I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge at this super show, so well run and supported. It was an honour to be invited to judge ‘Best In Show.’ Thank you to the breed judges for putting forward lovely examples of the breeds. To the exhibitors, it was an honour to have the pleasure of judging your quality dogs.

Special Working Dog /Bitch (7)

1. Mr & Mrs Holman - Ch/SA Ch Trevena Masterchef At Namtresa (Imp ZAF)

Super 7 year old black flatcoated retriever dog, lovely happy and outgoing nature. He has good substance but not overdone, with a flowing outline. Typical one piece head with a gentle expression. Strong neck and firm topline, with a deep ribcage and carried well back. Moving true in all directions. Presented in firm condition.

2. Mr & Mrs O’Gorman - Berrymead Kinvara JW SGWC

Very balanced 3 year old golden retriever bitch, who presented a lovely outline when stood. Such a feminine head, with a dark eye and gentle expression. Brisket is well let down and good spring to the ribcage whilst holding a firm topline and well set on tail. Strong wide quarters, showing good musculature. Moving at one with her handler

3. Miss Watts - Oakmarsh Freedom SGWC

Minor Puppy Dog/Bitch (9)

1. Mrs Fox - Westoncruive Ace Of Spades By Blacktoft

Full of beans 6 month old Flatcoated retriever, liked his overall shape and size. Still very raw and needing to come together, but it is all there. Pleasing head and kind eye, good length of neck flowing into a firm well held topline. Standing on nicely boned limbs. Hindquarters have a nice sweep of stifle and width of thigh. A little loose in front at present, but holding his outline in profile.

2. Ms Healey - Marsabit Celtic Harp

Another promising youngster, much to like on this 7 month old Golden retriever bitch. Liked her overall balance, substance and femininity. Pretty feminine head, dark eye and pigmentation, good length and strength to the foreface. She has depth to the brisket and good spring to the ribcage. Well boned limbs onto tight feet. A happy mover, just needing to tighten a little more.

2 Mr & Mrs McLellan - Saranden I’m On Fire

Very shapely and workmanlike yellow Labrador dog, just shy of his first birthday. He presents a sturdy outline, with a lovely clean flow from nose to tail. He has a balanced masculine head, with a keen but kind expression. Strong neck, good fill in of forechest and depth to the brisket. Standing on well boned limbs and tight feet. Good width of thighs which he put to effective use to drive around the ring.

2 Mr & Mrs Wooden - Amilone Smokin Barrel

Pale 9 month old Golden Retriever dog, who has a lovely silhouette on the stack, very balanced and proportionate. He has a soft and gentle expression. Well developed for his age, with a good forechest and ribs well sprung. Liked his nicely angulated hindquarters with a good width of thigh.

1. Miss Tester - Gingafing Best Of You

Pleasing 14 month old NSDTR bitch, who presents a pleasing outline, nice overall size, being compact and balanced. Feminine wedge shaped head, with a keen and alert expression. Enough depth for her age, nice spring to the ribcage and a firm topline. Moving with a jaunty stride and good drive

2. Mr & Mrs Holman - Ronevorg Can I Be Famous For Namtresa

12 month old Flatcoated retriever, who was showing herself off well. Liked her feminine head, being one piece, dark eye and kind expression. Good length of neck, flowing into a well held topline and good tail carriage. Nicely developed through the body. Showed with enthusiasm.

1 Mr & Mrs Longhurst - Hurstmeon Just My Cup Of Tea

Smart 2 year old black Labrador bitch, thought she had lovely body proportions, compact and sturdy but feminine all through. Appealing head, with a good width to the skull and length to the foreface. Strong neck flowing into a firm well held topline and well set on otter tail. Lovely depth, well sprung ribs, and short coupled. Moved out positively and presented in good coat.

2 Mr & Mrs O’Gorman - Berrymeade Firestarter

Nicely balanced darker 2 year old Golden retriever bitch. She is workmanlike, having strength but also elegance. Well proportioned head, dark eye giving a gentle expression. Harmonious in her angulation, well developed through the body. Moving out soundly and at one with her handler

Open Dog/Bitch (12)

1. Lane & Lane-Ridyard - Kulawand Callisto JW

Stylish and quality 21 month old black Flatcoated retriever dog. Eye catching youngster for his clean flowing lines when stood. Appealing head and expression, good length of neck blending seamlessly into a firm well held topline and tail set. Strong quarters with wide thighs, which he put to good use on the move, good width behind and parallel, just needing to tighten a little more in his front action.

2. Miss Rogers - Eusanit Peaky Blinder

6 year old NSDTR, who showed himself off in style, close decision for 1st place. Liked his overall size and shape. Masculine head, with a well shaped eye and high set ears, giving an alert expression. Well developed through the body with a good topline. Moved out well, showing good drive.

3. Miss Watts - Oakmarsh Freedom SGWC

Brace (6)

1. Mr & Mrs Colson - Flatcoats

Well-coordinated pair of black flatcoats, similar in type and showing well together, moving in harmony with the handler.

2. Mrs Smith - NSDTR

Another well matched pair, showing to be of the same type, moving very synchronised with matching footfall.

2 Mrs & Miss Pattison - Pattilands Shining Star

WOW, I could not believe that this yellow Labrador bitch was 12 years old, what a credit to the owner and her breeding. Liked her head, good width to the backskull and pleasing length of foreface, kind dark eye and well placed ears all giving a lovely expression. Strong neck, well developed all through the body with depth and correct ribs. Strong wide quarters, a pleasure to watch on the move.

Mrs Smithies - Haydengold Echo Thru Time To Alfiro

Lovely quality and very self-assured 18 month old Golden Retriever bitch, and today looked an absolute picture when stood. She has lovely flowing and graceful lines, so very feminine with the right amount of substance. Most feminine of heads, nicely balanced with a melting expression. Clean neck of good length, seamlessly flowing into a firm level topline ending with a well set on and carried tail. She has a well developed body, deep in brisket and ribs well sprung. Standing on well boned limbs and with neat cat feet. A powerful mover, who covers the ground whilst flowing around the ring and holding her outline. Delighted to award her BIS.

Mr, Mrs & Miss Colson - Windyhollows Ragged Robin JW

Very smart and stylish 2 year old Flatcoat dog, who has unexaggerated symmetry, giving a shapely silhouette. He has plenty of substance but retains his athleticism. Lovely one piece moulded head, with a dark eye, giving a kind expression and full of character. Clean neck of good length, he has a lovely depth to the brisket and well developed in forechest, and correct spring to the ribcage to give a lovely flow from nose to tail. Strong, wide quarters with hocks well let down. Moved with enthusiasm and pizzazz, in harmony with his handler.

Ms J Holmes - Ashbyglen Excalibur

This Golden Retriever dog took my eye when entering the ring. Just coming up to his 1st birthday, I thought that he was full of quality, having an impressive stature, and was at one with his handler. So very balanced and showing good proportions, with lovely substance and bone, but with a hint of masculine elegance. Flowing from nose to tail both standing and on the move. He showed himself off with confidence and style to take the top spot of ‘Best Puppy In Show.’

Super 11 month old yellow Labrador bitch who presents an eye catching outline when stacked. She stands foursquare with clean and flowing body lines. Lovely head and expression, good length of neck, well developed in forechest and deep in brisket. She held a firm topline finishing with a well set on and carried otter tail. Moved out purposefully and covered the ground well.
