GOLDEN RETRIEVERS

I would like to thank the Committee and Officers for inviting me judge. A gold medal should be awarded to the team for their monumental effect in securing an alternative venue at the 11th hour when the County Show was cancelled.

A huge thank you to all exhibitors who supported me and gave me the privilege of going over their quality animals. All coped well with the intense heat of the sun. Thank you to my steward Carley for keeping things moving smoothly.

Puppy (4 entries, 2 absent)

1. James’s TSARMONT OH SO STARSTRUCK (AI) 9 month old cream girl with nice dark eyes and the softest of expression. Super pigmentation. Good length of neck leading to well laid shoulders. Nice straight front. Level topline which was maintained on move, good bend of stifle and well let down hocks. Moved positively round ring. BPIB. I was delighted to hear she was later awarded Puppy Gp2.

2. Moore’s TENFIELD KLIPSPRINGER WITH AURYNGRA 6 ½ month mid gold male. Lovely head and expression with kind dark eye and good pigmentation. Muscular neck leading to well laid shoulders. Good bone and cat-like feet. Short coupled loin. Bountiful coat. Just needs more time to come together and settle on move.

1. List’s HAYDENGOLD MOMENT IN TIME There’s lots to like about this 14 month quality mid gold girl. She has the most feminine head and softest of expressions. Good pigmentation. Well balanced. Lovely reach of neck into well laid-back shoulders. Level topline through to well set tail. Good front and rear angulations. She flowed around ring earning her 1st place. Unfortunately, in challenge she just lost her spark.

2. Crookes & Jenkinson’s THORNYWAIT ROYAL STORY FOR QUAKERHALL Close up to one. 13-month feminine mid gold bitch with lovely dark pigmentation. Clean neck into well laid-back shoulders. Strong through topline, good length of rib and deep through chest. Nice turn of stifle with well let down hocks.

Short coupled good bend of stifle to well let down hocks. Moved with more confidence in her second class.

1. Mell’s SANSUE LOVE ACTUALLY AT MELOAK This lovely pale cream girl caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring. On hand’s inspection she did not disappoint. She has a pretty head and kind, soft expression. Strong neck through to well laid-back shoulders. Deep through chest. Straight well boned foreleg leading to tight feet. Well sprung rib. Short loin, well bent stifle to well laid down hocks. Moved with reach and drive flowing round the ring earning her BOB. I was thrilled to later hear she had been awarded GP1 and RBIS. Congratulations!

2. Taylor & Tenn’s STRETTONHILL DAFFODIL Mid gold girl who was another one a little sparse on coat today. Feminine head with kind, soft expression. Good through muzzle and correct ear carriage. Good forechest and straight front assembly. Clean neck leading to well laid shoulders. Good spring of rib. Level topline. Moved out strong and true.

Strong clean neck into well laid-back shoulders. Deep through chest, straight front. Balanced front and rear angulations. Nothing exaggerated. Super ring presence. Moves round ring with such ease maintaining her level topline through to the tip of her tail. RBOB.
