July 14th 2024

Judge:  Miss H A Upton

I would like to thank the committee for the invitation to judge their breed club open show in conjunction with their Championship Show. A warm welcome and the weather was fabulous so we had the opportunity to use the large outside rings. Thank you to my wonderful stewards who kept a well-organised and flowing ring.

Best In Show -  HEATH & ROBINSON - PINSEEKER PEP GUARDIOLA JW

Reserve Best in Show and Best Opposite Sex - BLAY - SH CH BARLEYACH SKYE AT LONGBARROW ShCM

Best Puppy in Show - HAMMOND & COOKE - SEASHAM KISS ME

Best Veteran in Show - BLAY - SH CH BARLEYACH SKYE AT LONGBARROW ShCM

Best Field Trial in Show - NIXON - CH QUINTANA LUNAR ECLIPSE

Baby Puppy Dog or Bitch (7:1) What a fabulous way to start the day off by judging this very promising and exciting baby puppy class.

1st - SIELSKI -  ORCHIDSTAR TICK TOCK  No, denying this was a bitch feminine throughout, she oozed confidence. She is beautifully balanced for her age and presents with a pretty clean-cut head with a gentle expression, she has correct neck and good front angulation, and standing on tight feet, she has plenty of depth to her chest, and ample spring to rib for her age, firm short topline with correct tail set and carriage, she owned the ring on the move, moved effortlessly and with good reach and drive.

2nd - SCHONEVILLE - BALVENIE FIDDLE DIDDLE Similar in type to 1, nicely balanced, feminine head of good proportions, clean neck and lay of shoulders, ribs need to spring but at 16 weeks old this is to come, ample amount of bone for age, lovely hind angulation which she put to use on the move. Another promising puppy who I will watch with interest.

 3rd - BRUDENELL-PRYKE & GALLAGHER - VENATUR INDICUS

Reserve - KEY - ORCHIDSTAR TIME TO CHIME

Vhc - BRUDENELL-PRYKE & GALLAGHER - VENATUR AUGUR

Minor Puppy Dog (2:0) 2 puppies from the same litter here, both at 6 months of age and of medium size.

1st - HAMMOND & COOKE - SEASHAM SHOW ME THE WAY This handsome male presented a graceful outline and came alive on the move. I preferred this male's overall balance, well-boned and muscled for age. A handsome head however I would prefer slightly less foreface, the head is clean-cut and well-proportioned to the body, with soft expression, a clean neck into well-laid shoulders, ample depth to chest, with a good amount of spring to rib, standing on straight front with good bone and with strong hindquarters. Came alive on the move showing plenty of reach and drive and holding topline. BPD

2nd - ADAMS, HAMMOND & COOKE - SEASHAM IT HAD TO BE YOU AT JENZO Handsome puppy, not as clean in the head as 1, but a lovely expression, slightly longer in body than I would prefer but still presenting as balanced due to length of leg, ample depth from withers to brisket, and a good amount of spring to rib for age. Moved ok once settled. Both are promising puppies and will watch with interest as they age.

Puppy Dog (4:0)

1st - EDLIN - MISTCHAPEL STORM SHADOW A handsome and well-balanced puppy with plenty of substance, the handler needs to work on presentation as he has it all there but could be overlooked if not presented correctly. A clean masculine head of correct proportions, a lovely expression soft but with a touch of mischief in the eyes, a well-muscled neck of correct length leading into well-laid shoulders, standing on straight front with tight feet, plenty of forechest in this male, loved the depth and width to the chest, strong topline with correct run off to the tail, strong and well-angulated hindquarters, moved well and covered the ground with ease.

2nd - HAMMOND & COOKE - SEASHAM JINGLE JANGLE On first appearance I thought this male would be my winner, presented to advantage and does take your eyes to him, however, I preferred the substance and head proportions of my winner. A balanced youngster with a clean head, neck, and shoulders, deep-chested with ample spring to rib for the body type. Owned the ring on the move, and easily covered the big ring.

3rd - WEBSTER - JOMEEL PULP FICTION

Reserve - YARWOOD - SPERANT HIBOU OF KOMIKHUND

Junior Dog (6:1)

1st - WEBSTER- JOMEEL PULP FICTION 3rd in the puppy class, lacking the substance and balance of 1&2, I would prefer more to the head, clean slightly arched neck leading into sloping and muscular shoulders, straight front with elbows well laid back, plenty of spring to the rib, well-bent stifles, needs time to mature, moved well covering the ground with ease and enthusiasm.

2nd - TURNBALL - AYTEE QUANTAS I preferred the head on this dog, cleaner in the head than 1 with a skull sufficiently broad and well-proportioned, gentle expression. Presented as well-boned and muscled for age, slightly longer in cask than I would have liked but with ample depth and spring to chest. Handler needs to be careful about how long they stand this male as rear angulation was lost. Moved well with drive and enthusiasm.

