EVESHAM & DISTRICT CANINE SOCIETY - OPEN SHOW – 14 July 2024

Thank you to the Committee for the kind invitation to judge at this well run Open Show on a glorious hot day set at the foot of the Malvern Hills and to my steward Cindy Stangroom and her assistant who ran the ring like clockwork, and to the exhibitors who entered under me with their quality dogs.

GERMAN SHORTHAIRED POINTER

1. Attwood & Turner’s Kavacanne Pina Colada Of Patterscourt, 8 year old liver and white ticked bitch still retaining her femininity and good movement. She has a pretty head of good proportions with dark expressive eyes and well set ears. Muscular neck of good length into well laid back shoulders, has depth to chest with elbows held in, ribs sprung back into short loin, straight forelegs with good bone and compact feet. Presented in hard condition and moved soundly with a good stride, RBOB.

1. Taylor & Thomas’s Pingarypoint Puzzled At Knabynnus, 4 year old liver and white ticked bitch slightly bigger in size but well balanced throughout. Very feminine clean cut head with dark expressive alert eyes, broad well set ears and large open nose. She has a lovely long arched neck, good layback of shoulders with a good return of upper arm, has depth and width to chest, well angulated front and rear and stands on straight forelegs with plenty of bone, tight feet and muscled hindquarters. Moved with good reach and drive, BOB.

2. Attwood & Turner’s Taftazini Laura Byding Of Patterscourt, 8 year old liver and white bitch more compact in outline than class winner and covered the ground well with sound driving action. She has a very feminine head with dark expressive and alert eyes and well positioned broad ears. Good length of neck, well laid shoulders, and ribs well sprung back into short loin, has straight well boned forelegs and compact feet, moved well.

1. Sandiford’s Hernwood Rocket Man, 8 month old puppy dog of quality with lots to like. He has a super masculine head well worked with dark eye colour & intelligent expression. Clean long arched neck set into correctly placed shoulders, has a good depth to chest with well sprung ribs for age and carried back, he is straight in front with elbows in and stands on strong flat boned forelegs. Well angulated front and rear with muscular hindquarters and good return of stifle. Presented in a quality coat of rich colour with lovely feathering, BP and pleased to watch him awarded PG3 well done.

2. Sandiford’s Hernwood Eternal Flame, 8 month old puppy bitch with a pretty feminine head, well defined stop and eyes of good shape and colour. Good length of neck, leading into sloping shoulders, well sprung ribs, elbows in, good body proportions and return of stifle, strong quarters for age which she used well on the move once settled. A promising puppy but not quite the ring presence of her litter brother at this stage.

1. Sandiford & Sandiford & Mazzeo’s Eusanit Marcella, nearly 2 year old bitch, smaller in stature but balanced throughout with a very feminine head, dark expressive eyes, correct stop and depth to her muzzle. She has a long lean neck leading into well laid back shoulders, correct topline and tail set, is compact in body with ribs well sprung back into a strong loin, has straight well boned legs and tight compact oval feet, moved freely with slashing tail.

2. Garbett’s Langstrumpf Hochsommer, 3 year old bitch with a very feminine head with clearly defined stop, dark kind eyes and long well set ears. Clean neck, firm topline and correct tail set, well angulated front and rear with good depth to chest and with a body well ribbed back. Well presented in gleaming flat coat and moved with drive but just preferred the more balanced outline of class winner.

1. Sandiford’s Hernwood Love Potion JW, nearly 2 year old elegant bitch of quality with lots to like about her, she is so well balanced and constructed with a head of quality together with movement won her the class. She has a very feminine head with plenty of chiselling, dark alert eyes of correct shape, well hung ears and good length of muzzle. Good reach of neck into well placed shoulders with good return of upper arm, is straight in front with elbows in on strong flat boned legs, firm level topline, body of good proportions with ribs well sprung, is short coupled and with muscled hindquarters. Presented in excellent coat and condition, very stylish mover with good reach and drive, BOB, pleased to watch her awarded G3.

2. Sandiford & Mazzeo’s Hernwood Christmas Prince, 5 year old dog who is very sound and has substance without being overdone. Masculine head of correct proportions with plenty of work and chiselling, well defined stop and dark expressive eyes. Muscular slightly arched neck set into well laid shoulders, has good width and depth to brisket, elbows set down close to body, strong loin and muscled hindquarters. Shown in gleaming coat with well defined tan markings unlucky to meet class winner who was on top form today, worthy RBOB.

