Welsh Springer Spaniels

Thank you all for the opportunity to judge your dogs. I found most exhibits & handlers struggled with movement on the very slippery surface at this venue & my decisions on the day reflected this.

PD (2,2abs). JD (1,1abs). GD (0,0). PGD (1,0) 1st Hankins’ Julita Rainmaker With Woodelrond, mature lad shown in full coat & just under 4 years, masculine head with kind eye, balanced fore & aft, deep throughout, plenty of bone, moved ok.

OD (3,1) 1st Allen & Cochranes’ Eiriandylis By George, super outline on this lad, at 3 years he is now looking the finished picture, loved his head & melting expression, correct bite, good length of neck leading into good front angulation, super depth & balance on this boy & very easy on the eye, correct rise over the loin, moderate bend of stifle with well let down hocks, super round catlike feet, moved with purpose & amination; showing plenty of reach & drive which I feel is so important for our breed, a proper happy showman, no hesitation to award him BOB loved him! 2nd Hankins’ Julita Rainmaker With Woodelrond.

PB (1,0) 1st Cochrane & Allens’ Eiriandylis Confusion, pretty 7½ month old & quite raw at this stage & needs to come up a bit on the legs but everything in the right place, a little hard to assess on the move but this will come with time & experience, BP.

JB (2,0) 1st Janes’ Jacranella Georgia Belle (ai), just shy of 14 months, feminine expression, correct bite, balanced throughout with a lovely spring of rib, well-muscled, stood on good tight feet, an honest bitch who ‘screams welsh’ with the best front assembly of the day, on the move she gave her handler a hard time, however I saw enough to appreciate her qualities. 2nd Wards’ Glenbrows Flame For Tantaraviz, another pretty girl with lovely head proportions & kind dark eyes, longer cast than 1 & not quite the front angulation of my winner, well presented.

GB (3,2) 1st Whitfields’ Glenbrows Thoughts To Amberdella, just out of junior & still has some maturing to do, this young lady is well balanced, good length of neck, adequate angles fore & aft, good topline with correct rise over the loin, well presented but down on her pasterns & didn’t step out in the challenge.

PGB (0,0)

OB (2,1abs) 1st Fergusons’ Julita Raindance At Teaselwood, litter sister to the PGD & many remarks apply, stood on good feet, presented well & shown in full coat, stepped out a lot cleaner in the challenge to clinch BOS.

V D/B (4,1) 1st Caldwell & McDowells’ Bowdonia Only The Brave For Cerysan D, nine-years young, I have judged this lad before & he gets better with age, he has the best of heads with the correct bite, he presents beautiful balance & bone, a sound & happy boy who pushed hard for top honours, just pipped to the post by youth today, he makes me smile & delighted to award him RBOB & BV. 2nd Whitfields’ Glenbrows Heart To Heart B, unlucky to meet 1, another pretty, well-presented girl shown in full bloom, showing good balanced throughout, well-muscled & stood on good feet, moved ok. 3rd Goughs’ Julita Rukester.
