Golden Retrievers

Thank you to the committee for your kind invitation to judge Golden Retrievers at your show and for the warm welcome and hospitality. Thanks also to my steward who ensured everything ran smoothly. Most importantly I must thank the exhibitors for entering your lovely well presented dogs.

Puppy 3(1,A)

1. Johnson’s Moloko Ow Do A beautifully well presented quality 8 month old light gold bitch puppy whose balanced frame caught my eye straight away. She has an appealing gentle feminine head of correct proportions with dark eyes and a tad cheeky expression. Super reach of neck onto well laid back shoulders flowing onto her level topline and tailset. Her front is straight with good bone and width of chest and nice tightly fitting elbows. She has good spring of rib and short couplings. Her stifles are well bent with well let down straight hocks. Her fore and rear angulations are symmetrical. Moved with an easy flowing stride. BP & PG1

2. Ritson’s Baricia Bella Dolce Another quality, very well presented 8 month pale cream dog puppy who was enjoying his very first show and kept his handler on her toes! I loved his gentle masculine head and super jet black pigmentation and dark eyes. He has a good reach of neck which flows onto good shoulder layback. He is very well off for bone with a straight front and lovely tight feet. His chest is deep with plenty of width and very good spring of rib. Strong level topline and tail set. Balanced fore and aft angulation with a good width to his thighs. Just not quite the balance of 1 at this stage and a little loose on the move.

Junior 4 (2,A)

1. Lochhead’s Kaylaton Heidi Weiss This 16 month light gold young bitch caught my eye for her nicely balanced frame and flowing movement on the first run around. .She has a feminine head of correct proportions and correct scissor bite with an appealing expression with lovely black pigmentation and dark eyes. Good straight front and tight neat feet. She has a lovely reach of neck onto well laid back shoulders flowing onto a dead level topline and tailset and her fore and rear angulations are symmetrical. She held her topline level on the move with great reach and drive. My notes say ‘A beautiful package’.

2. McDonald’s Lamancha Take a Chance An upstanding dark gold young dog of 16 months presented in gleaming coat and condition with lovely featherings. He has a large well balanced frame which will take time to fill as he matures. His head is gentle and well chiselled with dark eyes and good pigmentation. He has a good reach of neck and layback of shoulder onto a level topline. His front is straight. He has a deep chest although I would have preferred a better spring of rib and width of thigh which should come as he matures. He has a good turn of stifle and well let down hocks and held his topline as he moved with easy strides at one with his handler.

Post Graduate 9 (3,A)

1. McDonald’s Lamancha Take a Chance 2nd in Junior

2. Wallis’ Lamancha Roll on the Good Times. A 3 year old pale cream dog shown in full coat and lovely hard muscular condition. He has such an appealing masculine head with soft expression, correct chiselling and dark eyes and good pigmentation.His front is straight with plenty of bone. His chest is deep and well sprung he is short in couplings. His angulations are equal and he has well muscled thighs. Strode out well holding his frame level.

Open 5 ( 3,A)

1. Wallis’ Blue Gemstone Katrina at Camellis A 5 year old quality mature dog whose tail never stopped wagging. He has such a lovely rapport with his handler. Shown in super coat and hard muscular condition. He has a gentle masculine head and expression. A good reach of neck flowing onto well laid back shoulders and level topline showing his lovely clean outline. He has good length of upper arm and a deep chest with very good width. His forelegs are straight and he is well off for bone. He has strong rear quarters with well let down hocks. Powered around the ring holding his frame and at one with his handler. BOB and Gundog Group 4

2. McDonald’s Lamancha Question the Truth A beautiful quality pale cream 3 year old bitch shown with her gleaming coat in full bloom. She is in strong muscular condition. She has a sweet feminine head and lovely expression with dark eyes and jet black pigment. Her front is straight with good width to chest and her elbows tuck nicely in. I really liked her flow of neck onto her level topline. Her angulations are symmetrical and she has a good turn of stifle and straight hocks. Moved with a lovely easy stride.