3rd -  WARR & FARROW - NAVIGAREAMOR CREDO IN TE

Reserve - TUDOR - ORCHIDSTAR MEMPHIS GOLD AT BROCADOR

Vhc - YARWOOD - SPERENT HIBOU OF KOMIKHUND

Yearling Dog (3:0)

1st - TURNBALL - AYTEE QUANTAS Rpt Junior Dog

2nd - WARR & FARROW - NAVIGAREAMOR CREDO IN TE 16-month-old, masculine head of correct proportions, a soft but alert expression, presented in good condition with plenty of muscle, not quite as balanced as others at this stage. Moved well once settled and held topline on the move.

3rd - RYMER SARSCOTTAH EASY RYDER AT ROLLENWOOD

Novice Dog (2:0)

1st - MAPES - AGDENUSHER MULBERRY Masculine head of correct proportions, soft and intelligent expression with good shape to the eye,  longer in body than I would prefer but still presenting as balanced, standing on good bone and tight feet, clean neck with ample muscle, strong topline, ample depth and width to chest. Covered the ground with ease with good reach and drive.

2nd - ADAMS, HAMMOND & COOKE - SEASHAM IT HAD TO BE YOU AT JENZO Rpt Minor Puppy Dog

Post Graduate Dog (3:0)

1st - MAPES - AGDENUSHER MULBERRY Rpt Novice Dog

2nd - WHITE - MY PRIDE AND JOY A pleasure to judge this dog at one of his first shows with his owner, he is a substantial male whom I’d prefer a little less of. A masculine head with nicely shaped eyes and expression, strong topline, and gradual slope over the croup to tail, presented in good condition with plenty of muscle, he showed off his front and rear angulation on the move, where he covered the ground effortlessly.

3rd - MILLIGAN - GREYELF TARRAN

Limit Dog (5:0)

1st - HEATH & ROBINSON - PINSEEKER PEP GUARDIOLA JW I wrote in my notes “just look at me attitude”, this male is eye-catching, he presents as a ‘noble steady dog showing power and endurance’, he has good bone and plenty of muscle, he is masculine throughout and presents as balanced, still quite young and this shows in his mischievous attitude. Masculine clean-cut head of correct proportions with a gentle but mischievous expression, clean neck of moderate length, great depth from withers to brisket with the right amount of spring to rib for his size, strong topline, good front and rear angulation, which when he got his act together he put to use cruising around the ring. There was no denying him BD and BIS.

2nd - ANGUS - KEIGAME HVITSERK OF SPARKENHOE Of different type to 1, masculine throughout, with a handsome head of correct proportions, clean neck, and shoulders, ample forechest, strong topline with good depth of brisket, lovely bend of stifle with plenty of muscle to the thighs. Moved out well with plenty of reach and drive and covering the ground with ease.

3rd - SERPA & GRAHAM - WINTERWELL TUBBY TOMPKIN FROM NYLIRAM JW

Reserve - MEWSE - ALLEZWECK TOCCOA AT KRIMSHAR

Vhc - HILL - CEILLOCH RUSSIAN

Open Dog (4:0)

1st - MARSH - KILNRAE BERLINER This dog surprised me, at first glance I thought he was too big for what I was looking for, however, I was looking for overall balance and a dog that could cover the ground with effortless footfall and this dog had all of that. Masculine in the head with a sufficiently broad skull, one of the few male heads that had the gradual rise over the nasal bone to forehead, gentlemanly expression. This dog came alive on the move, he covered the ground effortlessly holding his topline and with one with his handler, very close up for top awards.

2nd - MELLOR - EVAGROVE EXCLUSIVE Smaller type to 1, remaining balanced with plenty of bone and muscle. Good head proportions, soft expression with dark eye, good body length with short strong back, ample spring to rib. Good fore and hind angulation which he showed off on the move, moved well around the large ring.

3rd - MORRISS-GARGET & MORRISS - WINTERWELL EEH BY GUM WITH GARVIN

Reserve - PEEBLES & HAMMOND - SEASHAM THE GROOVER

Veteran Dog (2:0)

1st - SIELSKI - SH CH ORCHIDSTAR BONDS OF SPEED JW ShCM 7-year-old male who presents as powerful, with good bone and muscle in all the right places, carrying just the right amount of weight and full of masculinity Handsome head of correct proportions, with a beautiful expression, a muscular neck of ample length, leading into clean front angulation strong topline, good depth of brisket and well-sprung ribs, fabulous rear angulation which he used on the move driving from the rear and covering the ground effortlessly. Beautifully handled by the owner, RBD.

