Perthshire Canine Club

Breed: BIS, Gundogs & AV

Perthshire Canine Club Open Show 4 May 2024

I would like to thank everyone involved with the show for making this a truly special day . It is a long time since I attended such a fantastically organized show & the quality of the dogs & the tremendous bonhomie of the exhibitors will make it a day I will long remember. I was ably supported by my enthusiastic stewards & I would particularly like to say thanks to the impressive young junior who is obviously going to be a force to be recognized with in the future! Finally thankyou for the lovely personal gifts which I really appreciated.

I was honoured to judge BIS and out of a ring of quality dogs the standout winner was the exciting young GWHP O’Brien’s Caldewriver Storm n’ Teacup for Katillien, It is a long time since I was so blown away by a dog at an open show. She totally dominated the ring & besides her obvious qualities her outstanding movement & condition personified the ‘fit for function ‘ we are looking for in all breeds. There is no doubt that this bitch would be as equally impressive in the field as she is in the ring. I also appreciated the way she was sympathetically handled to ensure that the focus was on the dog not on the person with her.

RBIS the Samoyed Ch Another Benji for Yoshi and us (Imp Svk)

BPIS was the Chinese Crested Hunter-Ryan, Shaw & Punton. Bryelis’s Oh I Wannabe Famous. well-proportioned young lady who was still showing herself to advantage at the end of a long day. Very sound with a well constructed body & really striding around the ring. Reserve best Puppy in show and Reserve best special minor puppy was the Lhasa Apso Lhasenna Lep Daayum Prue. Best special minor puppy the Whippet Collooney for your eyes only

Best special veteran in show the Samoyed Ch Right one for Mesen Yoshi and Us (Imp Svk); Reserve Best Special Veteran in show the Tibetan Spaniel Ch Susu Princess Spice Parti Jw VW W17

Best handler: Erin Logie. Best Junior Handler: Jackson Kirkwood Emery

May I apologise for the lack of critiques for all these lovely winners – at the end of a long day with so many specials there just wasn’t the time for me to write notes – suffice it to say they were all excellent examples of their breeds that I liked very much.
