WEST OF ENGLAND COCKER SPANIEL CLUB OPEN SHOW – 19th OCTOBER 2024

I would like to thank the committee for the kind invitation to judge at their breed club show, for the excellent lunch and lovely gift and to the exhibitors that entered their lovely dogs for me to judge.

Class: A Special Award Puppy Dog or Bitch

1. Gray’s Purdyspride Rave On, 10 month old blue roan dog displaying a square outline when stood. He has a masculine head with a good depth of muzzle, dark eye and gentle expression. Moderate length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders, good depth to brisket, ribs well sprung for age, has balanced angulation for and aft, level topline and correct tail set and carriage. Shown in lovely coat and moved true holding his topline on the move.

2. Cowles Regaltav Valentine to Shenjela, 8 month old light blue roan bitch with lots to like. She has a pretty feminine head of good shape with dark eye and low set ears giving an overall appealing expression. Clean neck into sloping shoulders with good spring of rib for age, firm level topline, short compact body with rounded quarters, she is well off for bone with tight feet and moved around the ring with confidence, close decision between these 2 promising puppies.

3. Bindza’s Laurellakes Songbird.

Class: B Special Award Post Graduate Dog or Bitch

1. Ellison’s Withiflow Touchstone JW, 2 year old black and tan dog of quality, substance and balance that is not overdone in any way. Masculine head, well worked with dark eyes giving a kind expression. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders with good return of upper arm, good front and forechest, he has well sprung ribs, a firm level topline, strong loin and muscular hindquarters that he used to power around the ring with correct tail carriage. Very well handled and shown in excellent coat and condition.

2. Bindza’s Laurellakes It’s A Miracle, 23 month old feminine black bitch with lovely balanced head, dark eye and low set ears of good length. Moderate reach of neck into correct shoulder placement, she has well sprung ribs and is short in loin, has a firm level topline which she held on the move and stands on well boned legs with neat feet. Presented in lovely coat but not quite the movement of 1st on the day.

3. Jarvis’s Galibar Goldeneye.

Class: C Special Award Open Dog or Bitch

1. West’s Sheigra Stars In Her Eyes JW OSW ShCEx, 7 year old quality black bitch compact in outline with a very feminine well shaped head, lovely chiselling and dark kind expressive eyes. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders, is straight in front, elbows in with well sprung ribs, short strong loin with rounded quarters, a good return of stifle and let down hocks. She is well off for bone and has tight feet and lovely tail action. Presented in a silky textured gleaming coat and moved with sound movement once settled.

2. Bindza’s Aisza Figaro For Laurellakes, nearly 3 year old liver dog balanced throughout with a masculine head, dark brown eye and low set ears. He has an arched neck with good shoulder placement, is deep in brisket with well sprung ribs, has muscular hindquarters and stands on good legs and feet. Well presented in good condition, sound in movement with good reach and drive.
