Judge-Ian Sexton

I would like to thank the committee of Honley show for inviting me to judge today, I enjoyed my judging, but I must say that I think the movement of some of the exhibits was adversely affected by the uneven and rough ring.

AVNSC Hound

Puppy (1)

1st. Miss E Mcintosh & C Mackall’s Chagall Iona with Attitude (Rhodesian Ridgeback).

A 7 month old bitch, showing excellent type, balanced and without exaggeration, a little white on her chest and front paws. She has a head and muzzle of the correct proportions, dark eye and the correct bite, her neck is of the correct length, shoulders sloping, deep chest and ribs with the correct spring and ribcage carried well back, correct length of loin. She has a good turn of stifle, correct feet and she moved soundly showing reach and drive in profile. Best AVNSC Puppy.

Junior (2)

1st. Miss E Mcintosh & C Mackall’s Chagall Iona with Attitude (Rhodesian Ridgeback).

2nd. Mrs A Taylors Erylan pois De Sentieur For Nottorg (cjw24) (PBGV).

A 17 month old bitch typical in outline and being balanced and in proportion, she has a head of the correct proportions, dark eyes and the correct bite, ears well set on and of the correct length, long neck, well laid shoulders, deep chest, level topline. Strong rear quarters and stifles well bent, her movement was lively and sound, just seemed a little raw at the moment but she will improve with maturity, a promising youngster..

PG (2)1

1st. Mrs J Pyatt & Mrs J Cottrell’s Wazifi Alsasha (Saluki).

A 2 year old male, being masculine and showing strength throughout, a long narrow head, dark eyes and the correct bite, ears well set and of the correct length. He has a long strong neck, his shoulders are well laid back and has a deep chest, showing a gentle cut up and a strong loin, his rear quarters are strong, and he has nicely bent stifles. His movement was strong and true, but I think he was affected by the uneven ground today, Best AVNSC Hound.

Open (3)

1st. Miss E Mcintosh & C Mackall’s Benicloujam Lola of Chagall (Rhodesian Ridgeback).

A 4 year old bitch showing a typical outline, I would prefer stronger head proportions, she has a dark eye and the correct bite, ears well set on, dark eyes and an elegant neck of the correct length. She has sloping shoulders, deep brisket and a gentle rise to her underline, her rear quarters are balanced with her front assembly, she moved in a steady and collected manner.

2nd. G Scarth’s Lunar Eclipse Radley Neshma Tova ( Saluki) (Imp ISR).

A 3 year old male, showing a typical outline, head of the correct proportions, ears well covered with long silky hair, he has a long and supple neck, shoulders set sloping deep chest and a gentle rise to his underline and correct length of loin. He moved soundly.

A 7 year old male showing a balanced outline, head of the correct proportions, long neck, well laid shoulders, deep chest, gentle rise to his underline, topline correct, nicely angulated rear quarters, he moved steadily around the ring, I just preferred the movement and overall attitude of the class winner.

A strong and moderately arched neck, shoulders sloping, deep chest, back sloping slightly, strong rear quarters with nicely bent stifles. Open (1)

1st. . Mrs S & Miss L Perfitt’s Samjoe Shadowhunter JW.

A male at 20 months and is the litter brother to the previous class winner, I liked him as much as his sister but just felt that he is a little raw compared to her at the moment, but I am sure with maturity he too has a very promising future.