2nd - PINGAULT - SH CH TAFTAZINI AIDEN ABBETT I wrote, “Very typey”. Presented as balanced and masculine throughout, I preferred the hind movement on 1, but not taking anything away from this dog. Beautiful head, neck, and shoulders, straight forelegs of correct bone, well-arched feet, good depth to brisket, and plenty of lung room. Moved out across the ring effortlessly and with lots of enthusiasm.

Field Trial Dog (0)

Minor Puppy Bitch (1:0)

1st - HAMMOND & COOKE - SEASHAM KISS ME A feminine, compact bitch with great balance.  I loved her attitude in the ring, it was very much ‘look at me’ and was presented beautifully by the handler.  Very pretty in head, with the most beautiful of expressions, good length to her neck which leads into well-laid shoulders, short firm topline, with correct slope off over the croup, ample depth and width to chest for one so young, straight in forelegs with beautifully tight feet, well-muscled thigh and plenty of bend to stifle, another one from this kennel that came alive on the move, she covered the ground with effortless footfall. BPB and beat her brother to BPIS.

Puppy Bitch (8:0) This was a very exciting puppy class with an abundance of quality, I needed more 1st place cards.

1st - MANN - VALGER TIGGYWINKLE I loved this bitch for her overall balance and breed type. She presents as a bitch that has power and endurance and who could work all day. Feminine from head to toe, pretty head of correct proportions, beautiful neck and shoulder placement, firm topline, the correct amount of spring to rib for age and statue, standing on good fore, and fabulous rear angulation. Movement was steady with plenty of reach and drive, just lacking the ‘look at me attitude’ of the minor puppy.

2nd - PEEBLES - SEASHAM TOO MUCH HEAVEN Different type to 1, slightly more compact than 1. Beautifully feminine in head, with the gentlest of expressions, moderate slightly arched neck, leading into well-laid shoulders, the chest is deep with ample spring to the rib for age, stands on good fore and rear angulations with a good amount of bone and muscle and stands on tight feet. She moved across the ring with purpose and drive once she settled.

3rd - WILSON - SEASHAM HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE

Reserve - STALEY - JOMEEL PINK FIZZ

Vhc - DODD & HAYES - LAGOPUSMOOR BLACK MANDALA ON ELFRINDEW

Junior Bitch (6:0)

1st -  MANN - VALGER TIGGYWINKLE Rpt Puppy B

2nd - PEEBLES - SEASHAM TOO MUCH HEAVEN Rpt Puppy B

3rd - KANIA - PINSEEKER LADY LUCK AT PEAKFOREST

Reserve - ELRINGTON - TEQUESTA HAPPY VALLEY

Vhc - ELLIS - SOELLIS FERAL BERYL JW

Yearling Bitch (2:0)

1st - ANGUS - KEIGAME HEARTS DESIRE FROM SPARKENHOE (AI) JW A balanced bitch of the correct size, she is pretty in the head with a soft expression with good eye shape and colour, good length to the neck and leading into well-placed shoulders, depth of chest correct for body size, and plenty of lung room, standing on straight front forelegs with tight feet, she has good rear angulation. She came alive on the move and covered the ground effortlessly with a good amount of reach and drive.

2nd - VARNEY - DALLEYDREAM QUEEN BEE Slightly more rangy in type than 1 although remains feminine. Pretty-headed bitch I would prefer a slightly darker eye to give the gentle expression I come to expect in a GSP. She is well ribbed up and has good depth to the chest, she is stronger in her hindquarters than the fore at this stage, with plenty of muscle on the thigh with a good bend of stifle. Once settled she moved well.

Novice Bitch (2:0)

1st - WILSON - SEASHAM HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE 3rd in puppy, this bitch was very close to beating her litter sister in the puppy class, however, she just lacks the showmanship of her sister that finishes the overall picture. She is feminine throughout, with a pretty head with the softest of expressions, she is balanced with good fore and hind angulation and a short firm topline. I am sure she and her sister will swap places on many occasions.

2nd - MINGO - AYTEE QUINCE More substantial and lacks the balance of 1 at this time. Slightly heavier in the head but remaining feminine, Good depth from withers to brisket, firm topline, would prefer her to be slightly shorter in the back. Moved out well covering the ground with ease.

Post Grad Bitch (3:1)

1st - EDLIN - GRAYGEES TSARINE I really liked this bitch for breed type, however, the handler needs to work on ensuring she presents her shape correctly in the ring. She is a very attractive bitch with good balance, presented with good bone and muscle throughout. She has the most feminine of heads with a lovely expression, moderate length to the neck, good shoulder placement, and depth of chest plentiful with ample spring to the rib. Moved out well covering the ground effortlessly with good reach and drive. She was very close to top honours.

2nd - YARWOOD - RHOSYNGLAS BOOTES IF KOMIKHUND Not as balanced as 1 was with a junior handler who did her very best to get the best out of her. Pretty headed, with a more alert expression than some, you could tell her mind was anywhere but in the ring, well ribbed up, well muscled, not as tidy in the front angulation as 1. Unfortunately, I was unable to assess true movement as she was so distracted. Moved ok when got into her stride.

