What a absolute pleasure it was for the invitation from the Clumber club to judge their specials classes at the recent open show, a huge thank you to the committee and all the exhibitors for this lovely opportunity. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere made for a good day with everyone’s wonderful dogs.


Special Award Puppy (D/B) (4) 1.  Dawson, Dawson and Dawson’s – Beskerby Flora Finching. Good looking youngster with an animated presence, happy and so full of himself, initial out line was good and first movement was strong with plenty of power from the rear, good shape to head and with a clean dark eye giving a thoughtful intelligent expression, ears well shaped and large, strong in neck into well laid shoulders, front assembly showing strength with plenty of good straight bone, feet nice and round with no spread, brisket nice and deep and with a good amount of sprung rib carried well back, overall at rear well toned thigh and well bent stifles giving a strong powerful rear quarters with no weakness seen in the hock, coat in good condition, as said before movement was driven and strong, clean with no deviation.

2. Boden’s – Suelynda Boom Bang a Bang. Another male with a good presence on entering the ring, showing a good outline, nice width to head with a good stop, eye’s clean and of a nice dark amber, strong neck into a good lay of shoulder, front of good proportions, straight, strong and a good amount of bone, good depth to chest with a nice spring of rib, rear quarters strong in muscle on 1st and 2nd thigh, well developed bend to stifle and neat and straight in hock, movement was clean and with drive.

3. Blackburn’s – Suelynda Let Me Be The One. Litter mate to above and you could tell, very much of the same mould, overall first impression is good and a neat outline, it became very apparent that he was here for a fun day out, fully testing the handler, once settled he did show himself nicely, head with a nice large skull and well set ears of good shape, eye’s nice and dark, good strength to neck into a neat lay of shoulder, nice in front and with good strong bone, chest deep back to a well toned loin, Nice muscle tone to thighs, coat in good condition, movement was a little sporadic but we got there with a little encouragement, driven from the rear quarters.

Special Award Junior (D/B) (7, 3) 1.  Fenwick, Thompson and Langridge’s – Badgersmoon The Most Wanted. Good in overall outline and showed himself off nicely, good plains to a well proportioned head, good clean dark amber eye with a good intelligent expression, neck thick set with muscle and strength, a good lay to shoulder which gave the front the correct angulation, good and strong straight in front with nice bone, deep chest with plenty of well sprung rib carried well back to a strong toned loin, the rest of the rear quarters had substance with well defined muscular thighs on a good turn of stifle, hocks low and straight, coat in a lovely silky condition, movement was steady with plenty of drive from the rear showing clean straight hocks and feet.

2. Matthhews and Moon’s – Vanitonia Song and Dance. A young bitch with a lot to like, a lovely overall outline that was held on the stack and on the initial movement, good plains to head and with good proportions, nice dark clean eyes, most definitely female in expression and looks with a melting expression, good soundness and length to neck into a well laid shoulder, solid front assembly and with enough strong bone to carry that deep chest full of well sprung ribs, rear quarters were strong in muscle and condition with a neat turn to stifle, in good overall condition, moved well and with effortless positive drive.

3. Fenwick, Thompson and Langridge’s – Badgersmoon It Had To Be You. Litter mate to 1st but a little different to the eye, outline good with a stronger looking head but also with the correct proportions, nice clean eye, nice length to neck with good strength into a nice lay of shoulder, front straight with nice bone, chest deep with a good rib well back to a strong loin, rear quarters well toned in thigh with a good bend to stifle, coat silky and in a nice condition, moved well with a nice gait.

Special Award Post Graduate (D/B) (2,1) 1. Fenwick, Thompson and Langridge’s – Badgersmoon Mr Branson. Great presence on entering the ring, definitely one of a more mature exhibit being nearly 3, initial stack gave for a lovely outline with a balanced silhouette, head of good proportions, square with a defined deep stop, clean dark amber eye giving a thoughtful expression, neck long and strong fitting well into a clean well laid back shoulder, front construction was well balanced with good bone, straight and strong, chest is deep and full of well sprung rib carried well back to a strong well toned loin, rear quarters with muscled thighs and good bend to stifle, hocks well let down and straight, when on the move the hocks were straight and true, along with an effortless drive.

Special Awards Open(D/B) (3,1) 1. Thorogood’s – Anbrook Don’t Stop Me Now at Harrifield. Dog of a good overall outline on first presentation, head is of a good type, large square with broadness in width, defined deep stop with no excessiveness, clean dark amber eye giving a loyal intelligent expression, good shaped ear, neck felt strong and of a good length fitting neatly into a good lay of shoulder, back strong and level to a nicely , forequarters with plenty of good bone, strong in forelegs, brisket deep and with good spring of rib, carried back to a strapping loin, 1st and 2nd thigh with plenty of well toned muscle set on a well bent stifle, feet firm and round, coat silky and in good condition, movement was strong and effortless, driven from the rear with a good clear straight movement in the hock.

2. Dawson, Dawson and Dawson’s – Beskerby Luminescent. Bitch with a feminine expression from a nice dark eye, head with neat correct proportions and a nice defined stop, neck felt strong a laid back into a good shoulder, nice and level across the back, front had strength with good bone, plenty of depth to the chest and ample in spring of rib, which carried back to a strong loin, good feel to both 1st and 2nd thigh on a neat bend to stifle, feet large and round, movement was smooth and driven with good ground coverage.
