Siberian Husky Club Of Great Britain

SHCGB Special Award Classes

14.07.2024

SIBERIAN HUSKY

I always feel very privileged to judge huskies and I must admit I did feel a little rusty and nervous at

first, with it being 5 years since my last appointment, but it was nice to get the opportunity to go over

some dogs. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the SHCGB for the appointment and helping

me progress with my judging experience. The Special Award Open class I judged today was probably

my largest class to date and I was perhaps fortunate enough to have such a diverse selection of type

of dog, otherwise, the task may have proved more daunting.

Many thanks to all that entered and hopefully, see many of you soon on the trails….

Special Award Yearling (6, 2 abs)

1

st Amphlett & Sym, Korva Crazy Cornetto at Sybasprinter, D, 23.07.22, friendly and alert youngster,

showing all the sign of a well put together dog with well-balanced proportions. I could go on all day

about his good points, but I’ve narrowed it down to just a few. A nice masculine head with good eye

shape and set. Nice and straight front and back with good compact feet. Moved really nicely and

effortlessly round the ring and didn’t seem to mind the warm day.

2

nd Wakker, Komaksiut’s Glen Devon AV Ratatuyak at Ceannabeinne (Imp NLD), D, 19.03.23,

another friendly and alert youngster and it was difficult to separate the top two in the class. He didn’t

seem to be as well settled than 1st a little more of a handful for the handler, but I do like character and

this lad had some. Again good proportions and moved well, just not always in the right direction. It

would be nice to judge him again in the future, after a little more practice in the ring.

3

rd Spratley, Siberdrift Howlaween, D, 06.10.23, showed really nicely for his age. Good eye shape and

nicely set. Good forequarters shoulder blade well laid back and straight and true front and back.

Special Award Post Graduate (11, 5 abs)

1

st Bryson, Azgard Padron of Inukshuk, D, 01.11.19, love this boy, really dark almond shaped eyes

giving a keen friendly expression, even a little mischievous. He has a marvellous outline and as

always shown well when I’ve seen him previously at ring side. He has balanced angulation, good

proportions, excellent topline with a slight arch over the loin. On the move he is outstanding with a

smooth free flowing stride in profile and nice and true out and back.

2

nd Leich & Koops, Forstal’s Drifter, D, 16.07.21, a nice boy that showed well, just missed out on 1st

place today but it was close. Nice foxy head, with correct eyes and head shape and gorgeous ears

nice size with a good thickness, something that seems to be getting rare from what I have seen. Good

length of leg with plenty of room for movement, into a well-shaped rib cage and good depth of chest

and nicely muscled in rear legs tracked perfectly out and back.

3

rdCaudy, Arctictreks Goldilocks at Snodragon JW, B, 27.05.22, a really striking looking girl in the ring,

again a foxy looking head with a keen expression, with a somewhat mischievous look. Moved really

well round the ring smooth and seemingly effortless to standard.

Special Open (12, 2 abs)

1

st Seward, Elleonia Hear Me Now, B, 08.06.21, love this girl and certainly now one of my favourites,

that showed well with textbook movement. Good head and ear set with a keen expression. Wellbalanced

proportions and good angles in the fore and hindquarters allowing for that effortless

movement. Nice length of leg and straight front and back with correct slightly sloping pasterns and

good compact feet.

2nd Snelson, Azgard Monticristo at Ashtrax, D, 01.11.19, a nice dog and one I’ve liked for many years,

but this was the first time I’ve judged him. Moved well in the ring and look nice in profile covering

the ground with ease. Good angulation front and rear with good depth of chest. Plenty of muscle

and showed the drive in his movement. Nice and straight at the front and rear but as much as I like

this dog he didn’t move as well as 1st on the day.

3

rd Bryson, Inukshuk Iqniq O’The Night JW, B, 17.09.21, a very nice dog and its good to see his sire

(1st SAPG) as passed on some really nice features. Good proportions and nice compact oval feet and

moved really nicely around the ring.
