Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at the show, a super entry with some quality dogs, super hospitality and lovely atmosphere. Thank you to my stewards who kept everything moving and worked tirelessly in the sunshine.

Retriever (Curly Coated)

Post Graduate (4/2) 1st EDWORTHY’S BRIGHTMEADOW MAN OF STEEL (6m D) Two good youngsters here, won this class on just being more together than nice wedge shaped head. Correct proportions in head, ears set correctly. Neck slightly arched of moderate length. Chest Deep. Nice level topline held well on the move. Needs to muscle up and get strength in the rear. Moved well in profile a little untidy coming to. Best Puppy

2nd HARRIS’ BRIGHTMEADOW WISH COME TRUE AT DREAMCURL (6m B) A lot of similar virtues certainly clear these were litter siblings. Slightly shorter in body than 1. Correct head proportions. Neck medium and arched. Topline level and held well. A little bit raw at the moment.

Open (4/1) 1st EDWORTHY’S MAYCOURT HEARTBREAKER (3yrs D) Won this class on accuracy of movement, really well muscled up and super drive from the rear. Correct head shape, neck strong and slightly arched. Topline level. Good tail carriage. Super coat, crisp curls. My notes say best mover! Best of Breed

2nd DAVIES & BRADSTOCK’S MAYCOURT KASHMIR CON REDANIMO (3yrs D) Super head, correct proportions, and good neck. Nice Deep chest and well sprung ribs. Slight tuck up. Not as strong in rear as one. Would like a cleaner movement coming to. Nice Topline and correct coat. RBOB

Special Yearling (2/0) 1st RUSSELL’S FRAULYNZWAY LIGHTENING BOLT JW (2yrs D) Super in profile, Skull broad, nice expression. Neck moderately long. Super muscle tone. Shoulders slope slightly. Nice straight forelegs of correct length. Chest deep. Topline correct. Thighs well muscled. Well-bent stifle. Moved out really well with good reach. Best of Breed

2nd SUTTON’S KENSESQUI ROCKROSE ROLL (9m D) Shame to have met 1 today who was far more mature. Still a puppy and a little on the raw side still. Lovely head and expression. Good topline and nice rear angles. A little finer all through than I would like. (Was called for best puppy but had already gone I think so wasn’t awarded)

Post Graduate (3/0) 1ST POWELL & TARRANT’S NEWTONBRIAR PURE BLISS (19m B) Super profile, correct topline. Head correct, with broad skull Straight forelegs and chest deep. Neck muscular and good shoulder. Stood on nice compact feet. A little messy behind on the move. Profile movement was good. Nice rear angles and well-muscled thighs. RBOB

2ND RUSSELL’S FRAULNZWAY HAYLEY’S COMET (21m B) Close up 2nd place this, really like this girl in profile. Super topline and in super muscular condition. Good neck and well-muscled shoulder. Chest deep, could be a little straighter in front. 3RD CHIDWICK’S KENZDUO LILAC SPRING

Open (5/2) 1ST GRAHAM & SERPA’S WINTERWELL TUBBY TOMPKIN FROM NYLIRAM JW I really liked a lot about this dog, super head, nice eye, ears set well. Neck moderate and muscular with a slight arch, shoulders sloping and muscular. Chest Deep. Forelegs too short which impacted the movement. Nice strong thigh and well bent stifle. 

2ND TAYLOR & THOMAS’ PINGARYPOINT PUZZLED AT KNABYNNUS (4yrs B) Good head, broad skull and moderate neck, slight arch, shoulders could be more muscled up. Chest could be a little deeper, and would like a straighter front. Moved out well. A little untidy coming to.

Graduate (2/0) 1ST HARRIES’ GLEOMAC DAFFODILS IN BLOOM (2yrs B) A little lacking in coat. Nice profile slightly longer than tall. Movement could be cleaner going and coming to, won the class as had more substance than 2. Eyes a little light. Rear angles ok. Best of Breed

2ND BROWN’S MATRAVERS CHEROKEE (2.5yrs B) Much better coat than 1, but I preferred the head of 1, slightly narrow. Eyes good, Neck strong, Shoulder could be more muscular, and would like more muscle all through. Would like a little more bone. Topline good. Moved out well in profile. RBOB

Special Yearling (5/1) 1st CHALLIS’ VIZSLANYA VIZI JW (21m B) Looks lovely in profile, super condition. Correct head, noble appearance, ears set correctly. Good eye. Neck strong and muscular, chest moderately broad, straight front and upright pastern. Moderate rear angulation. Moved well with decent lively trot. One to watch RBOB

2ND GIST & PARKER’S GLENBROWS ROUGE (6m B) At just 6months old this puppy presented a super type. Super head and expression. Good earset. Neck strong, correct depth of chest. Level topline moved out so well for just a baby. Certainly more to come from this one. Best Puppy

3RD MILNER’S IVYVIZBRIDGE JUST THOMAS

Post Graduate (5/1) 1ST GIST & PARKER’S GLENBROWS CALAMITY JW (23m B) Best mover in this class, head correct, nice eye and correct earset, muscular neck, well laid shoulder. Would like just a little more upper arm, lacked a bit of reach. 

