British Utility Breeds Association

Thank you to the committee of BUBA for the invitation to judge at your prestigious open show and to my two very efficient ring stewards. Thank you also to the competitors for your entries and the opportunity to go over your lovely dogs. DALMATIAN Puppy (9/1A) 1: Stocks, Dalmark’s Jubilations at Nospar. 6 month old well made L/S dog who is mature in development for his age. Liked his head and soft, but slightly naughty expression. Already has a good width to his chest and super depth of brisket. Nice for height to length ratio with good set on of tail. Full of substance, super feet. Well distributed mid liver spotting. He showed a large ground covering stride, lovely elasticity to his steps and a consistent rhythm. BP (PG4) 2: Hurst, Dvojica Firefly for Finnidal. 11 month old B/S bitch. Appealing feminine head, with decoration in just the right places to enhance. Slightly more compact in type than 1 but still with pleasing proportions. Nice width to fore-chest, good depth to brisket, nice for bone and substance, decent feet, tail of pleasing length. Evenly decorated with good pigment. Flowing economic movement with adequate reach and drive. 3: Bridge, Meyer & Britton, Akoni Buttery D’or Junior (6/3A) 1: Wright, Millbelle Thunderfire JW. 13 month old L/S dog who still has some maturing to do but whose overall balanced construction, elegance and super movement made him stand out today. Loved his head, masculine but free from coarseness with the softest, kind expression. Lovely reach of neck, well defined withers, nice topline and set on of tail. Super bone and substance, good feet. Eye catching, well distributed decoration. On the move he had such scope, with a large smooth stride that swallowed up the ground. He was athletic and in perfect balance with a beautiful effortless rhythm. BOB 2: Tingey, Dallyador White Magnolia. 13 month old L/S bitch. Pretty head with warm expression. Nice fill of chest, well defined withers. Balanced in angles and good proportions. Plenty of substance. Good feet. Smaller spots than 1, which are evenly distributed. Large, effortless stride that easily covered the ground. 3: Gulyas, Nevil Spotty Memories (Imp SVK) Yearling (4/2A) 1: Tingey, Dallyador White Magnolia. Critique, 2nd in Junior 2: Robbins & Hensman, Salvadorada Honolulu Honey at Palouse. 16 month old L/S bitch. Pretty feminine head, beautiful eyes, nice set on of ears. Moderate length of neck, good depth of brisket. Less bone and substance than 1, and more square proportions. Decent feet. Evenly decorated. Moved well maintaining a good rhythm with adequate reach and drive. Post Graduate (10/2A) 1: Townson & Pardoe, Sophtspot Phantasia for Daymadals. 2 year old very feminine B/S bitch. Beautiful head with the darkest of eyes. Nice length of neck, straight front, good depth of brisket, neat tuck up. Balanced in angles, lovely for height to length ratios. Decent bone and substance. The best of tight cat feet. Appears small standing in line but feel she is at the median of the standard. Densely populated large spots with the darkest pigment. One of the very few today that was moved straight on the out and back, showcasing her correct tracking and straightness. She had smooth, fluid movement without undue fuss or wasted energy and a super rhythm. 2: Bolt, Fakenham Fontanella. 3 year old strongly made B/S bitch who took my eye on the stand. She is built on a larger frame than 1 and is full of substance. Balanced head, moderate length of neck, good width to fore-chest, excellent depth of brisket. Balanced in angles and good for height to length ratios. Decent feet. Well distributed, bold decoration. On the move she had plenty of drive and natural ground coverage but I didn’t feel she properly got into her stride and consequently was lacking the harmony in her rhythm that was displayed by 1. 3: Wootton, Tolkain Caliban Open (6/1A) 1: Finlay, Dvojica Excuse My French at Dalfin JW. 3.5 year old B/S bitch. Pretty head, decent reach of neck, nice width to fore-chest and good depth to brisket. Good topline and well toned underline, with nice tuck up. Good bone and substance. Pleasing for overall balance and appearance and is elegant on the stand and moving. She had rhythmic, smooth movement and displayed pleasing reach and drive without unduly wasting energy. RBOB 2: Stocks, Nospar’s Gin and Tonic JW. 2 year old L/S bitch. Liked her well balance head with good set on of ears. Lovely reach of neck, well defined withers, good fore-chest and excellent depth to brisket. Shapely underline. More rangy in type than 1 but still with equally appealing height to length ratios. Excellent bone and substance. Super feet. Dense well conditioned coat with well distributed decoration. She moved well with elasticity to her steps and a good rhythm, but her tail carriage was not as elegant as 1’s. 3: Green & Sears, Alphadal Aint Misbehaving at Judally JW KEESHOND Puppy (4/2A) 1: Tew, Bargeway Breeze On By. 7 month old bitch. Feminine head, well balanced for muzzle to skull ratios. She was expressive with her use of ears which were nice for size and shape but set slightly wilder apart than I would prefer. Sparkling dark eyes, clearly defined spectacle markings. Moderate reach of neck into compact body. Enough substance. Feet not as tight as 2’s. Moderately set tail, carried well over back with correct dark tip. Slightly more angle in hock than I would prefer. Beautifully turned out in profuse puppy coat. A confident, happy puppy on the move, she showed some lovely brisk steps typical of the breed. BP 2: Johnston & Atkinson, Winklestar Namid. 6.5 month old dog who was on his toes today and didn’t really settle. His head was less balanced than 1’s, with his muzzle being a little shorter and broader than I would prefer. Ears well set but larger than I would prefer. Moderate length of neck into a pleasingly square body, of equal height to length. He had plenty of substance and lovely tight feet. Well set, tightly curled, black tipped tail, carried high over his back. On the move he demonstrated a much less typical breed movement than 1, with a much heavier footfall. Junior (No entries) Post Graduate (No entries) Open (7/5A) 1: Hickson, CH Kichigai’s Only The Lonely. 8.5 year old dog. Clearly male but free from any coarseness. Well balanced wedge shape head, with definite stop. Some greying on muzzle, as to be expected for his age. Dark eyes with good spectacle and eyebrow markings. Loved his soft, kind expression. Ears nice for size, shape and texture and well set on. Profuse ruff and a coat with lovely definite markings. Neck of good length into a compact square body. He is made with substance, well balanced in angulation, with good tight feet. Tight tail, carried well over his back. He was light on his feet and moved with a clean brisk action. BOB 2: Johnson, Tykees Full Of Chaos. 2 year old bitch. Feminine head with definite stop and the softest expression. Dark sparkling eyes of good shape and size, well defined spectacles and eyebrows. Ears set slightly wider than 1’s, which she used very expressively. Compact body with nice square proportions. Feet not as tight as I would prefer. Markings not as definite as 1’s. Really tightly curled tail. Didn’t move as cleanly and briskly as 1. RBOB Judge: Fiona Hajee