1. Webb’s Alolfrana Whole Lotta Love With Redeshka, 15 month old very feminine bitch presenting a racy outline. She has an attractive head, lean in shape with good length, dark kind eye and low set ears. Clean arched neck of good length with gently sloping topline and correct tail set. She has good depth to chest with ribs well sprung and carried back, elbows, straight legs and compact feet. Presented well in lovely coat but did not move to advantage on the day.

1. Davies Kristesha A Thousand Kisses, 2 year old dog of good size and shape and balanced throughout. He has a long lean masculine head with chiselled brow, good depth to muzzle, dark eye and soft expression. Moderate length of neck and lay of shoulder fitting smoothly into gentle sloping topline and correctly set slashing tail. He has good depth to chest with straight front, tight fitting elbows and compact feet, muscled hindquarters with well angulated stifles and clean hocks. Shown in gleaming well feathered coat and positive in

movement which won him the class and BOB.

2. Cole’s Riverbrue Ophelia Bobby, 2 year old dog displaying a balanced outline when stood. He has a lovely masculine head, long and lean with lovely dark eyes beneath his raised brows giving a kind expression. Strong, slightly arched neck leading into well laid shoulders, good front and forechest with ribs well sprung and carried back to strong loin. He stands on good bone, has neat feet and on the move he held a firm topline with good tail carriage. Just preferred the furnishings of class winner on the day.

1. Webb & Danks-Kemish’s Alolfrana Azzaro Beside Redeshka, 5 year old dog with a racy outline and substance. He has a handsome masculine head, with lovely chiselling, raised brows and soft expression. Clean over neck and shoulders, is straight in front with good depth of chest with plenty of heart room, is well-muscled throughout with good bone, has good width across his hindquarters with well bent stifles, presented in hard condition and moved true, just preferred the topline and tail carriage of PG winner in challenge, RBOB.

1. Lightfoot’s Rajo Del Carpino Nero, brown & white dog just out of puppy of good proportions with a good length to leg and compact feet. Has a masculine head with broad skull, large nose, good eye shape and colour giving an intelligent expression. He has a clean arched neck, has a straight topline and correct slope to croup. Just needs time to develop in body and gain strength in hindquarters to enhance rear movement, BOB.

1. Lightfoot’s Gaesten Dannys Delight At Joydon, 4 year old brown bitch built on smaller lines but balanced and standing square. She has a pleasing feminine head, short muscular neck well placed shoulders, held her topline and moved with plenty of reach and drive, RBOB.

1. Clinton’s Hawkfield Happy Feet At Oramiss, 10 month old stunning O/W puppy dog, masculine but refined head with slight dish, dark expressive alert eyes and neat well set ears. He is soundly constructed with good length of neck, flowing into well-placed shoulders, has depth to chest with well sprung ribs carried back to strong short loin, muscled hindquarters and correct tailset. Has straight forelegs with good oval bone and compact feet, and has balanced angulation throughout. Presented in lovely coat and moved with good reach and drive using his tail to advantage, PB.

2. Brock’s Zoalin Better Together, 11 month old O/W puppy bitch, very feminine head with dark eye giving a gentle expression. Clean neck and shoulders, has depth to chest with well sprung ribs, tight fitting elbows, short loin and has a firm topline. She is straight in front with good oval bone, compact feet and muscled rear quarters. Moved well but just preferred the overall balance of class winner.

1. Matthews Sonham C’est La Vie, 2 year old striking B/W bitch who is balanced throughout, is soundly constructed and elegant in appearance. She has a very feminine head of good shape and length, dark bright eyes and neat ears. Clean neck of good length leading into correct layback of shoulder and return of upper arm, is straight in front, has good depth to chest with well rounded ribs leading to strong short loin, muscled hindquarters and good tail carriage. Presented in excellent condition and moved effortlessly around the ring with a good length of stride, BOB, and pleased to watch her get shortlisted in the group.