Limit Bitch (7:1)

1st - DELANEY - ARCHERPOINT SEA THE STARS AT REDMIRES There's no denying this is a bitch, she is feminine throughout, pretty headed of correct size with a gentle expression and nicely shaped eyes, lovely ear set to finish the head, clean neck of moderate length leading into well-placed shoulders, good depth of chest with a good amount of lung room, straight in the foreleg, she has good topline which she holds on the move, ample bend in stifle and standing on good pasterns and tight feet. Moved out with plenty of reach and drive and covered the ground with ease. One I considered for top honours.

2nd - JOWSEY - WINTERWEL STONEY TRAIL A more substantial bitch than 1 and lacking the finesse, presents as balanced and like she could work all day. Pretty head of correct proportions, a lovely expression, a clean neck, and shoulders, deep in brisket with plenty of spring to rib, short firm back with a correct gradual slope off over the croup, she is well muscled and boned and stands on good fore and rear angulation, moved out well covering the ground with ease.

3rd - STALEY - JOMEEL NOW I’M HERE

Reserve - COX - CUSHATLAW ATHENA JW

Vhc - WHITEHOUSE - KAZANPAUL PRAWN CRACKER

Open Bitch (10:1) This class was the most difficult of the day, and I wish I had more 1st places.

1st - HAMMOND & COOKE - SH CH SEASHAM I LOVE TO BOOGIE JW This girl is another one from this kennel who has the ‘look at me’ attitude in the ring. She won this quality class on her overall balance and ‘pizazz’ on the move. Feminine throughout, pretty in the head, great depth to the chest, and well ribbed up. She is shown in good condition with plenty of muscle and bone. Good front and rear angulation which she put on display around the ring. Moving out across the big ring with effortless footfall.

2nd - PEARSON - SH CH WINTERWELL LULU MOPPET TO LADYHAWKE JW Differing type to 1, a compact well balanced feminine bitch, prettiest of heads with a lovely soft expression with dark eye stands, short in back with a graceful outline, deep in the chest with well-sprung ribs, good tuck up to loin from ribs, standing on straight front, tight feet, rear angulation strong and with plenty of width, with plenty of muscle on the thigh, well-bent stifles. Moved out well across the ring, I just preferred the extra sparkle on the move of 1 today.

3rd - BROWN & FILBY - SH CH WINTERWELL THAT’LL DO FOR DESJIEM JW

Reserve - SIELSKI - ORCHIDSTAR MISSING LINK JW

Vhc - STALEY - JOMEEL OLIVIA’S CHOICE

Veteran Bitch (6:2)

1st - BLAY - SH CH BARLEYACH SKYE AT LONGBARROW ShCM I have judged this bitch before as a youngster and my opinion has not changed on her. A bitch that can often lack the show attitude, but today she bought it to the table. A medium-sized, balanced bitch, presented in good coat and condition. She is feminine throughout, she has a beautiful head of correct proportions with a soft expression, short firm topline, deep-chested with ample spring to rib, and carrying just the right amount of weight today to show her tuck-up, she stands on a straight front with tight feet, well angulated in the rear with good bend of stifle. Today she owned the ring on the move, moving with good reach and drive and giving the appearance of a well-ordinated energetic dog. Pleased to award her BB, RBIS, BOS, and BVIS.

2nd - MILLIGAN - ISARA KURZHAAR ALL SPICE Lovely balanced bitch of a slightly bigger build than 1. Pretty head with a distinguished expression, good front and rear angulation, deep in chest, and well ribbed up. Strong topline. Another that covered the ground well on the move, moving with drive and enthusiasm.

3rd - PEARSON - SH CH LADYHAWKE DIZZY MISS LIZZY

Reserve - NIXON - FT CH QUINTANA CLOUD BERRY

Field Trial Bitch (2:0)

1st - NIXON - CH QUINTANA LUNAR ECLIPSE  I’ve written in my notes ‘Wow movement’ I could have watched her move all day long and she presents as a bitch who could certainly do that. She sure fits the words ‘power, endurance, and speed’. She is a beautifully balanced bitch with a feminine head and soft expression with a strong topline and good depth to the chest. I would prefer a better tail set but this doesn’t take away from the overall construction. She is well-muscled and has good bone and feet. A bitch I am sure loves being out in the field. Pleased to award her RBB.

2nd - NIXON - FT CH QUINTANA CLOUD BERRY Mother to 1 slightly on the larger size, and not as balanced as her daughter. Noble head with a kind expression. The daughter takes after her on the move as she moves out with good reach and drive covering the ground with ease a real pleasure to see mother and daughter in the ring together.
