bitch, not a big girl, but everything is in the right place. She has an impressive flowing outline and pleasing body proportions. Lovely head, of good proportions and balance, those dark soulful eyes giving a soft and endearing expression. Well developed in front, with a good forechest and the brisket is down to the elbow, the ribcage is carried well back. Harmonious in her angulation fore an aft. She has an effortless gait and strode around the ring with positive footfall. Delighted to award her BB & BOB

2. MR & Mrs O’Gorman - Berrymeade Love Her Madly

Of a different stamp to winner, but with many fine qualities. 4 year old darker gold bitch Loved her demeanour, happy and full of fun. She has a pleasing outline, with a good length of leg, and being short coupled. Balanced head with a dark eye. Liked her depth and forechest, with a good spring to the ribcage. Stands on well boned limbs onto tight cat feet. Shown in lovely muscle tone, as all the dogs from this kennel were. Unfortunately, today she was not holding her topline on the move, striding out well.

1. Mrs Falconer - Soneve Simply Special For Siatham JW

Super nature on this 3 year old cream bitch, so happy and wiggly! When stood has a pleasing outline, so very feminine. Lovely head and expression of good proportions. Clean neck of good length. Liked her forequarters, well developed and with depth. Nicely boned limbs and tight feet. Holding a firm topline both stood and on the move. Corresponding angulation fore and aft with a good width of thigh. A happy mover and at one with her handler, not quite as clean in front today. Beautifully presented and in good coat.

1. Mrs Southorn - Umika De La Riviere Ouareau (IMP FRA)

15 month old O/W bitch, who presents a square and compact outline when stood. Still needing to finish filling her frame, but the shape is there. She has a balanced head and showing the correct parallel planes, eye colour toning nicely. Clean neck of medium length, holding a firm topline, with a good length of leg. Moderate angulation and pasterns slightly sloping. She moved out well, just needing to tighten a little more in front, brisk side gait whilst holding her outline – BOB.

1. Sandifor & Lomas - Hernwood Rocket Man

This 10 month old dog made me smile, such a delightful puppy. On the stack he presents such a clean and pleasing outline, one part flowing seamlessly into the next. Yes, he needs to mature, but what a lovely prospect. Lovely head piece, with a nice amount of depth, dark eyes and low set ears, all giving a gentle expression. Long lean neck flowing into a firmly held topline and well set on tail. Enough depth for his age and stands on well boned limbs. He has a lovely flow to his movement in profile, smooth and quite effortless, a little lose in front at present, with super width behind and parallel. BP & RBOB - Delighted to watch him in the puppy group and go onto win BPIS - congratulations.

Mature and in full bloom, this 3 year old dog, showed himself off with style. When stood presents a picture of substance with masculine elegance, and flowing lines. Masculine head, with good depth and slight rounding to the backskull, clean cheeks and nicely defined flews. His dark eyes giving a gentle expression. Lovely depth and development through the body and holding a firm topline with a good set on of tail. Long from hip to hock, and low set hocks. Moving true with good drive – BOB

Beautifully presented black cocker bitch, presenting a pleasing outline when stood. Feminine head, dark soulful eyes, low set ears all giving a gentle and kind expression. Good length of neck, well bodied, with a firm topline and good tail set. On the move she is true and driving with a good tail action

2. Mrs Mowbray - Sh Ch Gainsmill Lilly Luna Potter At Crumbledor (Sussex)

Lovely Sussex bitch, who shows a typical outline. Loved her happy and outgoing nature. Feminine head, with a gentle curve to the backskull, good stop and typical frowning brow. Strong neck and firm topline. Well developed through the body with well boned limbs. Moving out soundly and presented in a coat with golden tips.