2. Martin’s Sunhouse I’ll Be Black (AI), 18 month old B/W dog of good size with masculine well shaped head of good proportions, has depth to muzzle, and dark alert eyes. Clean long neck into sloping shoulders, has depth to chest and brisket with ribs well sprung and carried back. Stands on straight well boned legs, tight arched feet, muscular hindquarters and a good turn of stifle. Moved ok once settled holding his topline at all times.

3. Hill’s Kanix Sourdough With Calaquendi JW BEL JR CH.

1. Martin’s SH CH Sunhouse Banged To Rights, 3year old B/W dog with a masculine head of good shape, well worked with good muzzle depth and kind expression eyes. Balanced in outline he is so well constructed with an elegant neck into good shoulders and return of upper arm, good depth of chest and spring of rib, elbows tight fitting, firm topline and muscled rear quarters. He has the correct oval bone and good feet and carried his tail. Well presented in excellent condition, RBOB, hard decision but just lost out in the challenge on movement.

2. Stilgoe’s Glenariff Mojito Over Teisgol, 3 year old B/W dog, smaller in stature but still displays a balanced outline when stood. Well proportioned head with dark eyes giving a kind and gentle expression. He has a long clean arched neck into well laid shoulder, has width and depth to chest with ribs carried well back, good angulation both fore and aft with good turn of stifle and correctly set tail. He is sound on the move but just preferred the head properties of class winner.

1. Burgess’s Gamepoint Zoom By Hantzburg, 15month old elegant bitch who is balanced all through with nothing overdone. She has an attractive head with intelligent kind eyes, and correct ear set. Moderate length to neck leading into clean well laid shoulders, level topline, is straight in front with deep chest with ribs carried well back into strong short loin. Elbows in on straight well boned legs with tight compact arched feet, she has muscled hindquarters with good return of stifle and let down hocks. Well presented and moved with plenty of drive.

1. Davies & Brown’s Gunalt Polished At Wystry, nearly 2 year old dog of good breed type and size. He has a masculine head of quality, well worked with good stop, kind alert eyes of correct colour and long well set ears. Moderate strong neck with clean lines into well placed shoulders, good depth to chest and with ribs carried well back into short loin and muscled hindquarters. Straight forelegs with elbows well in, compact arched feet and moderate bend of stifle. Well presented in coat of good colour moving soundly around the ring with ease,

1. Burgess’s Gunalt Vettel To Hantzburg ShCEx, 5 year old dog of quality, balanced in outline, with clean lines and sound construction. He has a masculine head of correct proportions, lovely shaped eyes and colour and with good length of ears set on high. Clean neck leading into well-placed shoulders, level topline and correct tailset, good forechest with depth to chest, ribs well sprung and carried back. He is well muscled throughout with good bone, compact feet, and well bent stifles. Shown in super condition a stylish mover with reach and drive, BOB and pleased to watch him get shortlisted in the group.

2. Pearman’s Weipowa Denton At Britmans, another dog presenting a good outline and my notes were almost identical and I was not surprised when I was later told that they were half brothers. He has an appealing masculine head, a good stop and alert kind eyes. Good head carriage on a muscular neck, good depth to chest and with ribs carried well back, has plenty of bone and muscled hindquarters, moved with strong driving action, just preferred the shoulders of class winner, RBOB.

1. Williams SH CH Isfryn Spot The Difference Trebettyn VW, (WSS), 8 year old dog with a masculine head of good proportions, well worked with plenty of chiselling below eyes of good colour and giving a gentle expression. He is well balanced throughout and compact in body, correct head carriage on strong neck leading into well-placed shoulders, has good depth to chest, ribs well sprung and is firm through the loin, muscled hindquarters with stifles well bent stands on good bone and tight feet. Well presented in flat red and white silky coat and strode out covering the ground with plenty of drive from the rear. Pleased to award him Best Veteran Gundog.

2. Colson’s Blacktoft Frozen In Time By Windyhollows (AI), (Flatcoated Retriever), 7 year old black bitch very balanced in outline and of good breed type. She has a long feminine head, flat skull, clean lines, dark eye and kind expression. Good head carriage on moderate length of neck leading into well placed shoulders, developed forechest, is well ribbed back, firm topline and muscled hindquarters with a lovely sweep of stifle. Shown in gleaming black flat textured coat and feathering and moved freely with good tail action.
