Houndshow Open 2024 24th March 2024 Judge- Ian Sexton I would like to thank the committee of the Houndshow for inviting me to judge BIS, I had a really enjoyable day and would like to thank the exhibitors for their entries. The overall quality of the exhibits in best in show and best puppy in show was truly outstanding and I was spoilt for choice. I was very pleased with all my placings and there were many more dogs and bitches that did not make the initial cut in both groups that I am sure will go on to have successful careers. AV Import Register Black & Tan Coonhound Open Dog or Bitch (2) 1st. Mrs J Stanley’s Covehithe Steam Boat Willy. At 6 years old he was substantial and well boned; a powerful looking dog and I am sure he would be well suited to his job. His head is masculine and of the correct proportions, he has dark eyes and well set ears, the correct bite and dentition. Strong neck and well laid shoulders, level back, deep brisket and well spring ribs, he has well bent stifles and low set hocks, his movement was sound and true showing reach and drive in profile, very pleased to award him Best Import Register. 2nd. Mrs M Belcher’s Oakhills lady Liberty (Imp USA). An 8 ½ year old bitch, I would have preferred more overall substance, she is feminine throughout with a kind expression, dark eyes and the correct bite and dentition. Well laid shoulders and a level back, nicely bent stifles, and low set hocks she moved steadily around the ring. Junior Handling- Aged 6-11 1st. Georgina Clarke aged 11 years. Georgina was handling a very nice Beagle, although he was naughty on the table, she handled him very well and completed the movement in a controlled manner, I wish Georgina every success in the future. Junior Handling- Aged 12-16 1st. Melody Harrison aged 14 years. Melody was handling a Long Haired Dachshund, and she did so very well and was in harmony with her dog and did what I asked her to a good standard, if melody continues with junior handling, I hope she is successful in the future. AV Hound Open Dog or Bitch (24)10 1st. Mr Rob Wheeler and Mrs Kay Rutter’s- Ranveli Royal Touch, (Whippet). An 16 month old bitch and she is very feminine and elegant, showing plenty of breed type and being balanced and in proportion.
