Lanarkshire Canine Society Open Show 11th August 2024

My thanks to the Committee for my invitation to judge at this lovely outdoor show, and to my extremely hardworking steward who ensured that the ring ran smoothly and efficiently. I was pleased with my entry of such lovely dogs and owners who accepted my decisions with good sportsmanship. The weather was unbelievably beautiful and warm, which I hope didn’t affect the exhibits or exhibitors too much. It truly added to the lovely and relaxed atmosphere.

Class 129. Bearded Collie Junior (4,0)

1st Gibb, Ms. Sandra & Mrs. Marion Dungavell DEBBEACOL DEVIL IN DISGUISE AT PIRATEER

17 months old slate grey male. Very good outline and body proportions. Well developed head with clean eye and good pigment throughout. Moved correct away and towards with free sidegait.

2nd Handley, Mrs. B & Mr. K STRUFINGILL MAVERICK AT BARKENBEAR (Also Best Special Pastoral Puppy)

6 months old back and white male in good puppy coat. Very good body proportions with matching angles front and rear. Well balanced. Sweet character. Very animated but controlled on the move showing flowing gait. Well-schooled for one so young.

3rd Cox, Mrs. Jennifer STRUFINGILL TOP GUN FOR COIRANTEE (2nd in class 145 AV Pastoral MP)

6 months old black and white male in good puppy coat. Well-proportioned head with clean eye and good pigment throughout. Lovely outline in stance with good proportions and well-matched angles. Moved out well away and towards with good sidegait. Not as settled in the ring as 2.

1st Ryan, Mrs. C DYCHIX INVICTUS FOR RAZKAL SHCEX

4 years old grey and white male of slightly stretched proportions with good topline. Lovely head with lovely expression. Hands on confirmed a good forehand and matching hind angles. His topline was retained on the move.

2ndGoodbrand, Mrs. Joanne BRAESNOBEL RUM N’RAISIN

3 years old female of good size. Sweet, feminine expression. Correct body proportions and shown in good coat. Moved correct away and towards, however just had a tendency to drop her head and topline in sidegait.

1st Kuz, Mrs. Lynne & Lynne Kuz DUNCANNAS SPECIAL EDITION AT STRUFINGILL JW BOB RBIS

5 years old slate grey male. Good depth of markings. Showed a very good typical outline in stance with correct proportions. Nothing overdone. Masculine head and confident expression with good pigment. Well made angles front and rear. Correct away and towards with super flowing and effortless sidegait. Delighted to see he went on to take RBIS

2nd Handley, Mrs. B & Mr. BARGEMON BRIGADOON AT BARKENBEAR JW

3.5 year old male carrying a little weight today. Slightly stretched proportions in stance. Very good head and expression, with good angles front and rear. Another with super sidegait.

17 months old blue merle female with lovely head and expression. Very good body proportions and level back. Showed good angles front and rear. A little close going away and correct towards. Good sidegait retaining outline.

2nd Babiak, Mr. & Mrs. Eric and Margaret UPSIDE DOWN DE REMEMBER OUR LOVE AT EAGEFALLS (IMP FRA)

11 months old sable male. Beautiful eyes in a very appealing head. Well-proportioned body with good angles front and rear with very good topline. Carrying a little weight today however. Slightly close away and correct towards with good sidegait.

7 year old tri colour female in very good coat and condition. Refined head and sweet expression. Good body proportions and well balanced angles front and rear. Moved well, but I would prefer a little more enthusiasm.

2nd Clark Kerr, Mrs. Dawn UFFSPRING UNIQUELY MAYD FOR WHITECRAIGS

5 year old tricolour female with very good coat. Sweet expression. Good body proportions and well angled front and rear. Correct away and towards and animated in sidegait, however did have a tendency to a slight roll over the back.

Good rear angles which she used to advantage exhibiting a powerful coordinated gait around the ring to take the class and BOB

2nd 450 Manson Miss Leah CALWINII’S AQUA BLOOM

16 months old red and white female. Another well-proportioned head and sweet expression. Well developed for age but carrying a little weight today. Good front assembly, and good angles front and rear. Lower to the ground than 1. Didn’t quite settle on the move.

12.5 year old brown wolf sable dog out of coat but in good physical condition. Very correct head, ear set and expression, shown to advantage. Very good body proportions and lovely matched angles front and rear. A picture in stance. Moved correct away and towards with good animated sidegait.

5 years old female in stunning white. Lovely head proportions and well placed correct ears. Sweet expression and showing good pigment. Coat in excellent condition with well shaped feet. Showed a very good overline and shape in movement when settled. Animated sidegait. Carrying a little weight today.

2nd McRobbie Mrs. Dorothy & I McRobbie BONDSMOOR AUTUMNAL RAINBOW

4 years old female of slightly stretched body proportions again in stunning white. Well-proportioned head and good ears, well set. Sweet expression with good pigment. Moved correct away and towards, with good sidegait. Also carrying a little weight.

13.5 month sable and white female. Very good head proportions and lovely sweet expression with good pigment. Good body proportions and outline. Steady temperament. Moved slightly close away and single track towards. Very good sidegait. Not in coat today.

2nd Hepburn, Carol LETERIKHILLS RIVER TARA’S STAR

10.5 month sable and white with a lovely head and sweet expression. Well bodied with good angulation front and rear presenting a lovely picture in stance. Moved slightly close away and correct towards with very good sidegait. Just a little less animated than 1.

3 years old red and white male with very well proportioned and attractive head. I would prefer just a little less white on the muzzle. Good shape in stance with good angles front and rear. Moved correct away and towards with good sidegait. Another losing coat today.

5 year old blue merle with strong head which was well proportioned with good pigment. Lovely happy temperament. Very good body proportions. Moved well away and towards with flowing sidegait. I would prefer a little more animation.

2 years old sable and white male of slightly stretched proportions. Very good head with sweet expression and alert ear carriage. On the table, appeared a little steep in upper arm, but this resolved when moving on the ground, where he showed a good flowing sidegait.

7 years old blue merle female shown in stunning condition. Lovely feminine head of good proportions with super ear carriage. Alert and focused expression. Presented a very correct outline in stance composed of a well-proportioned body and very correct angles and level topline. Moved correct away and towards. Exceptional, powerful gait covering a lot of ground effortlessly. Pleased to award her BOB and Pastoral Gp2 and Best AV Veteran and delighted that she went on to BVIS.

2 year old tricolour male. Beautiful outline in stance, shown in glowing condition. Very good body proportions, and well angulated throughout. Going away had a tendency to appear hocky. Correct towards. Very good sidegait. Showed his socks off today. Unlucky to meet 1.

3 year old Beauceron male. Black and Tan with correct markings, shown in very good condition. Level backline. Strong masculine head of good proportions. Would prefer more animated ear carriage. Well bodied and good ribbing with strong bone. Correct oval toes and correct dewclaws. Moved correct away and towards with spacious gait retaining outline. Coat showed a slight wave across the back and loins.

2nd Stevenson, Mrs. Lynda & David Stevenson MOASDILEAS HEN BROON

3 years old brindle Catalan Sheepdog male. Just wouldn’t settle at all in the ring today making assessment difficult. Very good pigment and head proportions with good pigment on tongue and roof of mouth. Presented a good harsh coat with correct dewclaws. Did not settle on the move.
