Isobel Taylor (Saffrosa)

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at Newport and District Agricultural Society 2024 - a show I have not ventured to before but will definitely be back. Both coats had a good entry, with Long Coats being the highest in the show. Absentees were unfortunately high but quality still present today. Much appreciation to all those who supported me!

To note - was pleased to find a good mouth on ALL exhibits. Not only this, but all well tempered. It makes judging a pleasure!

Chihuahua (Smooth Coat)

Puppy (2,1 abs)

1 - Paulwilchi Polyst Irene

10 m/o black and tan bitch who is starting to come into her own. Pretty head with correct dome to skull, large eyes and well set ears. Nice substance for a puppy, with good fill of chest. Shoulders well layed with straight forelegs, angulated well front to back with nice balance. Level backline and well set tail, if a touch tight in carriage. Moved well when she got going - look forward to seeing how she grows! BPIB

Junior (1,1 abs)

Post Graduate (7,4 abs)

1 - Cazants The Geisha Luvs Dorenty

2 y/o white bitch of lovely type. Textbook head with sauciest of expressions, alert at all times showing off her large ears. Well muscled forequarters set well under the chest, nice spring to rib. Good turn of stifle, hocks well apart and let down. Correct arch to neck into level backline, proportions slightly longer than tall as should be. Sickle tail set well, carried up and over. Excelled on the move with her free action! BOB

2 - Amarantos Theo

Almost 2 y/o blue fawn dog of nice make and shape. Another attractive head, lean to cheek and jaws. Apple domed skull and definite stop, completed with large eyes. Good spring of rib with deep brisket, forelegs set well under him. Hindquarters well balanced with good turn of stifle. Balanced front to back with level backline and well set tail. He was enjoying his day out today, just a shame he would not settle on the move as this was the difference between placings! RBOB

Open (2,2 abs)

Chihuahua (Long Coat)

Puppy (6,3 abs)

1 - Trefnanney Charles Dickens

6 m/o tri colour dog at his first show. Beautiful head and expression, muzzle moderately short with definite stop. Straight forelegs set well under him with dainty feet. Rear is well angulated, with hocks aptly let down and turning neither in nor out. Good length to neck leading into level backline, tail is set high and of sickle shape. He was ready for it on the move and covered ground with ease. Raw puppy who I expect to mature well! BPIB

2 - Pappersley Leonora

Almost 8 m/o fawn bitch who is ever so feminine. Textbook head with domed skull and well set ears, completed with dark pigment and large eyes. Shoulders are well layed, forelegs straight. Good substance for a puppy with deep brisket. Another balanced front to back with apt turn of stifle in the rear. Neck a touch short, level back and well set sickle tail. Happy to see this girl gain confidence on the table, but unfortunately could not examine the teeth which lost her the class today.

Junior (3,2 abs)

1 - Trefnanney Agatha Christie

6 m/o tricolour bitch, litter sister to previous class winner. Another correct head of ideal proportions with saucy expression. Maturing nicely with good chest, forelegs sitting well under if a touch turned out at times. Nice turn of stifle in the rear with well let down hocks. Neck is well arched and backline level, tail set correctly and of good shape. Very similar to her siblings but a little less confident - I am sure this will come with time!

Post Graduate (13,9 abs)

1 - Amarantos Meet Joe Black

Almost 2 y/o tricolour dog, a lot to like about this boy. Pleasing, well rounded head with definite stop and moderately short muzzle - not a touch of exaggeration here. Deep brisket, well laid shoulders with straight forelegs. Good turn of stifle, well let down hocks complete the rear. Back is level and sickle tail finished with a nice plume. Moved out well with reach and drive. Wonderfully furnished with a silky coat, presented in marvellous condition - the icing on top! BOB

2 - Dorenty’s Chuckleberry Fin

2 y/o fawn and white dog of nice type. Lovely head with apple domed skull, muzzle is moderately short and slightly pointed. Dark pigment. Excellent reach to neck and good lay of shoulder. Forelegs are straight but would prefer a touch more forechest. Apt turn of stifle with hocks well let down. Backline is level, tail set high and of correct sickle shape. Well furnished with soft coat, moved out well.

Open (9,4 abs)

1 - Ellochi Crazy Nights for Pappersley JW

7 y/o sable and white dog - an impressive veteran! Breed typical head with correct dome to skull and definite stop, ears large and flared. Well sprung ribs and deep brisket, forelegs straight and set well under him. Excellent turn of stifle with hocks well let down. Level back, correct tail set and carriage with lovely plume. He really moved out with ease, showing excellent reach and drive! Missing a few teeth but to be expected with age. RBOB

2 - CH Dorenty’s Heidi Hi

4 y/o fawn bitch who I have had the pleasure of judging before. Feminine head with saucy expression, most attentive in the ring with large flared ears. Forelegs are straight, good depth to brisket and ribs well sprung. Well angulated rear with well let down hocks. Neck is of good length, backline level and tail set well - always carried up and over. Excellent showmanship throughout, including on the move where she powered around the ring. Just preferred overall condition of 1.