2ND COOMBE’S AMARANTOS BELLARIA AT CASTLEFIELD (2yrs B) Nice in profile, front could be a little straighter, which did impact he movement coming to. Moderate rear angles, nice head and good eye. Lost the class on movement today

3RD MILNER’S IVYVIZBRIDGE JUST THOMAS (REPEAT)

Open (3/1) 1ST CHALLIS’ VIZSLANYA CSIBE JW (3yrs B) Super type, in super condition. Head correct, super noble expression, neck strong and muscular, shoulder well laid. Topline level, moderately broad chest. Good feed and nice straight front. Rear angles moderate. Moved out well in all profiles pleased to award her Best of Breed

Graduate (3/0) 1st RIDGWAY’S ZOLDMALI HUNTER SAMAN (9m D) Typy dog, good head fairly broad, moderate length of neck. Well laid shoulder, correct topline, well sprung ribs. Moderate rear angles, still a youngster and needs to muscle up a little and fill his frame. Super mover in all profiles for one so young. Pleased to award him Best of Breed & Best Puppy

2ND COULBERT’S STARSHOT MINORITY (12m D) Another of good type. Super head, muscular neck of moderate length slightly arched, shoulders well laid. Nice top line. Moderate rear angles, nice feet. Just let down on the move today could match movement of 1 3RD GIBBONS & BEARDSHALL’S KARNDOR ADA

Open (1/0) 1st BEARDSHALL’S KARNDOR TAMAS (2yrs D) Looks lovely in profile, nice head, eyes could be a little darker. Good topline correct proportions just slightly longer than tall, Chest deep, tail well set. Moderate rear angles, lacking a little muscle tone, and a little weak behind on the move today. RBOB

Post Graduate (2/0) 1ST LUFF’S LYNDYCK IMO GRADY (11m B) Head correct, divergence visible. Neck short well muscled. Body proportions correct. Strong well laid shoulder, topline correct. Would like more bend of stifle. A little untidy on the move. Best Puppy

2ND MORTIMER’S SCODINZOLARE PHOTOULLA (2yrs B) Presents a longer caste profile than 1. Head ok, nice eye, ears set on well. Neck short and moderately muscled. Topline correct. Would like more bone. Moved out well, in profile a little untidy coming to.

Open (3/0) 1ST KRUGLOW’S AMBERELLIE ROSANNA (3yrs B) Presents a correct profile, super head planes. Good short but well muscled neck. Shoulders well laid back. Correct topline. Decent bone, and nice straight front. Best mover today, and such a super expression couldn’t deny her Best of Breed

2ND LUFF & DAVIES’ BEAU (IMP ITA) (3yrs D) Much more substantial dog, quite heavy over the shoulder which impacted the movement a little. Super head, neck short. Topline correct. Presents an almost square outline. Good rear angles.

Puppy (4/2) 1st ROLF, PARKER & HIPKISS’ SKYSARIA BLAZE OF HOPE (7m D) Balanced profile, a little raw as to be expected of his age. Slightly wedge shaped head and moderately broad and rounded, with prominent occiput. Ears set on high, deep chest and well sprung rib. A little erratic on the move but got it together. Best puppy 

2ND BOYD’S SKYSARIA ETERNAL FLAME Litter brother to 1, they carry a lot of the same characteristics good head, neck and eye. Well laid shoulder, good spring of rib. Needs a little more training.

Special Yearling (4/0) 1st ROLF, PARKER & HIPKISS’ SKYSARIA BLAZE OF HOPE (REPEAT)

2ND PEAT & FOX’S TOLLISTY GINGER CHAI (12m B) Correct head, nice eye. Well muscled neck and well laid shoulder. Super coat, Chest deep, couldn’t beat 1 on type today. Nice rear angles and good feet.

Post Graduate (5/1) 1ST HUGHES’ ABACOT INTO THE UNKNOWN JW (3yrs D) Good head and eye. Ears set on high. Neck well muscled. Shoulders well laid. Chest moderately deep. Straight front. Stifles well bent. Moved out well and slightly converging behind on the move. RBOB

Open (6/1) 1ST PALFREY’S EUSANIT WILD ATLANTIC WAY Stand out for me today. Super type, nice substance and good amount of bone. Head correct nice eye and correct ear set. Muscular neck and well laid shoulder. Nice straight front. Chest deep. Accurate mover in all profiles, nice tail set. Best of Breed

2ND WARD’S MELANITTA PALMATA JW Much heavier dog than 1. Nice type, head correct shape with good eye and earset. Neck moderate and shoulders well placed. Good front, Chest deep enough. Rear angles moderate. Not as clean on the move as 1.
